Worthington is a small borough in Armstrong County in western Pennsylvania, roughly 7 miles west of Kittanning along U.S. Route 422 and about 30 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. The borough sits in the valley of Buffalo Creek, a tributary of the Allegheny River, and puts RV travelers within easy reach of rolling farmland, wooded ridges, and several reservoir and river recreation areas. The closest private campgrounds to town include Smith Grove Camp Grounds, Bear Ridge Campground and RV Resort, Mountain Top Campground, Peaceful Valley Campground, and Wheel-in Campground. These are small to mid-sized parks catering to weekenders and seasonal campers, with a mix of hookup sites, tent areas, and quiet family-run atmospheres. For public-land camping, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates a 46-site family campground at Crooked Creek Lake near Ford City, a short drive south. Cook Forest State Park, an 8,500-acre Pennsylvania state park along the Clarion River in northwestern Pennsylvania, sits within about an hour's drive north and is a common longer-stay destination for RV renters using Worthington as a base.

Public campgrounds use different reservation systems. Crooked Creek Lake, run by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is reserved through Recreation.gov, with a 14-night stay limit per 30-day period. Most campsites in Pennsylvania state parks, including Cook Forest, can be reserved 11 months in advance through the DCNR ReserveAmerica portal at pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com or by phone at 888-PA-PARKS. Private parks such as Smith Grove Camp Grounds, Bear Ridge Campground and RV Resort, Mountain Top Campground, Peaceful Valley Campground, and Wheel-in Campground are booked directly with the campground by phone, email, or their own websites. For summer holiday weekends, booking 8 to 12 weeks out is prudent; for standard summer weekends, 3 to 6 weeks tends to be enough at most private parks in the area.
