Campgrounds and RV parks near Loris, SC

The main draw is the coast. North Myrtle Beach, Cherry Grove Pier, and the wider Grand Strand are a short drive east, with public beach access, fishing piers, and the boardwalk in Myrtle Beach itself. Myrtle Beach State Park has a mile-long beach for swimming, sunbathing, and surf fishing, a pier where anglers target king mackerel, trout, and flounder, and nature trails open to hikers and bike riders. Inland, the Waccamaw River corridor offers paddling and freshwater fishing, and downtown Conway has a riverwalk and small-town restaurants. Golf is heavily concentrated along the Highway 9 and Highway 17 corridors. For families, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Daddy Joe's centers around water activities with multiple swimming pools, water slides, and a splash pad, plus mini golf, an arcade, and planned character events.

The Loris area operates on a coastal-Carolina calendar. Spring and early summer are the busiest booking windows, driven by school breaks and Myrtle Beach tourism. Sites at the larger resort campgrounds fill weeks or months ahead for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends, and holiday minimum-stay rules are common. Summer is hot and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Tropical cyclones and heat-driven convection are the main sources of rainfall from June through September. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in August and September; travelers should watch National Hurricane Center advisories and confirm each park's evacuation and refund policy before booking a fall trip. Fall shoulder season, from mid-September through November, brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and thinner crowds. Winter is mild by northern standards but cool enough that some seasonal amenities close; many parks stay open year-round for snowbirds heading to and from Florida.

Roads into Loris are mostly two-lane rural highways lined with tobacco fields and pine. Fuel and grocery stops are easy along Highway 9 and Highway 701, and Conway or North Myrtle Beach are the nearest full-service towns for RV supplies, propane, and dump-station access outside the campgrounds themselves. Sites at the larger family resorts run on concrete or gravel pads with 30 and 50 amp service, water, and sewer. The Jellystone facility offers full-hookup RV sites with pull-throughs suitable for big rigs, plus cabin and yurt rentals. Expect standard resort rules on quiet hours, pet leashing, and golf-cart use. Cell coverage is generally solid on the major carriers, though it can weaken in wooded sections between towns. Bring bug spray from late spring through early fall; mosquitoes and no-see-ums are active near any standing water.
