Campgrounds and RV parks near Chazy, NY

Chazy sits in the northeast corner of New York, on the western shore of Lake Champlain about eight miles north of Plattsburgh and roughly twelve miles south of the Canadian border. The town works well as a base for RV travelers because it puts three big draws within easy reach: Lake Champlain itself, the Adirondack High Peaks to the west, and Montreal about an hour north. Most private campgrounds in the immediate area are lake-oriented and family-run. Montys Bay Camp Site sits along Lake Champlain next to Gilbert Brook Marina, while Sunset Rock Rv Park & Lake Shore covers the New York shoreline nearby. Camping Gregoire Plage and Camping Coolbreeze are short drives north across the Quebec border, and Twin Ells RV Park rounds out the local options with full hookups. Expect a mix of transient and seasonal sites. Many parks in this corridor lean heavily seasonal, so short-stay availability tightens quickly in July and August.

Private campgrounds around Chazy, including Montys Bay Camp Site, Sunset Rock Rv Park & Lake Shore, and Twin Ells RV Park, are booked directly through each park's website or phone line. Lakefront and full-hookup sites at these parks fill first, often several months out for summer weekends and holiday weeks. New York state park campgrounds, including nearby Cumberland Bay State Park and Ausable Point, use ReserveAmerica. Sites can be reserved up to nine months in advance, and same-day reservations are accepted online until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival. Vermont's Champlain Islands parks use the Vermont State Parks reservation system, and Quebec provincial campgrounds use SEPAQ. Camping Gregoire Plage and Camping Coolbreeze are private Quebec parks booked through their own sites. For July and August, book as soon as the reservation windows open. Shoulder-season nights are far easier to secure.
