Campgrounds and RV parks near West Chazy, NY

West Chazy sits in Clinton County in New York's North Country, a short drive from the western shore of Lake Champlain and roughly eight miles north of Plattsburgh. The town works as a practical base for RV travelers heading to the lake, the northern Adirondacks, or across the border into Quebec, with Interstate 87 running just to the west. Campgrounds in the immediate area lean toward mid-sized family parks with full or partial hookups. Twin Ells RV Park and Montys Bay Camp Site are both located in West Chazy itself, with Montys Bay sitting directly on Lake Champlain and offering water access for boating and fishing. A short drive south adds more options in the Plattsburgh area, including Shady Oaks Camping Resort, Shady Oaks RV Park, and Plattsburgh RV Park. Beyond the private parks, state-run camping is available at Cumberland Bay State Park in Plattsburgh, which sits on the west shore of Lake Champlain and offers a large sand beach, day-use areas, and hundreds of campsites within easy reach of a West Chazy basecamp.

Private parks in the area, including Twin Ells RV Park, Montys Bay Camp Site, Shady Oaks Camping Resort, Shady Oaks RV Park, and Plattsburgh RV Park, are booked directly through each campground's website or by phone. Many carry a mix of seasonal and transient sites, so transient inventory can be limited during peak summer weekends. Cancellation policies vary and typically tighten inside the 30-day window before arrival. New York State campgrounds such as Cumberland Bay use the ReserveAmerica system through the state park reservation portal, with a rolling booking window that opens roughly nine months in advance. Waterfront and electric sites for larger rigs go first. For summer weekends, plan to book both private and state sites several weeks to several months out.
