Camping near Lee Acres, New Mexico
Lee Acres is an unincorporated community in San Juan County, sitting between Farmington and Bloomfield in New Mexico's Four Corners region. The area serves as a practical staging point for RV travelers exploring the high-desert badlands, ancestral Puebloan ruins, and the San Juan River corridor. Elevation runs near 5,500 feet, and the surrounding landscape is sparsely vegetated with wide open views.
Private RV parks cluster along the Farmington-Bloomfield corridor. Angel Peak RV Park, Moore's RV Park and Campground, Bluffview RV Park, Ruins Road RV Park and Campground, and Florez Riverview RV Park and Campground each offer full or partial hookups suitable for a range of rig sizes.
Beyond private parks, the region is anchored by the Angel Peak Scenic Area, a Bureau of Land Management site covering more than 10,000 acres of rugged badlands with dramatic views of a nearly 7,000-foot sandstone landmark, and by Navajo Lake State Park, which features multiple campgrounds with developed campsites near the marinas and along the San Juan River.
Things to do near Lee Acres
The San Juan River below Navajo Dam is a headline destination for anglers. The river's Quality Waters catch-and-release section is a well-known trout fly-fishing destination, and the lake itself supports a mixed fishery for Kokanee salmon, northern pike, bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish.
History and geology are close at hand. Aztec Ruins National Monument preserves ancestral Puebloan structures including a reconstructed Great Kiva, and Salmon Ruins near Bloomfield offers another significant ancestral Puebloan site with a museum featuring artifacts from the region. At Angel Peak, a short rim trail and interpretive panels allow visitors to explore colorful hoodoos, petrified wood, and mammal fossil remnants eroding from the San Jose and Nacimiento Formations.
The Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness to the south offers hoodoo hikes and dark-sky photography for day trips from a base camp in the corridor.
