Campgrounds and RV parks near Brownville, NY

Brownville sits on the Black River in Jefferson County, a short drive from Watertown and within easy reach of both Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. The village works well as a base for RV travellers exploring the eastern Lake Ontario shore, Chaumont Bay, and the Thousand Islands region, where campgrounds line the lake, the river, and inland waters. RV options in the area range from small private parks to a large state-run beach campground. Sportsmans Hideaway RV Park and Chaumont River RV Park & Campground offer closer-in, smaller-scale stays, while Bedford Creek Campground and Willows on the Lake sit along the water toward Sackets Harbor and Henderson. Westcott Beach State Park, on Henderson Bay, is the main public campground within a short drive and books through the New York State Parks system. The wider Thousand Islands and eastern Lake Ontario region has a mix of private and public campgrounds, many with full amenities, play areas, marinas, and stocked stores, giving families flexibility on site type, hookups, and proximity to the water.

Westcott Beach State Park and other New York state park campgrounds are booked through the state's ReserveAmerica system. Camping reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance, with sites becoming available at the 9-month window at 8AM Monday through Friday and 9AM Saturday and Sunday from March 15 through Labor Day, and at 9AM daily the day after Labor Day through March 14. Private parks such as Sportsmans Hideaway RV Park, Chaumont River RV Park & Campground, Bedford Creek Campground, and Willows on the Lake take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. For summer weekends and holiday stretches, plan to book several months out. A maximum stay of 14 continuous nights per reservation applies at New York state park campgrounds, after which occupants and equipment must leave for 48 hours before returning to the same park.
