Overview of campgrounds near Unionville
Unionville is an unincorporated community in Bedford County in Middle Tennessee, about 50 minutes south of Nashville and set in the rolling farmland between the Duck River and the Highland Rim. RV renters use it as a quiet base for exploring the Duck River corridor, the walking-horse country around Shelbyville, and the small towns of the region, while staying within easy reach of Nashville attractions.
The closest developed public campground is Henry Horton State Park, which sits along the Duck River and mixes a drive-up RV loop with tent, primitive, and hike-in options. Private options in the area include Crossing Creeks Farm, Camper's RV Park, and, closer to the interstate, Nashville I-24 Campground. For paddlers and hunters, Yanahli WMA east of Columbia offers rustic, no-hookup camping tracts along the Duck River.
Terrain is gentle, sites tend to be shaded, and the region is far enough from major cities to feel rural without adding long drive times.
Things to do near Unionville
The Duck River is the main draw, one of the most biologically diverse rivers in North America and home to a notable variety of mussels, snails, and fish species. Local outfitters rent canoes and kayaks, and Henry Horton State Park runs guided kayak floats on its event calendar and allows bank fishing along the river.
On land, Henry Horton offers golfing, paddling, hiking, disc golf, trap and skeet shooting, and mountain biking, plus a swimming pool in season. Yanahli WMA adds hiking, birding, fishing, and horseback riding through cedar glades and hardwood forest along bluff-lined riverfront.
Day trips are easy: downtown Nashville, the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Lynchburg, and the walking-horse events in Shelbyville are all within about an hour of Unionville.

Middle Tennessee has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with mild daytime temperatures and lower humidity than midsummer. Autumn brings foliage color across the region and is a popular time for camping, and reservations at Henry Horton fill fastest on fall weekends and around holiday weekends in spring.
Summer is hot and muggy, with July highs averaging in the mid-80s and overnight lows in the mid-60s. Afternoon thunderstorms are common from June through August, and rivers can rise quickly after heavy rain.
Winter is the quiet season. Henry Horton is open year-round with online reservations, and two bathhouses operate seasonally with one remaining open through winter to accommodate tents and small campers without self-contained facilities. Freezing nights are routine in January, so RV renters should plan for cold-weather hookup use and possible icy roads after storms.

Great person with a great RV. Everything went as expected. Great communication and responses. Also went to a local RV park he recommended and was able to dump tanks, fill water and hang out on a near by lake. Great experience!

How to book campgrounds near Unionville
Henry Horton State Park is reserved through the Tennessee State Parks system. Advanced reservations may be made up to 1 year in advance, and there is a non-refundable Advanced Reservation Fee per campsite. Book online at reserve.tnstateparks.com or by phone with the park office. Popular weekends, especially in October, should be locked in months ahead.
Private parks such as Crossing Creeks Farm, Camper's RV Park, and Nashville I-24 Campground take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and many list availability on the major RV-booking platforms.
Yanahli WMA is different. It is a wildlife management area open year-round during daylight hours, with access dependent on hunting seasons and license fees that may apply. There are two designated camping locations and no online reservation system.
What to expect on the ground
At Henry Horton, the main loop is straightforward for RVs. The paved RV sites feature 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electrical and water hookups, and 19 tent-only sites sit nearby without hookups. There is no on-site sewer at the sites, so plan a dump-station stop on arrival or departure. Pets are welcome on a leash, and amenities include Wi-Fi, a newly renovated camp store, and firewood sold on site.
Sites are wooded, paved, and close to the Duck River. Campsites are limited to six people and two vehicles maximum.
Ticks, chiggers, and poison ivy are present in warm months, so bring repellent and check kids after hikes. Cell coverage is generally usable but not fast.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Unionville, TN?
An RV rental in Unionville is one of the more affordable ways to explore Middle Tennessee. Travel trailers typically start around $75 to $125 per night, Class C motorhomes average $175 to $250 nightly, and larger Class A motorhomes often run $200 and up. Campervans (Class B) generally sit around $150 to $225 per night. For a cheap RV rental in Unionville, target weekday departures and shoulder-season trips in March or November, when Bedford County rates dip noticeably. Pro tip: filter for hosts offering unlimited mileage if you plan a longer Tennessee RV trip down to Lynchburg or up to Nashville, since that single setting can save you $100 or more on a five-day rental.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Unionville,TennesseeWhat do I need to rent an RV in Unionville, Tennessee?
Renting an RV in Unionville is refreshingly simple: a regular driver's license is all you need, with no commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement required in Tennessee. To book on RVezy, you generally need to be at least 25 years old, and you'll verify your identification right inside the platform during checkout, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters are surprised how quickly the booking goes through, often within a few hours of the host accepting your request.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental in Unionville protected if something goes wrong?
Every RV rental in Unionville booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can pull onto I-24 or US-231 with real peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose your coverage level at checkout, not the host, so you can pick the option that fits your comfort level. While it's not traditional insurance, it provides meaningful financial protection for renters. Pro tip: review the included roadside assistance details before you leave Bedford County so you have the support number saved offline for the rural stretches between Shelbyville and Tullahoma.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Unionville RV rental?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and it includes a grace-period window where you can cancel for a full refund right after booking. Beyond that, the amount refunded depends on how far out you are from your trip start date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy will help with a refund or travel credit. Because the policy is handled at the platform level, you don't have to compare confusing terms from listing to listing for your RV rental in Unionville. Pro tip: book earlier rather than later for spring Bonnaroo-adjacent dates, since you'll lock in pricing and still have flexibility right after confirmation.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Unionville?
Yes, plenty of pet-friendly RV rental options in Unionville are available on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see hosts who welcome dogs and cats. Tennessee State Parks like nearby Henry Horton (about 20 minutes northwest in Chapel Hill) are pet-friendly too, with leashed pets allowed on trails and in campgrounds. The Walking Horse Greenway in Shelbyville is a fantastic leg-stretcher between drives. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees and ask about onboard pet perks like tie-out anchors or interior gates. Many Unionville hosts are dog owners themselves and have RVs already set up for four-legged travelers.
tnstateparks.com/parks/henry-hortonCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Unionville?
Yes, RV delivery in Unionville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV to your campground, drop it at a friend's farm, or even set it up in your driveway, then handle leveling, hookups, and a full walkthrough. Popular delivery destinations include Henry Horton State Park, Tims Ford State Park, and private sites around the Duck River. Use the Delivery filter to see hosts who offer this, along with their per-mile delivery fees. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer if you're attending the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville and don't want to drive a big rig through August festival traffic.
tnstateparks.com/parks/henry-hortonHow far can I drive on a Unionville RV trip?
You've got serious range from Unionville, which sits right in the heart of Middle Tennessee. Each host sets their own mileage policy, but many list daily allowances of 100 to 150 miles, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, ideal for a bigger loop. From Unionville you can reach Nashville in about 60 miles (just over 1 hour), Chattanooga in 110 miles (under 2 hours), Memphis in 230 miles (around 3.5 hours), and Great Smoky Mountains National Park in around 240 miles (4 hours). Pro tip: if you're planning a multi-state RV road trip from Unionville, filter for unlimited-mileage listings before you compare nightly rates. The math almost always works out in your favor.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Unionville,TennesseeWhere are the best campgrounds near Unionville, TN?
You're spoiled for choice. Henry Horton State Park in Chapel Hill (about 20 minutes northwest) offers full hookup sites along the Duck River with a golf course on property. Tims Ford State Park near Winchester (about an hour south) sits on a sparkling reservoir perfect for boating. Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park in Manchester (about 45 minutes east) blends history with creekside RV camping near Unionville. Nashville KOA Resort (north of town) gives easy interstate access for travelers heading toward Music City. Pro tip: Henry Horton's RV loop books up fast for fall weekends, so reserve as soon as your dates are confirmed.
tnstateparks.com/parks/henry-hortonWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Unionville?
You've got three sweet spots. Spring (April to early June) brings 65 to 80°F days, blooming dogwoods, and lush green pastures, perfect for RV camping in Unionville. Fall (late September through early November) is the local favorite, with crisp 55 to 75°F afternoons and brilliant foliage across the Highland Rim. Summer is warm and humid (often 85 to 92°F with afternoon thunderstorms), so plan for AC and shaded sites. Winters are mild (35 to 50°F) and many hosts rent year-round. Pro tip: the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in late August brings huge crowds to Shelbyville, so book your Unionville RV trip months ahead if you want to attend.
weather.gov/ohx/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay around Unionville?
You'll do great. Bedford County's rolling farm roads and quiet two-lanes like Highway 64 and Highway 41A are some of the most forgiving driving country in Tennessee, perfect when you're first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a full orientation and walkthrough at pickup, covering everything from leveling jacks to the water pump and propane, so you're not figuring it out alone. You can also message your host beforehand with any questions. Pro tip: if you're nervous about size, start with a smaller Class C motorhome or a campervan rental in Unionville, drive a backroad loop through Bell Buckle and Wartrace first, then head out to your destination once you've got the feel.
tn.gov/safety/driver-services/driver-handbooks.htmlWhat happens if I have a breakdown during my Tennessee RV trip?
Take a breath: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking, so help is one phone call away whether you're on I-24 outside Manchester or down a county lane near Bell Buckle. Coverage typically includes jump starts, tire changes, lockouts, and towing to the nearest qualified repair facility. Your host is also typically a phone call away for quick questions about the rig's quirks. Pro tip: before pulling out of Unionville, save the roadside assistance number in your phone and screenshot it in case you hit a cell-coverage dead zone in the hills around Normandy Lake. A few rural pockets between Tullahoma and Lynchburg can be patchy on certain carriers.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Unionville RV rental across state lines?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome, and an RV road trip from Unionville opens up incredible options. You can roll into Alabama (Huntsville is about 90 miles south), Kentucky (Mammoth Cave is around 130 miles north), Georgia (Chattanooga and the North Georgia mountains are about 2 hours away), and even down to the Mississippi Gulf Coast on a longer loop. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance coverage. If you're considering Canada, message the host first since cross-border travel depends on each owner's coverage. Pro tip: confirm any out-of-state plans with your host through the RVezy messaging system before booking so mileage and itinerary are aligned from the start.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on an RV trip from Unionville?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest expense after the rental itself, and Tennessee tends to have some of the lower gas prices in the country. Expect Class C motorhomes to get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A around 6 to 10 MPG, campervans 15 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. With Tennessee regular unleaded typically running below the national average, a 300-mile loop from Unionville to Nashville and back in a Class C might cost roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: the Pilot and Love's truck stops along I-24 near Manchester and Murfreesboro are RV-friendly with high-clearance lanes and easy pull-throughs.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I reserve a campground near Unionville?
Plan ahead and you'll get the pick of the litter. Tennessee State Parks like Henry Horton and Tims Ford open reservations 12 months in advance through the official reserve.tnstateparks.com system, and prime weekends (especially fall foliage in October and any weekend within an hour of Bonnaroo in June) book solid 4 to 6 months out. KOA and private parks generally accept reservations 6 to 9 months ahead. Weekday and shoulder-season trips are much more relaxed, often available a week out. Pro tip: if your dream state park site is full, check daily for cancellations 7 to 10 days before your trip. Sites open up regularly as plans change.
reserve.tnstateparks.com/What's driving like in and around Unionville?
Easygoing, mostly. Unionville sits in gentle rolling farmland with low-traffic two-lane roads like Highway 64 and Highway 41A connecting to Shelbyville (about 10 miles west) and Wartrace (about 8 miles east). Highway clearances aren't an issue on the main routes. The biggest things to watch are sharp shoulder drops on some county roads, occasional slow-moving farm equipment, and summer afternoon thunderstorms that can drop heavy rain in 15 minutes. Avoid taking taller RVs under historic rail bridges in downtown Wartrace without checking clearance signs. Pro tip: nearby Nashville traffic on I-24 is heaviest 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6:30 p.m. weekdays. Time your departures around it for a stress-free drive.
smartway.tn.gov/trafficWhat amenities do campgrounds near Unionville offer?
Most established parks near Unionville offer water and electric hookups (20/30/50 amp), and many also have full sewer connections. Henry Horton State Park has a dump station, hot showers, laundry, and a camp store; Tims Ford offers full hookup sites and a marina; Old Stone Fort has water and electric with a centralized dump station. Potable water fill-ups are available at all three. Pro tip: if you're staying somewhere without full hookups, the Henry Horton dump station is one of the most convenient places to empty tanks and refill fresh water on your way home from your RV camping trip in Unionville.
tnstateparks.com/parks/old-stone-fortWhat's included inside a typical Unionville RV rental?
More than you might expect. Most motorhome rentals in Unionville come fully equipped: a queen or king bed plus convertible dinette and sofa sleepers, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, a bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with roof AC and furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and onboard generator. Some hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor grills, and camp chairs as add-ons. Pro tip: when comparing listings, scroll to the amenities section and check the sleeps count against your group. A family RV trip in Unionville goes much smoother in a unit that sleeps two more people than you actually have, giving everyone breathing room.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Unionville,TennesseeWhat add-ons and pickup details should I know about?
Hosts in Unionville offer a great menu of extras to customize your trip. Common add-ons include linen and bedding packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, outdoor sets (chairs, mats, grills), bike racks, generator hours, and propane refills. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Unionville, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough included. Mileage policies vary: many hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per day, with overage charges of $0.30 to $0.50 per mile, while others offer unlimited mileage. Pro tip: if you want a turnkey experience, book a host who offers delivery plus a linens-and-kitchen bundle. You'll roll up to your campground and unlock the door to a fully set-up RV.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Unionville,TennesseeHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is handled entirely through RVezy, so there's no cash, checks, or side deals with hosts. You pay securely online when the host accepts your booking. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically as a hold or pre-authorization on your card) before your trip and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good condition, usually within a few days of dropoff. The deposit amount varies based on the RV and protection plan level you choose. Pro tip: take a quick video walkthrough of the RV inside and out at pickup and dropoff. It's the easiest way to protect yourself and avoid any disputes over your Unionville RV rental deposit.
