Campgrounds and RV parks near Hemingway, SC

Hemingway sits in northeastern Williamsburg County, at a rural crossroads once known as Lamberts before the town took the name of Dr. W. C. Hemingway in the early 1900s after he sold land to the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. The depot that followed grew into a market center for cotton and later tobacco. The surrounding area is flat, rural, and roughly an hour's drive from both Myrtle Beach and Charleston, which makes it a practical staging point for RV travelers who want quieter overnight stops between coastal destinations. Most RV inventory near Hemingway is clustered northeast toward Conway and the Waccamaw River corridor. Big Cypress Lake RV Park and Fishing Retreat, Crooked Oaks RV Park, and Bucksport Plantation Marina and RV Resort all sit within roughly a 30 to 45 minute drive, on the Conway side. To the west, closer to Lake City, CrossRoads Coach Resort at the ROB and Nowhere Campground and RV Park offer inland options away from Grand Strand traffic. Expect small, independently operated parks rather than large resort chains. Sites are typically full-hookup with 30 and 50 amp service, and several parks stay open year-round.

Most private RV parks near Hemingway take direct reservations by phone or through their websites. Big Cypress Lake RV Park and Fishing Retreat requires reservations and offers both nightly and monthly rates. Bucksport Plantation Marina and RV Resort books directly and offers daily and monthly site rentals as well as tent camping. Third-party aggregators like Good Sam and Campendium list several parks in the area, which can help compare availability across multiple sites at once. For the wider region, South Carolina State Parks use a centralized system. Reservations may be made up to 13 months in advance, either online, by phone at 1-866-345-PARK, or by contacting the park directly. Campsite and cabin rentals typically require a two-night minimum, and minimum stays may increase during busier periods. Book well ahead for spring festivals, summer weekends, and any dates overlapping Myrtle Beach special events.
