Campgrounds near Mineville, New York
Mineville sits in the eastern Adirondacks of Essex County, a short drive from Lake Champlain and inside the six-million-acre Adirondack Park. RV travelers use the area as a base for lake access on the New York shore and for quick crossings into Vermont via the Crown Point Bridge. Public and private campgrounds within roughly thirty minutes cover the full range from primitive state land to full-hookup private parks.
Giant Mountain Wilderness, High Peaks Wilderness Complex, and Hammond Pond Wild Forest are all within a short drive of the campground and offer a number of hiking opportunities. The closest public option is Lincoln Pond - DEC, run by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation near Elizabethtown. Across the lake, DAR State Park in Addison, Vermont sits on a bluff over Lake Champlain and is reachable via the Crown Point Bridge.
Private parks in the area include Barber Homestead Park in Westport and Ten Acres Campground and RV Park (also listed as 10 Acres Campground & RV Park) just across the bridge, both of which cater to larger rigs and provide hookups not available at the state facilities.
Things to do near Mineville
Lake Champlain drives most of the trip planning. At Lincoln Pond, motor boats, rowboats, and canoes are allowed, with rowboat, kayak, canoe and stand up paddleboard rentals available. A car-top boat launch is available. Fishing for tiger muskie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and bullhead is plentiful. Champlain itself holds northern pike, lake trout, and salmon.
Hiking access is a short drive west into the High Peaks region. The Crown Point State Historic Site preserves fort ruins and a restored lighthouse on the lake, and Fort Ticonderoga sits a further half-hour south. Shopping, golfing, and restaurants in Elizabethtown are approximately 6 miles away from Lincoln Pond, with groceries and a small hospital available in town.
Families with younger children tend to build days around the beach at Lincoln Pond, the pool at Barber Homestead Park, and short walks at the lakeshore day-use areas.

December - February
28° / 12°F 65 mmPublic campgrounds closed; cold and snowy with lake-effect events.
The camping season in this part of the Adirondacks is short. Open Jun-Oct. is typical for private parks in the area, and DEC campgrounds around Lincoln Pond generally follow a mid-May through Columbus Day pattern that tracks staffing and water-system shut-off.
July and August are the peak booking months. Waterfront sites at DEC campgrounds and full-hookup sites at private parks routinely fill weeks in advance for weekends, and holiday weekends fill earlier. Summers in the Champlain Valley are warm and comfortable, with July typically the warmest month of the year.
Late September into early October brings foliage traffic through the Champlain Valley, cooler nights, and thinner availability at the parks that stay open. Winter closes public campgrounds entirely. Winters are very cold and bring very snowy conditions, often enhanced by lake-effect snowfall. RV travel during shoulder seasons is possible but requires attention to water systems and overnight temperatures.
How to book campgrounds near Mineville
Lincoln Pond - DEC is booked through the New York State reservation system. Reservations can be made online or through the Reserve America Call Center: 1-800-456-2267. Reservations can be made for today and can be made up to 9 Month(s) in advance. Same-day reservations will be allowed until 5pm on day of arrival at all DEC campgrounds. Walk-ins will not be permitted.
DAR State Park uses the Vermont State Parks booking site. Camping reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance on a rolling basis. Reservations made more than 7 days in advance require a two-night minimum. One-night stays are allowed within 7 days of arrival, any day of the week.
Barber Homestead Park and Ten Acres Campground and RV Park are private and booked directly with the operator by phone or website. For summer weekends at any of these, booking eight to twelve weeks out is a reasonable target.
What to expect on the ground
Site type varies sharply between the public and private options. At Lincoln Pond, the park offers a variety of campsites. Some are in remote areas and do not offer flush toilets or portable water without going back to main part of campground. Three sites are boat access only. Other sites are more developed, with hot showers, a trailer dump station, a recycling area, and disabled accessibility. DEC campgrounds do not offer electric, water, or sewer hookups at the site.
DAR State Park has 71 campsites, including 24 lean-tos, with flush toilets, token-operated hot showers, and a dishwashing station in the bathroom. A dump station provided. There are no site hookups. Full hookups are available at Barber Homestead Park, which allows vehicles up to 70 feet.
Cell coverage is patchy in the hills west of the lake. Firewood restrictions apply: do not bring firewood from outside the state into New York or Vermont parks.

weather.gov/btv/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be able to handle it?
You'll do great, and your host's walkthrough is the secret weapon. Every RVezy host meets you at pickup (or at your delivery location) for a hands-on orientation: how to level the rig, hook up power and water, run the propane, dump tanks, and operate the awning and slide-outs. They'll answer every question, no matter how basic. First time renting an RV in Mineville? Start small with a travel trailer or Class C, ask the host to demo the backup camera, and plan a shorter first-day drive. Hosts often share their cell number for the whole trip, and RVezy support is available around the clock. You're never figuring it out alone.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat if something goes wrong on the road near Mineville?
You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Route 9N, a dead battery at a Schroon Lake overlook, or a lockout at Bulwagga Bay is one phone call away from getting sorted. The dispatch team can arrange a tow, tire change, jump-start, or fuel delivery anywhere in the Adirondack region. Your host is also typically reachable by phone for vehicle-specific questions. Cell service can be patchy deep in the High Peaks, so download offline maps before you leave Mineville and keep RVezy's support number saved.

Budgeting fuel for your Adirondack trip is straightforward once you know the ballpark. Class B campervans get roughly 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 mpg, Class A rigs land around 6 to 10 mpg, and a truck towing a travel trailer typically runs 10 to 14 mpg. New York gas prices in the North Country generally track a bit above the national average, and the closest reliable fuel stops to Mineville are in Port Henry, Witherbee, and Moriah Center. Fill up before heading deep into the High Peaks since stations thin out fast. A typical 4-night Lake Champlain loop in a Class C burns around $150 to $220 in fuel.

Book early and you'll have your pick of the best lakefront sites. New York state campgrounds, including Paradox Lake, Lincoln Pond, and nearby Putnam Pond, open reservations up to nine months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and prime summer weekends at waterfront sites often fill within hours of the booking window opening. For July, August, and fall foliage weekends, aim to book by January or February. Private parks like Bulwagga Bay Campground in Port Henry typically take reservations starting in February for the season. Mid-week stays and shoulder-season trips in June and September are far easier to grab last-minute. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for the nine-month mark if you're targeting a holiday weekend.
