Campgrounds and RV parks near Hyde Park, PA

Hyde Park is a small borough in Westmoreland County, western Pennsylvania, sitting on the Kiskiminetas River across from Leechburg in Armstrong County. The area is best known for the Hyde Park Walking Bridge, a 600-foot pedestrian suspension span often described as the longest swinging bridge in Pennsylvania. The location puts RV travelers within an easy drive of both Pittsburgh and rural Allegheny River country. RV options cluster in the surrounding Alle-Kiski Valley and Armstrong County countryside rather than in the borough itself. Mountain Top Campground near Tarentum is the closest full-hookup park, offering 30 and 50 amp power, water, and sewer hookups on gravel sites with valley views. Wheel-in Campground, Smith Grove Camp Grounds, Bear Ridge Campground and RV Resort, and Wallace Trailer Sales and Court round out the nearby private options. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers also operates a family campground at Crooked Creek Lake in Armstrong County, roughly a half-hour drive from Hyde Park, giving RV travelers a public-land alternative alongside the private parks.

Reservations at Crooked Creek Lake are handled through Recreation.gov, the federal booking system used by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Sites can typically be booked up to six months in advance, and stays are capped at 14 consecutive nights within any 30-day period. Park gates close nightly, so vehicles must be registered on arrival. Private parks in the area use their own systems. Mountain Top Campground takes reservations directly or through platforms such as Campspot and Hipcamp, and its rural mountain approach road requires following the campground's posted route rather than GPS shortcuts. For summer weekends, holiday periods, and fall-foliage weekends in October, book several weeks out. Midweek stays and shoulder-season dates typically have wider availability.
