Campgrounds and RV parks near Condon, OR

Condon sits on the high plateau of Gilliam County in north-central Oregon, surrounded by wheat country and within reach of the John Day River canyon. The town itself offers a compact base for RV travelers, while the most notable public camping in the area is at Cottonwood Canyon State Park, roughly half an hour north on Highway 206. The park spans more than 8,000 acres along the lower John Day River, with vertical cliffs, side canyons, and arid grasslands that define this stretch of eastern Oregon. Close-in options include Condon RV Park in town and Grass Valley RV Park to the west on Highway 97. Willow Creek RV Park serves travelers passing through the Heppner area to the east. North along the Columbia River, Port of Arlington Marina RV Park provides a riverfront stop with marina access. The region is dry, sparsely populated, and well suited to RV renters looking for open landscapes, dark night skies, and uncrowded camping outside the busier corridors of the Cascades and the central Oregon Coast.

Campsites at Cottonwood Canyon State Park are first-come, first-served from November through March, while reservations can be made April through October up to six months in advance. The four cabins are reservable year-round, also up to six months in advance. Reservations go through the Oregon State Parks system at oregonstateparks.org or 1-800-452-5687. Lone Tree Campground offers 21 primitive campsites that are reservable during the primary camping season and become first-come, first-served during the winter, with a maximum site length of 71 feet. Private parks such as Condon RV Park, Grass Valley RV Park, Willow Creek RV Park, and Port of Arlington Marina RV Park typically take reservations by phone or through their own websites. Spring weekends fill earliest; book six months out for prime dates.
