Campgrounds and RV parks near Pultneyville, NY

Chimney Bluffs State Park, a short drive east, is the standout day trip. Lake Bluff RV Park sits near the park entrance, putting the clay-spire hiking trails and Lake Ontario shoreline within easy reach. Sodus Bay, the Sodus Point lighthouse, and B. Forman Park add swimming, picnicking, and boat-launch access along the same stretch of Lake Road. Inland, the Erie Canalway Trail runs through Wayne County for cycling and walking, and Twilight on the Erie RV Resort places guests on that corridor. Fishing is a major draw: Lake Ontario tributaries are known for salmon and trout runs, and charter boats operate out of nearby harbors. South of Pultneyville, the northern Finger Lakes wineries, apple orchards, and farm stands are within an hour's drive.

The practical RV season runs from about mid-May through mid-October. Most private campgrounds in the Wayne County corridor, including lakeshore and canal-side parks, operate seasonally and shut down for the winter. Water systems are typically drained by late October due to hard freezes. Summer is peak. July and August bring warm lake temperatures, the busiest orchard and winery traffic, and the highest booking pressure at Lake Ontario parks. Weekends around Independence Day and Sodus Point summer events tend to sell out weeks in advance. Late spring is cooler and quieter, with lake-effect showers still common through May. Fall is a strong shoulder season. September and early October bring stable weather, apple harvest, and foliage across the Finger Lakes drumlins, with far less crowding than midsummer. Winter is not a practical RV window here: Rochester averages roughly 100 inches of snow, driven by lake-effect off Lake Ontario, and county roads see heavy plowing well into March.

Expect a rural, small-hamlet setting. Pultneyville itself is a compact historic village listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with a small harbor, a marina, and limited services. Full grocery, fuel, and RV supply runs are handled in Williamson, Sodus, Webster, or Rochester. Sites vary widely. Lake Bluff RV Park and other lake-adjacent properties offer bluff-top or wooded sites near the water; Twilight on the Erie RV Resort sits along the canal; Nor-Win Farm and Campsite is a working-farm setting. Full hookups are common at the larger parks, but some rural sites are water and electric only, so confirm amps and sewer before arrival. Bugs peak in June, lake breezes keep afternoons comfortable, and evenings cool quickly near the shore even in midsummer.
