Campgrounds and RV parks near Lakota, ND

Fishing dominates the calendar. The Devils Lake basin is known for walleye, perch, and pike, and Grahams Island State Park hosts national and regional fishing tournaments through the open-water season. Woodland Resort runs a bait and tackle shop and connects guests with guide services on Creel Bay, and Grahams Island offers a four-lane boat ramp, a bait shop, and fish cleaning stations. Beyond angling, families use the swimming beach, playground, and dog park at Grahams Island and walk the wooded trails through bur oak and green ash groves. Wildlife in the park includes white-tailed deer, red fox, wild turkeys, beaver, coyote, and the occasional moose. The Spirit Lake Nation lands and Sullys Hill area south of the lake add wildlife viewing and cultural stops within a short drive of any of the lakeside campgrounds.

The core RV season runs from late May through early October. Private resorts on Devils Lake operate on roughly this window, with Woodland Resort, Spirit Lake Casino and Resort RV Park, West Bay Resort, LLC, and East Bay Campground open through the warm months and closed once hard freezes arrive. Peak demand lines up with walleye and perch seasons and with fishing tournaments, so summer weekends fill quickly. Grahams Island State Park is the exception and stays open year-round, and campers there enjoy large shaded campsites in one of the only non-seasonal campgrounds in the area. Winter services are limited, though. Comfort stations close and water shuts off from October into spring, so cold-weather visitors need to be largely self-sufficient. Winter still draws visitors for ice fishing and cross-country skiing. The park keeps over three miles of groomed cross-country ski trails, welcomes snowshoers, and offers direct access to the lake for ice fishing. Shoulder-season RV travel is possible but cold, with hard freezes typical by mid-October and thawing ground into April.

Sites at Grahams Island are shaded and roomy, set under mature oak and ash. Hookup availability varies by loop: modern sites offer electricity and water, while premium group sites add sewer. Winter guests should note that sites 1 through 6 keep water access during the coldest months, while other loops switch to electric-only service. Private resorts run tighter on space. Some lakeside campgrounds have compact interior roads and closely spaced trees, so larger fifth wheels should ask about site dimensions before booking. Woodland Resort offers RV sites with 30-amp electric, water hookups, and access to a dump station, plus cabins and a lodge on the property. Cell coverage is workable but uneven around the lake, and the nearest full-service groceries and fuel are in the city of Devils Lake, about 15 to 20 minutes from most lakeshore campgrounds.
