Campgrounds and RV parks near Laguna, NM

Laguna sits along Interstate 40 in west-central New Mexico, roughly forty-five miles west of Albuquerque and within the traditional lands of the Pueblo of Laguna. The area is high desert, with elevations above 6,000 feet, red-rock mesas, and long views toward Mount Taylor. Most RV travelers reach Laguna as part of a Route 66 or national-monument road trip. Campgrounds cluster along the I-40 corridor between Laguna and Grants. Sky City RV Park sits at the foot of Mount Taylor at Exit 102 on Interstate 40, forty-five minutes west of Albuquerque, and Lavaland RV Park and Route 66 RV Resort are located in Grants, about twenty miles west. Grants KOA Journey provides a full-service option on the west side of Grants, and Enchanted Trails RV Park and Trading Post sits on the western edge of Albuquerque for travelers arriving from the east. The corridor works well as a base for visiting Acoma Pueblo, El Malpais National Monument, and El Morro National Monument.

Privately operated parks along the I-40 corridor take direct bookings by phone or through their own websites. Sky City RV Park is open all year and accepts reservations by phone or through third-party platforms. Grants KOA Journey reservations run through the KOA site and app. Federal lands near Laguna use recreation.gov for any bookable sites, and BLM-managed dispersed and developed sites around El Malpais, including Joe Skeen Campground, are first-come, first-served. State parks in New Mexico, including Bluewater Lake to the west, use the New Mexico State Parks reservation system. For summer weekends and monument-adjacent stays, booking two to four weeks ahead is typical. Big-rig travelers should confirm site length; Sky City accepts big rigs up to 85 feet with 42 pull-thrus.
