Camping near Hamilton College
Hamilton College sits in the village of Clinton in Oneida County, central New York, roughly ten miles southwest of Utica. RV travelers use it as a base for the Mohawk Valley, the southern edge of the Adirondacks, and the rolling farm country of Madison and Oneida counties. The area blends college-town amenities with easy access to state parks, reservoirs, and the historic Erie Canal corridor.
Closest to the resort area, Villages at Turning Stone RV Park in Verona offers paved full-hookup sites and a free shuttle to the Turning Stone Resort Casino. To the south, Cider House Campground in Bouckville pairs RV sites with an antique showfield and sits across Canal Road from the historic Chenango Canal towpath. Lake Chalet Motel and Campground near Bridgewater and Cedar Valley Campsite in the Morrisville area round out the private options.
For state-park camping, Delta Lake State Park sits on a peninsula extending into Delta Reservoir northeast of Rome and books through the New York State Parks reservation system. Together these give travelers a mix of resort-style, rural, and lakeside stays within about a 45-minute drive of the college.
Things to do near Hamilton College
The Chenango Canal Heritage Trail, across Canal Road from Cider House Campground, offers flat walking and biking along a historic canal alignment, with some sections open to kayaking. Delta Lake supports boating, swimming at a lifeguarded beach staffed from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and shoreline fishing for trout, pike, bass, bullhead, and perch. Nearby state historic sites include Oriskany Battlefield and Steuben Memorial.
Madison County is anchored by the Madison-Bouckville Antique Week in August, plus small breweries, cheese makers, and hop farms. Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame lie about 45 minutes south. Turning Stone Resort adds golf, a spa, dining, and entertainment on the Oneida Nation homelands. Families often pair a beach day at Delta Lake with a stop in the village of Hamilton for ice cream and bookstores.

Central New York has a humid continental climate with warm, wet summers and cold, snowy winters. The most reliable RV window runs from mid-May through early October, when private parks are open and state-park facilities are staffed. Villages at Turning Stone RV Park operates roughly mid-April through mid-October, and Cider House Campground opens in mid-May and stays open through October.
Summer brings the warmest weather and the busiest bookings. Weekends around Madison-Bouckville Antique Week in August and Colgate University family and reunion weekends fill nearby sites early. September and early October bring cooler nights, active fall color in the surrounding hills, and lower midweek demand. Fall is also the wettest part of the year, so rain gear and a covered awning help.
Winter camping is limited. Delta Lake State Park stays open year-round for day use, with cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing, but campsites and most private parks are closed from late fall through early spring.

Matt was incredible from start to finish. Replies almost immediately to all messages and questions from time of booking, leading up to the trip and during your trip. The RV was immaculate on the outside, the entire cabin, refrigerator, bathrooms, etc. And it came with everything we would need for the trip. Was our first time staying in an RV - Matt showed up promptly when he said he would (even earlier), set up everything for our stay and walked me through everything we needed to know to use and enjoy the RV for a week. I would highly recommend Matt to anyone and would certainly book with him again!
