Campgrounds and RV parks near Martindale, TX

Martindale sits along the San Marcos River in Caldwell and Guadalupe counties, roughly ten minutes east of San Marcos and about 45 minutes south of Austin. The town is small, but its stretch of the spring-fed San Marcos River is one of the busiest tubing and paddling corridors in central Texas, which shapes almost every camping option in the area. RV travelers have several riverside choices within a short drive. Pecan Park Riverside RV Park and San Marcos Springs RV Park sit closest to downtown San Marcos and offer full-hookup sites on shaded lots. Leisure Resort and San Marcos River Resort, located downstream near Fentress, cater to longer stays with pools, laundry, and river access. Cowboy RV Park provides a simpler option for travelers who mainly need a pad, power, and water. Most parks in this corridor accept large Class A rigs and travel trailers, though a few older riverside sections have tight interior roads and low-hanging pecan branches. Confirm length and height limits when booking.

Nearly all campgrounds in the Martindale area are privately owned. Pecan Park Riverside RV Park, San Marcos Springs RV Park, Leisure Resort, San Marcos River Resort, and Cowboy RV Park each take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. There is no single reservation system covering the area. For summer weekends and any holiday, book at least four to eight weeks ahead, and longer for riverside pull-throughs or sites that fit a 35-plus-foot rig. Many parks require a two-night minimum on weekends between May and September, and holiday weekends often carry a three-night minimum. State parks in the wider region, including Palmetto State Park to the southeast and McKinney Falls State Park north of Austin, are reserved through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and open a five-month booking window at 8 a.m. Central.
