Connellsville camping overview
Connellsville sits in Fayette County along the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands, a hub for RV travelers heading to Ohiopyle State Park, the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail, and Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. The city serves as a practical basecamp with grocery stores, fuel, and dump-station access, and it sits about 70 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
Camping options range from full-hookup riverside resorts to rustic state park loops. The Blue Canoe RV Resort sits between the Youghiogheny River and the GAP trail, with full-hookup RV sites, tent sites, and cabins. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort and the separate Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Mill Run location cater to families with pools, activities, and hookup sites. Scarlett Knob Campground Inc offers a mix of primitive and hookup sites in the river corridor.
Kentuck Campground at Ohiopyle State Park, about 15 miles southeast of Connellsville, has about 200 campsites and is open from April to mid-December, with tent, trailer, and RV sites, plus yurts and cottages inside a roughly 20,500-acre park.
Things to do near Connellsville
The Youghiogheny River is the main draw. The park offers whitewater boating opportunities for all experience levels, with outfitters in Ohiopyle renting gear and running guided trips on the Lower Yough from spring through fall. Calmer sections above the falls suit kayaks and tubing, and anglers fish the river and nearby streams for trout.
Ohiopyle contains 27 miles of the Great Allegheny Passage, which connects Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Cumberland, Maryland. The rail-trail runs directly through Connellsville on flat crushed limestone, good for short out-and-backs or multi-day tours. Ohiopyle serves as the southern terminus for the 70-mile Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, which traverses the Laurel Ridge from Ohiopyle to the northern end near Johnstown.
Rainy-day and family stops include Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob, Fort Necessity National Battlefield, Laurel Caverns, and the Kennywood and Idlewild amusement parks within driving range.

The main whitewater rafting season is April to October, with the highest water in spring.
Summer weekends and holidays fill quickly. Campsite reservations at Ohiopyle open 11 months in advance, and cottages and yurts must be reserved a minimum of three days in advance, and popular loops sell out for July and August months ahead. Fall brings cooler nights, thinner crowds, and hardwood color across the ridges through mid-October.

How to book a campsite near Connellsville
Ohiopyle campsites, cottages, and yurts are reserved through the Pennsylvania State Parks website, with campsite reservations opening 11 months in advance and cottages and yurts requiring a minimum of three days in advance. There are no admission fees for Pennsylvania state parks, but campsite booking fees apply.
Private parks including The Blue Canoe RV Resort, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort, the Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Mill Run location, and Scarlett Knob Campground Inc take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Holiday weekends and themed event weekends fill first.
For summer visits, book Ohiopyle sites the day the 11-month window opens for the target date. For last-minute trips, check cancellation-alert services or call private parks midweek. Confirm rig-length limits and hookup type before booking, as select sites offer electric hookups (no full hookups) at Kentuck.
What to expect near Connellsville
Terrain around Connellsville is hilly and wooded. Approach roads to Ohiopyle include grades and curves, and SR 2019 is very steep, so large RVs should avoid this road and take PA 40 to SR 2010 (Chalk Hill-Ohiopyle Rd.). Cell service is spotty inside the river gorge and in parts of the state park.
At Kentuck, expect flush toilets, warm showers, some electric hook-ups, and a sanitary dump station, with no water or sewer at the site. Alcohol restrictions apply as with all Pennsylvania state parks, and pets are permitted in designated areas including Hickory and Ivy roads. Private resorts around Connellsville offer full hookups, pools, camp stores, and Wi-Fi.
Summer brings frequent afternoon thunderstorms and biting insects near the river. Pack rain gear, insect repellent, and layers for cool mountain evenings even in July.

They'll level the rig, connect hookups, and walk you through the systems before leaving. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see which listings offer it, since each host sets their own delivery fee based on distance and RV type. pa.reserveamerica.com/camping/ohiopyle-state-park/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=PA&parkId=1500001When is the best time to visit Connellsville, PA in an RV?

Late May through June brings 70 to 80 degree days, blooming rhododendron along the Youghiogheny, and ideal whitewater levels in Ohiopyle. Then late September through mid-October explodes with Laurel Highlands fall foliage, crisp 50 to 65 degree days, and the famous Connellsville Mum Festival at Yough River Park. July and August average highs in the mid 80s and are perfect for tubing and river days. Winters drop into the 20s and 30s with real snow, so most campgrounds close by late October. Pro tip: target the first two weekends of October for peak color along the GAP.

You can message any host through the listing page before booking to ask questions, and RVezy's 24/7 support team is one call away during your trip. Pro tip: choose a Class C motorhome or smaller travel trailer for your first Laurel Highlands adventure.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Connellsville RV rental into other states or Canada?
Absolutely, an RV road trip from Connellsville is built for crossing state lines. You're within easy reach of West Virginia (about 45 minutes south on I-68), Maryland along the GAP corridor, Ohio via I-70 west, and New York up I-79. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection package you select, so confirm directly with your host through the listing before booking. One important note: travel into Mexico isn't permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: a classic seven-day loop runs Connellsville to Cumberland, MD to Harpers Ferry, WV and back, all on well-paved interstates.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on a Connellsville RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier things to plan for around Connellsville. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans land around 15 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG combined). Pennsylvania gas prices generally run a bit above the national average, so budgeting $4.00 to $4.50 per gallon keeps you safe. A round trip from Connellsville to Pittsburgh and back (about 120 miles) in a Class C will cost roughly $45 to $60 in fuel. Pro tip: top up at the Sheetz or GetGo stations along US-119 before heading into Ohiopyle, since fuel options thin out closer to the state park.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Connellsville?
For the best sites, book early, especially at Pennsylvania state parks. Kentuck Campground in Ohiopyle State Park opens reservations up to 11 months ahead through the Pennsylvania DCNR's reservation system, and summer weekends fill within hours of going live. Aim to book three to five months out for July, August, and peak October foliage weekends. Private parks like the Blue Canoe RV Resort and Yogi Bear's Jellystone in Mill Run typically need four to eight weeks of lead time for prime sites. Midweek and shoulder season trips often have same-week availability. Pro tip: if Kentuck is full, check Laurel Hill State Park or Outflow Campground at Youghiogheny River Lake, both reservable through the same system.
pa.reserveamerica.com/What are the driving conditions like around Connellsville?
Driving around Connellsville is approachable, but the terrain has personality. You're at about 870 feet elevation in the Laurel Highlands, and roads like PA-711, PA-381, and the Summit Mountain stretch of US-40 include real grades and tight curves, especially climbing toward Ohiopyle and Farmington. US-119 is the smooth, four-lane workhorse connecting you north to Pittsburgh and south to Uniontown. Winter brings snow and ice from December through March, so most renters stick to April through October. Watch for cyclists crossing road intersections with the Great Allegheny Passage trail through downtown Connellsville. Pro tip: take US-119 to PA-201 for an easier route into Ohiopyle than the steeper, winding PA-381 approach from the south.

Local campgrounds make life easy for RVers. The Blue Canoe RV Resort offers 50-amp full hookup sites (electric, water, sewer) right along the Youghiogheny. Kentuck Campground in Ohiopyle State Park has electric hookups at most RV sites, with a centralized dump station and potable water fill near the entrance. Benner's Meadow Run provides a mix of 30 and 50-amp service across its 120 sites. Yogi Bear's Jellystone in Mill Run has full-hookup pull-throughs, and Laurel Hill State Park has a dump station available to registered campers. Pro tip: many sites in the Laurel Highlands sit on sloped terrain due to the rolling topography, so pack leveling blocks for a smooth fridge and a comfortable night's sleep.

You will find more comfort than you would expect from a motorhome rental in Connellsville. Most Class C motorhomes on RVezy sleep four to seven across a queen bed, a convertible dinette, and an over-cab bunk, plus a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, and a wet bath with toilet and shower. Travel trailers offer similar layouts without the cab. Standard features include roof AC, propane furnace, freshwater tank, a generator on most motorhomes, and seatbelted travel seats for everyone on the road. Many listings add a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and outdoor awning, and some include mobile Wi-Fi hotspots. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count to match your crew before scrolling through the photos.

Mileage policies vary: some listings include 100 to 150 free miles per day, others offer unlimited mileage for an upgrade. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a bike rack add-on and you can step onto the GAP trail in Connellsville without ever driving the RV.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Connellsville%2C%20PennsylvaniaHow do payment and the security deposit work on a Connellsville RV rental?
Payment on RVezy is straightforward and secure. You pay through the platform with a credit or debit card when you book, and your funds are held until your trip begins, so you are protected if anything changes. Each host sets a refundable security deposit (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV class) that is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, not charged. After your trip wraps up and the RV is returned in the same condition, the hold is released, typically within a few business days. Pro tip: do a quick walkaround video with your host at both pickup and drop-off in Connellsville so the deposit release is fast and dispute-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I dump and refill water near Connellsville?
Servicing your rig around Connellsville is easy once you know the spots. Ohiopyle State Park has a public dump station and potable water fill near Kentuck Campground that's open to registered guests, and Laurel Hill State Park offers the same about 30 minutes east. The Blue Canoe RV Resort and Benner's Meadow Run both have on-site dump stations for their guests. For a quick fuel-plus-dump combo, the Flying J and Pilot travel centers along I-70 near New Stanton (about 20 miles north) have public dump stations year-round. Pro tip: dump and refill before heading deeper into the Laurel Highlands toward Seven Springs or Hidden Valley, since options get sparse on the back roads.
