Campgrounds and RV parks near Granger, TX

Granger sits in Williamson County in Central Texas, about 40 miles northeast of Austin, and camping in the area centers on Granger Lake, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the San Gabriel River. The lake covers roughly 4,400 acres of blackland prairie and is regionally known for crappie and white bass fishing. RV travelers have two main options: federal campgrounds inside the Corps parks around the lake, and privately operated RV parks in the surrounding countryside. Nearby private options include Retreat at 971 RV Park, Shady River RV Resort, Four Winds RV Park, East View RV Ranch, and Valley View RV Park, which typically offer full hookups and longer stay flexibility than the federal sites. The Corps operates parks on Granger Lake with developed Class A campgrounds at Wilson H. Fox, Taylor, and Willis Creek, providing electric and water hookups, restrooms, showers, and boat ramps. The town of Granger itself is small, so trip planning tends to revolve around lake access, day trips into Taylor or Austin, and quiet rural stays.

Reservations at the three developed Corps campgrounds on Granger Lake, Wilson H. Fox, Taylor, and Willis Creek, are handled through Recreation.gov or by phone at 1-877-444-6777. Sites open on a rolling six-month window at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, and spring weekends and major summer holidays sell out first, so booking early is advised. For questions about first-come, first-served or day-use access, the Granger Lake project office can be reached at 512-859-2668. Private parks such as Retreat at 971 RV Park, Shady River RV Resort, Four Winds RV Park, East View RV Ranch, and Valley View RV Park are booked directly with the operator and generally offer more flexibility for last-minute stays and monthly rates.
