Campgrounds near Andrews, South Carolina
Andrews sits in Georgetown County in South Carolina's coastal plain, roughly 40 miles inland from the Grand Strand and about an hour from Myrtle Beach. The town works well as a quieter base for RV travelers who want easy access to the Waccamaw River, Francis Marion National Forest, and the beaches around Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet without paying beachfront rates.
The closest options range from small rural parks to full-service coastal resorts. Nowhere Campground and RV Park and Big Cypress Lake RV Park and Fishing Retreat sit near Andrews itself, offering fishing-focused stays in a pine-and-cypress landscape. CrossRoads Coach Resort at the ROB caters to larger Class A rigs, while Bucksport Plantation Marina and RV Resort provides river access on the Waccamaw between Georgetown and Conway.
For a coastal state-park experience, Huntington Beach State Park on the Atlantic is the standout draw within the region, combining beach, marsh, and birding within a short drive of Andrews.
Things to do near Andrews
Beach days and salt-marsh exploring are the main draw. South Carolina's subtropical location and Atlantic exposure produce a humid climate with hot summers and mild winters, which keeps the coast usable most of the year. Huntington Beach State Park offers surf fishing, a boardwalk over the salt marsh, and access to Atalaya Castle, with Brookgreen Gardens directly across the highway.
Inland, the Black River and Waccamaw River corridors are strong for kayaking, bass and bream fishing, and wildlife viewing among cypress and tupelo. Francis Marion National Forest, south of Andrews, adds hiking and gravel-road driving.
Families typically split time between the beach, Georgetown's historic waterfront, and day trips to Myrtle Beach for the boardwalk, SkyWheel, and amusement parks.

How to book near Andrews
Huntington Beach State Park uses the South Carolina State Parks reservation system at SouthCarolinaParks.com, with a booking window that opens up to 13 months in advance for standard campsites. Coastal state park sites for summer weekends and spring break often fill within minutes of opening, so setting a reminder for the release date is essential.
Private parks including Nowhere Campground and RV Park, CrossRoads Coach Resort at the ROB, Bucksport Plantation Marina and RV Resort, and Big Cypress Lake RV Park and Fishing Retreat take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Weeknight availability is generally easier than weekends, and monthly stays are common in the shoulder seasons.
What to expect near Andrews
Sites in this region are typically level and shaded by longleaf pine or live oak. Full hookups with 50-amp service are standard at the larger private resorts, while state park sites more often offer water and 30 or 50-amp electric without sewer, with a dump station on premises.
Mosquitoes, no-see-ums, and ticks are active from spring through fall, especially near marsh and river sites. Pack repellent and check for ticks after hikes. Alligators are present in freshwater ponds and slow rivers throughout the coastal plain, so keep pets leashed and away from shorelines.
Cell coverage is generally reliable near Andrews and along the Grand Strand but can be spotty inside Francis Marion National Forest. Grocery runs are easiest in Georgetown, Conway, or Murrells Inlet.
