Campgrounds and RV parks near Prospect, NC

Prospect is a census-designated place in Robeson County, North Carolina, located due northeast of Pembroke, in the southern Coastal Plain about 30 miles from Fayetteville. It sits in flat, wooded farm country crossed by the Lumber River, with Interstate 95 and I-74 within a short drive, making it a practical base for RV travelers moving along the East Coast corridor. The closest full-service RV options are clustered near Lumberton, about 15 to 20 miles southeast. Lumberton / I-95 KOA Journey is the best-known stop for overnight travelers, with pull-through sites and highway-adjacent access. Camp Pedro, Lake Waldos Beach Campground, Idlewild Farm Stays, and Bass Lake RV Campground round out the local mix, ranging from farm-stay style sites to lakeside RV parks. For public land camping, Lumber River State Park is the main draw in the region. The park has two access areas about an hour apart at Princess Ann and Chalk Banks, and the Lumber River is federally designated as a National Wild and Scenic River, the only blackwater river in North Carolina to hold that honor. Between the private parks near I-95 and the state park sites to the south, most RV travelers can find something within a 30-mile radius of Prospect.

Public sites at Lumber River State Park are booked online at ncparks.gov/reservations or by phone at 1-877-722-6762. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival and can be made up to six months in advance. A two-night minimum stay applies to Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day holiday weekends. Princess Ann and Chalk Banks accesses are about an hour apart by road, so confirm which one holds the reservation before driving. Private parks handle their own bookings. Lumberton / I-95 KOA Journey is bookable through the KOA website or by phone. Camp Pedro, Lake Waldos Beach Campground, Idlewild Farm Stays, and Bass Lake RV Campground each set their own deposit and cancellation terms, so confirm at the time of booking.
