Campgrounds and RV parks near Edisto Beach, SC

Edisto Beach sits on Edisto Island in South Carolina's Lowcountry, roughly an hour south of Charleston. The town is small and quiet, with a grocery store, a handful of restaurants, and direct access to a shell-strewn Atlantic beach. RV travelers typically base themselves either inside Edisto Beach State Park or at private parks a short drive inland toward Charleston. Edisto Beach State Park is the anchor property, covering about 1,255 acres with maritime forest, salt marsh, and roughly 1.5 miles of beach. It operates two campgrounds: the Beach - Edisto Beach State Park loop directly behind the dunes, and Live Oak - Edisto Beach State Park on the marsh side under the oaks. Combined, the park offers 112 standard sites with water and 20/30/50-amp electric, plus five rustic walk-in tent sites in the Live Oak loop and seven cabins on the salt marsh. Private options include Tuck In the Wood Campgrounds on Edisto Island itself, along with Lake Aire RV Park Campground and Oak Plantation Campground closer to Charleston for travelers who want a shorter drive to city attractions.

Both campgrounds inside Edisto Beach State Park are booked through the South Carolina State Parks reservation system, online or by calling 1-866-345-7275. Reservations may be made up to 13 months in advance, and requests less than one day before check-in must be made directly with the park. A two-night minimum applies to campsites and cabins, and campsites are capped at six people. Because the park is one of only four oceanfront state parks in South Carolina, the Beach loop typically books out first, followed by Live Oak. For summer weekends and holidays, plan to reserve close to the 13-month opening date, or use a cancellation-watch tool. Tuck In the Wood Campgrounds, Lake Aire RV Park Campground, and Oak Plantation Campground each handle their own reservations directly and are useful backups when the state park is full.
