Campgrounds and RV parks near Jayton, TX

Jayton sits in Kent County on the Rolling Plains of West Texas, roughly midway between Abilene and Lubbock. The town is small and rural, but it works well as a base for RV travelers heading to White River Lake, the Caprock Escarpment, and the ranch country north toward Motley County. Most campgrounds within reach are compact water-and-electric parks tied to a reservoir, a town, or a private ranch club rather than large commercial resorts. The closest developed sites are on White River Reservoir, operated by the White River Municipal Water District. The reservoir has picnic areas with 30 tables, four camping areas, two RV areas with water and electricity only, a fishing house, and a cleaning station. River Crest Road - WRMWD and White River Reservoir Marina - WRMWD are the two main RV access points on the lake. Farther out, Royal Community and RV Park and Dry Ground RV Park serve travelers wanting a hookup and a quiet stop, while Roaring Springs Ranch Club Inc offers a member-oriented ranch retreat north of the Caprock.

Reservation systems in this area are decentralized. There is no single state or federal portal covering the local parks: most bookings run through the operator directly by phone or on-site check-in. White River Reservoir sites are managed by the White River Municipal Water District, and a self-permit station (yellow stand, cash or check only) is located at camp ground 1. The district also issues OHV permits at the self-permit station. For private parks like Royal Community and RV Park, Roaring Springs Ranch Club Inc, and Dry Ground RV Park, call ahead to confirm hookups, rig-length limits, and gate hours. Roaring Springs Ranch Club is a private, member-owned club, so non-members should verify guest access before arrival. Weekends around holidays and fishing tournaments fill first, so book several weeks out when possible.
