Campgrounds and RV parks near Bloomington, TX

Bloomington is a small community in Victoria County on the South Texas coastal plain, situated on State Highway 185 about fifteen miles southeast of the city of Victoria and roughly halfway to Port Lavaca on the Gulf. The town itself is rural, so most RV travelers use it as a quiet base for exploring the Guadalupe River corridor, San Antonio Bay, and the Matagorda Bay shoreline. State Highway 185 and nearby US 77 provide straightforward access for larger rigs. Most campgrounds in the area are private RV parks rather than state or federal campgrounds. Close-in options include QRV Victoria and Dad's RV Park on the Victoria side, Gateway to the Gulf RV Park at Victoria-Port Lavaca along the route to the coast, Papa and Maga's Calhoun's Riverside RV Retreat on the Guadalupe River, and Southbound RV Park and Cabins south of Victoria. Expect full-hookup pull-through sites, laundry, Wi-Fi, and pet-friendly policies at most parks. Southbound RV Park and Cabins offers cabin rentals in addition to RV sites, which is useful for larger family groups traveling with a rented motorhome.

Most parks in the Bloomington and Victoria area are privately operated and take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. QRV Victoria, Dad's RV Park, Gateway to the Gulf RV Park at Victoria-Port Lavaca, Papa and Maga's Calhoun's Riverside RV Retreat, and Southbound RV Park and Cabins generally handle bookings this way, so it is best to contact each operator directly. Public sites at Coleto Creek Park are reserved through the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority rather than Recreation.gov, and Texas state parks farther afield use the TPWD reservation system, which allows bookings up to five months in advance. For winter stays or holiday weekends, reserve well ahead. For summer weekday travel, shorter lead times are usually workable.
