Campgrounds near Gorham, New York
Gorham is a small town in Ontario County in New York's Finger Lakes region, sitting between Canandaigua Lake to the west and Keuka Lake to the southeast. RV travelers use it as a central base for touring wineries, state parks, and lakefronts across Yates and Ontario counties. The area is farm country: rolling hills, vineyards, and creek valleys, with campgrounds spread along rural roads rather than concentrated at one destination.
Options range from full-service private parks to a lakeside state facility. Flint Creek Campground in nearby Middlesex offers RV sites, cabins, and tent spots. Country Charm Campground sits closer to Gorham itself. Keuka Lake State Park has 150 tent and trailer sites, 53 with electric hook-up. The Canandaigua / Rochester KOA Holiday is located in Farmington, New York, north of Canandaigua Lake.
Cheerful Valley Campgrounds rounds out the list to the northeast in Phelps, along the Canandaigua Outlet. Together these give travelers a mix of hookup levels and proximity to lakes, wineries, and I-90.
Things to do around Gorham
Water activities dominate the summer schedule. Keuka is one of the warmer Finger Lakes and is an ideal place for swimming and relaxing on the beach, and the park is also a great destination for hiking, boating, and fishing. Canandaigua Lake, just west of Gorham, has public boat launches, beaches, and rental outfitters. The park has access to both the Keuka and Seneca Lake Winery trails, which feature many special events and wine tastings, and family-friendly stops like Sonnenberg Gardens sit within a short drive.
On-site amenities matter for RV families with young kids. The Canandaigua / Rochester KOA Holiday in Farmington offers a jump pad, mini-golf, a game room, and bike rentals, while Cheerful Valley features a swimming pool, volleyball, horseshoes, lawn games, and themed weekend events.

Summer is peak season. July and August bring the warmest lake temperatures, the busiest wineries, and the highest demand for hookup sites, especially on holiday weekends. Campsites can book up fast for summer and holiday weekends, so book at least three months in advance. Late May and September are quieter shoulder windows with cooler nights and easier availability.
Winters are cold and snowy. The state park stays open for winter snowmobiling and cross-country skiing, but most private campgrounds close by mid-October. Spring can be muddy and wet, with lake levels running high after snowmelt.

How to book campgrounds near Gorham
Keuka Lake State Park uses the New York State Parks reservation system. Reservations can be made online or through the ReserveAmerica Call Center, and walk-ins are permitted on campsites only. Online reservations open nine months in advance and can be made up until 3pm on the day of arrival. The campground and marina allows 1-night minimum stays.
Private parks handle their own bookings. Flint Creek Campground, Country Charm Campground, and Cheerful Valley Campgrounds take reservations directly through their operator websites or by phone. The Canandaigua / Rochester KOA Holiday books through koa.com or its call center, with separate cancellation windows for RV sites and cabins. Holiday weekends often carry minimum-stay requirements at private parks, so confirm terms before booking.
What to expect on-site
Hookup levels vary widely. The KOA and Flint Creek offer full-hookup pull-throughs with 30/50-amp service, WiFi, and dump stations. Cheerful Valley has sites with electric, water, and some sewer hookups, plus modern restrooms and hot showers. Larger rigs should confirm site length in advance.
Expectations differ at the state park. No sites are on the lake front. Water is a shared hook-up. There is one spigot for every 4 campsites. Full hookups are not available; plan on filling tanks before arrival and using the dump station on departure. Each camping loop has a comfort station with flushing toilets, mirrors, sinks and showers with hot/cold running water, and electrical outlets.
Pets are generally welcome at the private parks with restrictions. Cell coverage is reliable across most of the area; WiFi quality varies by campground.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Gorham%2C%20New%20YorkWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Gorham, NY?
A regular New York driver's license (or any valid US or Canadian license) is all you need to rent an RV in Gorham, NY. No commercial driver's license or special RV endorsement is required for the motorhomes, campervans, or travel trailers on RVezy, including larger Class A coaches. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the platform during checkout, so there is no paperwork to print or notarize. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental in Gorham covered by insurance and roadside assistance?
Yes, and this is one of the best parts of booking through RVezy. Every RV rental in Gorham, NY includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered for eligible damage to the vehicle and have a real human to call if you get a flat tire on Route 245 or need a jump near Canandaigua Lake. During checkout you choose from several protection plan tiers, letting you pick the level of coverage and deductible that fits your comfort level and budget. It is not traditional auto insurance, but it gives renters peace of mind so you can focus on the wineries, not the what-ifs.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat happens if I need to cancel my Gorham RV trip?
You can book your Gorham RV trip with confidence. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy, and refunds depend on how far out you cancel relative to your trip start date. Because the policy is standardized across the platform, the exact refund terms are not displayed on individual listings, so review the current cancellation policy on the RVezy Help Center before you confirm. If a host cancels on you, RVezy issues a refund or travel credit so your plans are protected. Book early for Watkins Glen race weekends and the Naples Grape Festival in late September, when Gorham-area rigs sell out fast.

parks.ny.gov/recreation/pets/Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Gorham?
Yes, RV delivery in Gorham is one of the smartest moves for first-timers and families. Many RVezy hosts will drive the motorhome or trailer directly to your campsite at places like Canandaigua/Rochester KOA, Cheshire Farms Campground, or a private lakeside lot, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery is a game-changer if you are flying into Rochester (ROC) airport about 45 minutes north, since you can rideshare straight to your campsite and skip towing entirely.

parks.ny.gov/parks/When is the best time of year for RV camping in Gorham?
Late May through mid-October is prime time for RV camping in Gorham, with the sweet spot being September and early October when the Finger Lakes turn red and gold and grape harvest hits full swing. Summer highs typically reach the upper 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit (around 25 to 28 Celsius), while fall days are crisp in the 50s and 60s, perfect for vineyard hopping. Winters here are cold and snowy with lows often in the teens Fahrenheit, so most RV rentals run April through November. Time your trip with the Naples Grape Festival in late September or the Canandaigua Art and Music Festival in July for an unforgettable Finger Lakes RV trip.
weather.gov/buf/I've never rented before. How do I feel confident driving an RV around Gorham?
First time renting an RV? You are in great hands. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, leveling, propane, the generator, and dumping tanks, so you leave knowing exactly how everything works. Gorham's quiet country roads like Route 245 and Route 364 are ideal for getting comfortable behind the wheel before tackling busier routes. You can also message your host any time during the trip with questions. Choose a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Gorham for your first outing: they handle a lot like a large van and park easily at most Canandaigua Lake wineries and lakeside pull-offs.
rvezy.com/rv-rentalsWhat if something breaks down during my Finger Lakes RV trip?
Take a deep breath, you are covered. Every booking on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so if you get a flat on Route 14A, run out of fuel near Penn Yan, or have a battery issue at your campsite, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also typically a quick text away for questions about the specific rig's quirks, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip. Save the roadside assistance number in your phone before you leave the host's driveway, and snap a photo of the rig's VIN plate so any service call moves faster.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat are popular RV road trips from Gorham, NY?
Gorham is a perfect launchpad for a Finger Lakes loop or a bigger Northeast adventure. Popular RV road trips from Gorham include the Seneca Lake Wine Trail (about 90 minutes around the lake), Watkins Glen State Park and its famous gorge trail (45 minutes south), Letchworth State Park, known as the Grand Canyon of the East (about 90 minutes west), Niagara Falls (about 2 hours), and the 1000 Islands region along the St. Lawrence (about 3 hours north). Cross-border trips into Canada may be possible with host approval, but travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Message the host directly from the listing to confirm any out-of-state or cross-border plans before you book.
iloveny.com/places-to-go/finger-lakes/What kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel for your Finger Lakes RV trip is straightforward. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A coaches run 6 to 10 MPG, while travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. New York gas prices around Gorham generally run a bit above the national average. For a typical 3-day, 250-mile Finger Lakes loop in a Class C, expect roughly $75 to $115 in fuel based on recent regional prices. Fill up in Canandaigua or Geneva where prices tend to be lower than in the smaller villages, and use apps like GasBuddy to spot the best deal along your route.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Gorham?
For the smoothest family RV trip in Gorham, book campgrounds as early as you can. New York State Parks like Keuka Lake, Sampson, and Watkins Glen open reservations up to 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and prime summer weekends (especially July 4th, Watkins Glen NASCAR weekends, and fall foliage) routinely sell out within hours. Private parks like the Canandaigua/Rochester KOA and Cheshire Farms typically book directly on their websites and fill 2 to 4 months ahead for peak dates. If you are flexible, target a Sunday-to-Thursday stay for more open sites, lower rates, and quieter neighbors, plus easier last-minute booking with most Gorham-area RVezy hosts.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Gorham and the Finger Lakes?
You will find Gorham an easy and scenic place to drive an RV. Roads like Route 245, Route 364, and US Routes 5 and 20 are wide, well-maintained, and pass through gentle farmland and vineyards, ideal for taking it slow and enjoying the view. Lakeside roads can be hilly with the occasional sharp turn, so downshift on descents near the Bristol Hills. From mid-November through March, lake-effect snow can be heavy, which is why most RV rentals here run April to November. Avoid driving large rigs through the narrow village center of Naples on summer weekends during the Grape Festival: park at the festival lot or use RV delivery in Gorham to skip the navigation challenge entirely.
dot.ny.gov/indexWhere can I dump tanks and fill fresh water near Gorham?
You have solid options close by. Most full-service campgrounds near Gorham, NY (including the Canandaigua/Rochester KOA, Cheshire Farms Campground, and Sampson State Park) have dump stations and potable water fills available to registered campers, and a few offer day-use dumping for a small fee. Many New York State Parks also have dump stations for departing guests. Expect standard 30-amp and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer at full-hookup sites, with picnic tables and fire rings at almost every campsite. Download the Sanidumps or Campendium app before you roll out: they map every dump station and freshwater fill along your Finger Lakes route so you are never guessing.
parks.ny.gov/parks/What features and amenities will my Gorham RV rental have?
You will be impressed by how dialed-in most rigs are. A typical motorhome rental in Gorham comes with a queen or king bed, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette seating that often converts to extra sleeping, air conditioning, a furnace, and seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Many hosts include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, camp chairs, and even a generator or solar setup for off-grid stays around the Bristol Hills. WiFi varies but cellular hotspots work well across most of the Finger Lakes. Check the listing's photos and amenities checklist carefully, and message the host to confirm sleep count and any must-haves like a coffee maker or kid-friendly seatbelts.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Gorham%2C%20New%20YorkWhat add-ons and pickup options do Gorham RV hosts offer?
Lots of great extras make your trip easier. Common add-ons from Gorham hosts include linen and kitchen kits, generators, propane fire pits, bike racks, kayak or SUP racks (perfect for Canandaigua Lake), and pet packages. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Gorham, Canandaigua, or Geneva, with most offering flexible afternoon pickup and morning return windows. Mileage policies typically include 100 to 150 free miles per day with a modest per-mile charge beyond, and longer bookings often unlock unlimited mileage or discounted rates. Bundle delivery, linens, and a generator on your first trip: the small added cost is worth arriving to a fully set-up campsite with zero learning curve.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Gorham%2C%20New%20YorkHow does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Gorham?
Payment is simple and secure through RVezy: no cash and no awkward driveway transactions. You pay the rental total online by credit card when you book, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized (not charged) on your card shortly before pickup. Deposit amounts vary by rig but typically range from $500 to $1,500, and the hold is released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape, usually within a few days of return. Do a thorough walkaround video with your host at both pickup and return: timestamped photos and videos make sure your deposit is released quickly and any questions get resolved smoothly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Gorham during winter for a snowy Finger Lakes getaway?
Yes, winter RV adventures are possible here, though selection is more limited. Some Gorham-area RVezy hosts list four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, insulated underbellies, and propane furnaces that handle Finger Lakes winters (which regularly dip into the teens and single digits Fahrenheit). Plan around shore power at a winterized campground or private property hookup, since many state parks close their RV loops from late October to mid-April. Imagine waking up to snow-dusted vineyards near Canandaigua Lake or ice fishing on Honeoye Lake. Message the host early to confirm winter use is allowed, ask about an included heated water hose, and book a site with 30 or 50-amp shore power for cozy nights.
