Camping near Lolita, Texas
Lolita is a small community in southern Jackson County, Texas, on the Lavaca River between Ganado and the mid-coast bays. The community sits about two miles north of the site of Philip Dimitt's 1830 trading post and four miles south of Lake Texana. That location puts RV renters within easy reach of two very different camping zones: freshwater sites around Lake Texana to the north, and Gulf Coast bay-front parks around Port Lavaca and Matagorda Bay to the south.
Most renters use Lolita as a jump-off for Lake Texana fishing and paddling, or as a quiet inland base for day trips to the coast. Lake Texana is managed by the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority, which also runs the surrounding public-access areas. Nearby options include Twin Lakes RV Park and Mustang Wilderness - LNRA on the freshwater side, and Port Lavaca / Matagorda Bay KOA Holiday, Lighthouse Beach RV Park, and Live Oak Point RV Resort along the coast.
Expect flat terrain, live-oak bottomlands, farm roads, and steady Gulf breezes. Cell coverage is reliable on the main highways but can drop inside the LNRA wilderness area.
Things to do near Lolita
Fishing is the main draw. Lake Texana holds largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie, and the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority operates a network of public boat ramps around the lake, including one inside the Mustang Creek Wilderness Area. Down at the coast, bay fishing off piers and shallow flats produces black drum, speckled trout, red drum, and catfish.
Birding is strong year-round. The LNRA Mustang Creek Boat Ramp south of Ganado offers oak-woodland birding, with Red-shouldered Hawk, Pileated Woodpecker, Tufted Titmouse, and Carolina Chickadee. Coastal boardwalks at Lighthouse Beach draw shorebirds and waders.
Family add-ons include the splash pad, fishing pier, and beach access at Lighthouse Beach RV Park, and day trips to Rockport-Fulton, Magnolia Beach, and Indianola from the southern parks.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in this part of Texas. March through May brings mild days, active bay fishing, and peak songbird migration through the oak bottomlands around Lake Texana. Late October through early December offers warm afternoons, cooler nights, and thinner crowds, and this is when winter Texans begin arriving at coastal parks for extended stays.
Summer is hot and humid. Daytime highs on the coast routinely sit in the low nineties with high humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Weekends fill fast at bay-front parks, especially around Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day, and shaded sites are limited.
Hurricane season runs June through November on the Texas mid-coast, with peak risk August through October. Renters should track NHC advisories and confirm any evacuation policies with the campground before travel. Winter is generally mild, but occasional cold fronts drop overnight lows into the thirties and can bring hard freezes.
How to book campsites near Lolita
Private parks around Lolita take direct online reservations. Port Lavaca / Matagorda Bay KOA Holiday books through the KOA site and platform, and Lighthouse Beach RV Park is operated by the City of Port Lavaca. Live Oak Point RV Resort is a small property near Fulton with shaded sites beneath live oaks, so it tends to fill early for extended winter stays and should be booked well in advance. Twin Lakes RV Park handles bookings directly by phone or its website.
For public land on Lake Texana, Mustang Wilderness - LNRA is operated by the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority. It is a primitive, pack-in area on 250 acres of wooded lakeshore near Ganado, with 28 primitive campsites, fire rings, and a boat ramp. Vehicles are prohibited inside the campground, and LNRA does not take advance reservations, so contact LNRA directly to confirm access.
Holiday weekends, spring break, and snowbird months at coastal parks sell out first. Book six to eight weeks ahead for peak weekends.
What to expect on the ground
Coastal parks near Lolita are flat, exposed, and breezy, with bay views and full hookups the norm. Lighthouse Beach RV Park offers full hookups on paved pads, plus a lighted fishing pier, a wetlands boardwalk trail, and a splash pad. The Port Lavaca / Matagorda Bay KOA has sites ranging from 50 to 90 feet with 20/30/50-amp water and sewer hookups, plus a fishing pier, small-craft boat ramp with boat slips, splash pad, and dog park.
Inland options are quieter and more rustic. Mustang Wilderness is genuinely primitive: no vehicle access to sites, no hookups, and pack-in gear only. Twin Lakes RV Park nearby offers a more traditional hookup experience.
Bring bug spray, sun cover, and a leveling kit. Roads to the wilderness area include gravel and narrow farm-to-market segments, so long fifth-wheels should route carefully.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Lolita RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable in your RV budget, and Jackson County's gas prices tend to run a bit below the Texas state average. Expect a Class C motorhome to get about 8 to 10 miles per gallon, a Class B campervan rental Lolita to deliver 14 to 18 mpg, and a truck pulling a travel trailer around 10 to 12 mpg. With Texas regular gas typically running around $2.80 to $3.20 per gallon, a 300-mile loop in a Class C will cost roughly $90 to $120 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Edna or Ganado rather than smaller stations along FM 616, you will usually save 15 to 25 cents per gallon, which adds up fast on a 40-gallon tank.

Private parks in the Lolita area can often be booked just 2 to 4 weeks out for weekday stays. For Matagorda Bay Nature Park's beachfront sites, aim for 2 to 3 months ahead, especially around spring break and holidays. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly 5 months before your target date, log into the Texas Parks and Wildlife site right at 8 a.m. Central, and you will snag the best lakeside spots.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/park-information/reservationsWhat are the local driving conditions like around Lolita?
Driving an RV around Lolita is about as easy as Texas gets: flat coastal plains, light rural traffic, and well-maintained farm-to-market roads like FM 616, FM 234, and US 59. There are no mountain grades or tight switchbacks to worry about. Watch for occasional strong crosswinds along the open prairie (especially in spring), and slow down when crossing rural railroad crossings near Ganado. Wildlife on the road, especially deer at dawn and dusk, is the main hazard. Hurricane season (June through November) can occasionally bring heavy rain and minor coastal flooding, so check the National Weather Service Corpus Christi forecast before heading out. Pro tip: avoid driving on US 59 during shift-change hours near the Point Comfort industrial area, traffic briefly spikes around 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Mileage policies vary, so look for the daily mileage allowance on each listing, or filter for unlimited mileage. Pro tip: bundle add-ons at booking, hosts sometimes discount the package.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lolita,TexasHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and fully handled through the RVezy platform, with no cash, checks, or side deals with the host. When you book your RV rental Texas trip, your card is charged the rental total (plus any add-ons and protection plan) through RVezy's secure system. A separate refundable security deposit is held on your card before pickup, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value, and is released after your trip once the host confirms the rig was returned in good shape. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos of the RV's interior and exterior at pickup and again at return. Pro tip: dump the tanks and refuel before drop-off, both are the most common reasons for small deposit deductions in the Lolita area.
