Campgrounds and RV parks near East Pittsburgh, PA

East Pittsburgh sits in the Turtle Creek valley just east of the city of Pittsburgh, and most RV-friendly campgrounds cluster along the I-70 and Pennsylvania Turnpike corridor to the southeast in Westmoreland County. This puts travelers within a 30 to 60 minute drive of downtown Pittsburgh while keeping the rig on quieter rural roads with easier maneuvering. The closest options include Wallace Trailer Sales and Court, along with larger destination parks such as Madison/Pittsburgh SE KOA Journey at 764 Waltz Mill Road in Ruffs Dale and Fox Den Acres Campgrounds in New Stanton. Mountain Top Campground and The Blue Canoe RV Resort round out the list with additional full-hookup capacity. Most properties in this corridor are private RV parks rather than public land, so full hookups, laundry, and pull-through sites are standard. From these campgrounds, travelers are just 45 minutes from Pittsburgh and its city amenities, pro sports, amusement parks, universities and hospitals, and within reach of the Laurel Highlands nature trails and Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater.

Private campgrounds in the area book directly through their own websites or by phone, and through aggregators such as KOA.com or Good Sam. Holiday weekends and Pittsburgh sports weekends fill first, so reserve as far ahead as possible. The Madison KOA can be reached at its Ruffs Dale office for site selection and monthly stays. For state parks, reservations go through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system. Pennsylvania opens site reservations up to 11 months in advance, an unusually long window among state park systems. At Ohiopyle State Park, sites at Kentuck Campground book quickly for summer weekends and fall foliage weekends, so putting requests in near the opening of the 11-month window is the safest approach.
