Beaver Creek camping overview
Beaver Creek is an unincorporated community in rural Burleson County in east-central Texas, roughly a twenty-minute drive from College Station and close to the northern shore of Lake Somerville. The area sits between Austin and Houston along the corridor formed by State Highway 21 and U.S. 290, and its camping options revolve around the lake, the Brazos Valley, and small private RV parks catering to travelers heading to Texas A&M University or to the reservoirs west of Houston.
The main draw for RV travelers is Lake Somerville, an 11,630-acre reservoir with two developed state-park units at Birch Creek and Nails Creek, a Corps of Engineers park system, and private marinas. Named campgrounds in the area include Rolling by the Dozen RV Park, Big Creek Marina, Birch Creek - Yaupon - Lake Somerville State Park, Brazos Valley RV Park, and Lake Somerville Marina and Campground.
Elevations are modest and the terrain is gently rolling post-oak savanna, which keeps most sites accessible for larger rigs. Bryan and College Station provide the nearest full-service grocery, fuel, and RV supply hubs.
Things to do near Beaver Creek
Water recreation on Lake Somerville is the central activity. Birch Creek and Nails Creek offer access to the lake for fishing, boating, paddling and swimming, and both units have boat ramps. Anglers target largemouth bass, catfish, and bluegill from shore and from the fishing piers.
On land, the 13-mile Lake Somerville Trailway connects the two units, and there are nearly 40 miles of trails throughout the park, open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Equestrian campsites are available for riders camping with horses, though washed-out bridges on the Trailway currently prevent traveling from one unit to the other by trail. Day trips within an hour of Beaver Creek include Texas A&M University in College Station, the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham, and the San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site.

It was a pleasure renting from Jon and his sweet wife. The description was accurate, and the accommodations and all amenities were top-notch. He is very responsive, which is very appreciative, as I reached out to some other listings with no response at all. When we arrived we also found a thoughtful surprise of a dozen of their home grown eggs! We had enough space for our UTV and 5 tall adults. We'll definitely rent from them again. This was my first time using RVezy and the process has been great.
