Campgrounds and RV parks near East Dunseith, ND

The International Peace Garden itself anchors the area, with formal floral beds, walking paths, a conservatory, a cafe, and ponds suitable for kayaking. Cross into Manitoba and Turtle Mountain Provincial Park opens up a network of trails, more than 200 lakes and wetlands, and swimming beaches. William Lake, Max Lake, and Adam Lake are among the park's largest lakes and are popular for fishing, boating, and paddling. William Lake is also frequented by windsurfers. A hiking trail leads to the Turtle's Back Tower, which offers a panoramic view of the Turtle Mountains and surrounding farmlands. Families gravitate to Adam Lake for its beach, playground, and multiple trailheads that leave straight from the campground.

The camping season here is short and driven by northern-plains weather. International Peace Garden Campground is generally open from mid-May through the end of September, with shoulder dates shifting to match the weather. Across the border, Turtle Mountain Provincial Park's camping season also runs from May through September, while the park itself stays open in winter for day use, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. July and early August are the peak. Days are long, lakes are warm enough for swimming, and the formal gardens are at full bloom. This is also when reservations are hardest to secure and when mosquitoes are worst. Weather can change quickly in this northern climate, and biting insects can be heavy through midsummer. Late August and September bring cooler nights, thinner crowds, and better fishing conditions. The Peace Garden property remains open year-round for hiking and cross-country skiing, but RV sites shut down after the end of September.

The Peace Garden campground is wooded and quiet. Private sites are surrounded by aspen and oak with a picnic table and firepit. Pull-through serviced sites offer electricity and water alongside unserviced sites, a large overflow primitive area is available, campfire wood is furnished, and there is a dump station and two shower houses. Gasoline is not available at the Peace Garden; the nearest source is about four miles south. In Manitoba, service levels vary by campground. William Lake and Max Lake offer basic sites only, while Adam Lake has both electric and electric-plus-water sites along with unserviced sites. No sites have sewer hookups, but each campground has a dump station. Bring proper identification for the border crossing. The International Peace Garden straddles the international boundary, and any trip between the US and Manitoba parks requires a port-of-entry stop.
