Campgrounds near Clark Mills, New York
Clark Mills is a small hamlet in Oneida County, New York, west of Utica in the Town of Kirkland. RV travelers use it as a base to reach the Mohawk Valley, the western Adirondack foothills, and the eastern edge of the Finger Lakes region. Most RV-friendly campgrounds sit within a 20 to 30 minute drive, clustered around Rome, Verona, and the shore of Delta Lake.
Delta Lake State Park is the nearest full-service public campground, set on a peninsula extending into the Delta Reservoir north of Rome. Villages at Turning Stone RV Park in Verona offers a resort-style option connected to Turning Stone Resort Casino. Lake Chalet Motel and Campground, Cider House Campground, and Scenic View Campground round out the private-park options with a mix of full hookups, tent sites, and seasonal amenities.
Together these parks give renters a range of choices from paved full-hookup RV sites to wooded state-park loops with dump stations and showers.
Things to do near Clark Mills
Delta Lake anchors the outdoor options. The state park supports boating, fishing, hiking, and picnicking in warmer months, with ice fishing and cross-country skiing in winter. A boat launch and shoreline access make the park popular with anglers targeting trout, pike, bass, and perch. The sandy beach is staffed with lifeguards from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Guests at Villages at Turning Stone RV Park have a complimentary shuttle running regularly between the RV park and the casino, plus access to on-site golf, spa, and dining at the resort. The RV park features nature trails, a recreational area for bocce ball, horse shoes, tennis, basketball and volleyball and separate ponds for paddle boating and fishing.
Day trips from Clark Mills reach the Erie Canalway trails, Oriskany Battlefield, Utica breweries, and the Adirondack foothills within an hour's drive.

The main camping season runs from early May through mid-October. State-park loops at Delta Lake typically open in mid-May, and the beach and boat launch align with the summer holidays. The Villages at Turning Stone pool follows the same window, with a heated pool and hot tub open daily from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend. The Villages RV Park is open seasonally, from May until October.
Summer weekends fill fast, especially around July 4 and Labor Day. Reservations at New York state parks open well in advance, so peak-season sites are best booked in the winter and early spring before the trip.
Shoulder-season trips in September and early October bring fall color across the Mohawk Valley and quieter loops, but nights drop into the 30s Fahrenheit. Winter closes most private parks in the area, though Delta Lake State Park remains accessible for day use with cross-country ski and snowmobile access on the trails.

Everything was as described. The host made sure we had everything we needed to ensure our weekend was enjoyable. Was accommodating and easy to work with. The camper is older but everything works and in good shape it was perfect for our long weekend racing

We had such a wonderful experience renting this RV! The owner was absolutely fantastic—so kind, accommodating, and incredibly flexible throughout the entire process. Communication was seamless, he was always quick to respond, and he went above and beyond to make everything easy and stress-free. The RV itself was spotless, in pristine condition, and clearly very well cared for. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely rent from him again. Highly recommend!

We had an outstanding experience with this camper trailer rental in the Adirondacks last week. The unit was delivered right on time and was amazingly clean—everything inside was spotless and ready to go. It came fully equipped with everything we needed, so we didn’t have to scramble for any essentials. The host, Alex, was very friendly, professional, and informative. They took the time to walk us through the camper, answer all our questions, and make sure we felt comfortable before heading out. That personal touch really set the rental apart. We based ourselves near Long Lake and loved exploring the area. Highlights included grabbing ice cream at Hoss’s, catching some World Cup action at the Long Lake Diner and Owl’s Head Pub, and just soaking in the quiet lakes and mountain views. The Adirondacks never disappoint—peaceful mornings on the water and scenic drives through the woods made for some of our favorite moments. Overall, this was an easy, stress-free rental experience. Clean unit, reliable delivery, and genuinely helpful hosts. We’d happily rent from them again. Highly recommended!

How to book campsites near Clark Mills
Delta Lake State Park is booked through the New York State Parks system on ReserveAmerica, by website or by phone. Sites are released on a rolling nine-month window, so peak summer dates should be reserved as far ahead as the system allows.
Villages at Turning Stone RV Park books directly through Turning Stone Resort and operates from spring through October. Private parks such as Lake Chalet Motel and Campground, Cider House Campground, and Scenic View Campground take reservations by phone or through their own websites, and many require a deposit for holiday weekends.
Renters arriving with a large motorhome should confirm site length and hookup amperage before booking, since not every loop accommodates 40-foot rigs or 50-amp service.
What to expect on the ground
Delta Lake sits on a wooded peninsula with generally flat terrain. The state park includes a beach, picnic areas, a playground, hiking and bike trails, a boat launch, a multi-loop campground with tent and trailer sites, showers, and a dump station. Sites are close together in classic state-park fashion, and cell coverage is adequate but not strong.
Villages at Turning Stone is the more resort-like stop, with over 175 paved sites with full hookups, modern bathhouses, laundry facilities, and a welcoming community atmosphere. 50 pull through sites, picnic tables and fire pits at all sites.
Expect mosquitoes and black flies in early summer near the lake, quiet hours enforced at state parks, and leash rules for pets. Firewood should be sourced locally to comply with New York's rules on transporting untreated wood.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Clark Mills, NY
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Clark Mills, NY?
An RV rental in Clark Mills typically runs about $95 to $175 per night for travel trailers, $130 to $225 for Class C motorhomes, and $200 to $400 for larger Class A motorhomes, depending on size, age, and season. Midweek dates in May, early June, and September are noticeably cheaper than peak July and August weekends near Oneida Lake. For a cheap RV rental in Clark Mills, filter by towable trailers (many hosts deliver them) and look for hosts offering included extras like camp chairs or generator hours. Pro tip: booking three or more months ahead of Boilermaker Road Race weekend in nearby Utica locks in the best rates before locals snap them up.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Clark%20Mills%2C%20New%20YorkWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Clark Mills?
A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Clark Mills for nearly every rig on RVezy. In New York, a standard Class D license covers motorhomes and trailer combinations up to 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), which includes virtually every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on the platform. Only oversized Class A motorhomes over 26,000 pounds GVWR require an R endorsement, and those rigs are rare on peer-to-peer rentals. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified right inside the platform, so there's no paperwork to chase before pickup. Visiting from abroad? An International Driving Permit paired with your home license keeps you road-ready.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental protected if something goes wrong on the trip?
Yes. Every RVezy booking in Clark Mills automatically includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head toward Oneida Lake with real peace of mind. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your comfort zone (the host doesn't decide this, you do), and it covers most accidental physical damage to the RV during your trip. It isn't traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial protection for things like accidental dings, awning issues, or interior mishaps. Pro tip: snap a quick walk-around video at pickup and drop-off. It takes two minutes and makes any future claim smoother, so you can focus on enjoying your Clark Mills RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my plans change?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy at the platform level (not the host), and the refund amount depends on how far you are from your trip start date when you cancel. RVezy also has accommodations for situations like natural disasters or severe weather, which matters in Upstate New York where a sudden lake-effect storm off Oneida Lake can change weekend plans. Because the policy is handled by RVezy, you'll see the exact terms during checkout. Pro tip: message your host early if a date shift is on the table, since many are happy to move dates rather than cancel.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Clark Mills?
Absolutely. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Clark Mills, toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers where dogs are explicitly allowed. Once you're on the road, Verona Beach State Park on Oneida Lake permits leashed pets per campsite with proof of rabies vaccination, and Delta Lake State Park north of Rome follows the same New York State Parks pet rules. For trail walks, the Utica Marsh Wildlife Management Area is roughly 15 minutes from Clark Mills. Pro tip: pack a paper copy of your dog's rabies certificate, since check-in staff at NY State Parks ask to see written proof.
parks.ny.gov/recreation/pets/Can the RV be delivered to my campground or home?
Yes. RV delivery in Clark Mills is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if it's your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts offer delivery and setup directly to Verona Beach State Park, Delta Lake State Park, Pixley Falls State Park, or even your driveway in Clark Mills, New Hartford, or Whitesboro. They tow the trailer or drive the motorhome to your site, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system, from the propane stove to the awning. Filter by Delivery on the listing page to see which RVs offer it and how far they'll travel. Pro tip: delivery typically runs a few dollars per mile, and many hosts waive the fee inside a short radius of Clark Mills.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Clark%20Mills%2C%20New%20YorkHow far can I drive, and is RV rental with unlimited mileage available?
You've got plenty of road ahead. Hosts set their own mileage policies, and many Clark Mills listings include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with optional unlimited mileage add-ons for longer trips. That easily covers a weekend at Verona Beach State Park (about 25 miles east), a run up to the Adirondacks via Old Forge (about 55 miles north), or a Finger Lakes loop through Skaneateles and Watkins Glen (about 90 to 140 miles southwest). For a true RV road trip from Clark Mills, look for listings tagged with unlimited mileage or message the host directly from the listing page. Pro tip: extra miles usually cost a small per-mile fee, so bundling a mileage upgrade upfront often beats paying at return.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Clark%20Mills%2C%20New%20YorkWhere are the best campgrounds near Clark Mills to park my RV?
You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Clark Mills include Verona Beach State Park (about 25 miles east on Oneida Lake, with electric hookups and a sandy beach), Delta Lake State Park (about 20 miles north near Rome, with lakeside swimming and a boat launch), Pixley Falls State Park (about 35 miles north, great for waterfall lovers), Cooperstown KOA Journey (about 50 miles south, ideal for Baseball Hall of Fame visitors), and Herkimer Diamond KOA Resort (about 35 miles east, a family favorite with diamond mining on-site). Book NY State Parks through ReserveAmerica, where reservations open up to nine months in advance. Pro tip: the lakeside loop at Verona Beach books up first, so set a cancellation alert if you miss the initial release.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Clark Mills?
Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping near Clark Mills. Summer (late June to August) brings warm 75 to 85 F days perfect for swimming at Oneida Lake, while September and early October light up the Mohawk Valley with fall foliage and crisp 50 to 70 F afternoons, which many locals consider peak season. Spring (May) is quieter and cheaper, though nights can dip to 40 F, so heated tanks help. Most NY State Park campgrounds, including Verona Beach, run their season roughly from Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day in early October. Pro tip: book the last week of September for foliage at Pixley Falls without the summer crowds or peak pricing.
weather.gov/buf/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll do great, and Clark Mills is an ideal launch pad for first time renting an RV. Roads in Oneida County are wide, traffic is light outside Utica rush hour, and the Thruway (I-90) and Route 5 are flat and easy. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering driving, leveling, propane, water, and the dump station, and they're a text away during your trip. If you're nervous about driving, choose a Class B campervan or a smaller travel trailer with delivery, so the RV is already set up when you arrive at the campground. Pro tip: do a 20-minute practice loop through the quiet roads around Kirkland and Westmoreland before heading to your campground. Confidence builds fast.
rvezy.com/blog/first-time-rv-renters-guideWhat happens if I have a breakdown or problem on the road?
You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking in Clark Mills includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Route 12 toward the Adirondacks or a dead battery at Verona Beach State Park is a phone call, not a crisis. The roadside team can dispatch help for towing, tire changes, jump starts, lockouts, and fuel delivery across the U.S. Your host is also reachable directly through the RVezy app if you have a quick question about a slide-out or generator. Pro tip: save the roadside number to your phone before you leave Clark Mills, and screenshot your reservation details in case you're somewhere with patchy Adirondack cell service.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trip destinations from Clark Mills, NY?
Clark Mills is one of the best RV launch points in Upstate New York. Popular RV road trips from Clark Mills include the Adirondacks via Old Forge and Inlet (about 60 miles north, great for paddling and the Fulton Chain lakes), Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame (about 50 miles south), Niagara Falls (about 200 miles west via the Thruway), the Finger Lakes wine trail around Seneca and Cayuga Lakes (about 90 to 130 miles southwest), and the Thousand Islands along the St. Lawrence River (about 110 miles north). Cross-border trips into Canada may be allowed by some hosts, so message before booking; travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: the Adirondack Northway (I-87) is a smooth scenic route for a first-time RVer.
iloveny.com/places-to-go/adirondacks/How much should I budget for fuel on a Clark Mills RV trip?
Fuel is easier to plan than you'd think. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans hit 16 to 20 mpg, and a truck towing a travel trailer averages 10 to 14 mpg. New York gas prices typically run higher than the national average, so check current rates on GasBuddy or AAA before you head out. A 200-mile weekend loop from Clark Mills to Old Forge and back in a Class C usually uses 17 to 25 gallons of gas. Pro tip: fill up in Westmoreland or Rome before heading into the Adirondacks, where prices climb sharply once you pass Boonville.
gasprices.aaa.com/state-gas-price-averages/How far in advance should I book a campground near Clark Mills?
Book early, especially for summer weekends. New York State Park campgrounds, including Verona Beach, Delta Lake, and Pixley Falls, open reservations nine months ahead through ReserveAmerica, and prime lakeside sites at Verona Beach disappear within hours of release for July and August weekends. Private parks like Herkimer Diamond KOA and Cooperstown KOA usually open 12 months out and fill up around the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend in late July. For shoulder season (May, September, October), you can often grab a great site two to four weeks ahead. Pro tip: check ReserveAmerica regularly for last-minute cancellations the morning of your trip.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are local driving conditions like around Clark Mills?
Driving around Clark Mills is refreshingly relaxed compared to bigger metros. The hamlet sits in Oneida County off Route 233 and Route 5, both flat, two-lane roads that are easy for any RV. The New York State Thruway (I-90) runs just south of town, giving you smooth high-speed access east to Albany or west to Syracuse. Watch for lake-effect snow squalls from November through March off Oneida Lake, and for sudden summer thunderstorms that can drop visibility quickly. The Adirondack routes (Route 28 and Route 12) include some grades and curves but no extreme passes. Pro tip: check NY 511 for live traffic and weather alerts before you leave, especially when heading north toward Old Forge where mountain weather changes fast.
511ny.org/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Clark Mills?
You'll find solid amenities at every level. Verona Beach State Park offers campsites with picnic tables, fire pits, hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station, and electric hookups on many sites. Delta Lake State Park has similar facilities plus a swimming beach and boat launch. Private parks like Herkimer Diamond KOA Resort step up to full hookups (water, electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry, a pool, and a camp store. Both Verona Beach and Delta Lake have dump stations for registered campers. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking water hose and a 30-amp-to-15-amp adapter, since some NY State Park sites only offer 30-amp service and shared spigots.
parks.ny.gov/camping/What's included inside a typical RV rental in Clark Mills?
You'll feel right at home. A typical motorhome rental in Clark Mills includes a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 4 to 8 people with seatbelted travel seats, heat and air conditioning, and often a TV. Many hosts include a generator for boondocking, propane for cooking and heat, fresh and waste water tanks, and basics like pots, pans, linens, and outdoor chairs. Wi-Fi is hit or miss in rural Oneida County, so plan to use your phone hotspot. Always check the listing's amenities and add-ons section. Pro tip: message the host through RVezy to confirm kitchen items and bedding are included so you don't double-pack from home.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Clark%20Mills%2C%20New%20YorkWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect when I rent an RV in Clark Mills?
Hosts in Clark Mills make personalizing your trip easy. Common add-ons include generator use (often a flat day rate or hourly fee), bike racks, kayaks and SUPs (perfect for Oneida Lake), Wi-Fi hotspots, linens and towel packs, camping kits with chairs and lanterns, and propane refills. Most hosts offer pickup at their home base in or near Clark Mills, plus paid delivery to nearby campgrounds like Verona Beach, Delta Lake, and Herkimer Diamond KOA. Mileage policies generally include 100 to 150 free miles per night with add-on packages available for unlimited mileage. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a generator package upfront, since these are usually cheaper as a combo than added individually at checkout.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Clark%20Mills%2C%20New%20YorkHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure, with no cash handoffs at pickup. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card during booking, which protects both you and the host. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card around your trip start and released after return, assuming no damage or extra mileage. The deposit is separate from the booking payment, and choosing a higher protection plan level at checkout lowers your out-of-pocket exposure if something happens. Pro tip: do a thorough walk-around video with the host at pickup and drop-off, and confirm fuel and propane levels match what was noted, the easiest way to get your full security deposit back fast.
