Campgrounds and RV parks near Lewis Run, PA

The signature day trip is Kinzua Bridge State Park. A short walk from the parking area leads to the Kinzua Sky Walk, a 624-foot pedestrian deck built on the surviving towers of the historic Kinzua Viaduct that were left standing after a tornado, and it features a partial glass floor at the end. Observation areas and some trails typically remain open during ongoing rehabilitation work. Water and trail options sit close by. The Allegheny Reservoir is about ten minutes away, covers roughly 12,000 acres, and allows boating with no motor size limit. The Red House Area in Allegany State Park has about five miles of paved bike paths, boat and bike rentals, a sandy swimming beach, and fishing. Bradford also draws visitors to the Zippo/Case Museum and to golf at Pine Acres Golf & RV Resort.

The region has a strong four-season pattern. Bradford has a humid continental climate with very strong seasonal contrasts: summers are warm and fairly wet with June the wettest month, winters are cold and very snowy with significant lake-effect snowfall, and precipitation is spread relatively evenly through the year though winter is the driest season. Most private campgrounds and the New York state-park loops run a standard warm-weather season. Red House tent and trailer campsites at Allegany State Park typically open in mid-May and close at the end of October, while select cabins and cottages remain available year-round. The Allegany swimming season runs from late June through early September. Kinzua East KOA has historically operated its RV and tent loops seasonally, with cabin rentals available for a longer stretch; confirm current status directly with the campground before booking. July and August are peak booking months, and fall foliage from late September into mid-October draws heavy weekend traffic to the Kinzua Bridge area.

Sites near Lewis Run are wooded and hilly. Private parks along the Bradford corridor typically offer 30- and 50-amp hookups, level gravel pads, a camp store, and propane. Kinzua East KOA lists full hookups with 30- or 50-amp service and can accommodate rigs up to 80 feet. Verify amperage before booking, since some individual sites are 30-amp only. At Allegany State Park - Red House Area, expect a larger footprint, with roughly 130 campsites plus cabin loops, many of which are winterized. A campsite reservation allows one car entry at the park gate; additional vehicles pay the standard vehicle use fee. Bears are active across the region. Wildlife encounters can occur in picnic areas, cabin trails, and tent and trailer sites, and feeding or harassing wildlife, especially bears, may result in fines or eviction. Store food inside the RV and keep coolers and garbage secured.
