Camping near Morgan's Point Resort
Morgan's Point Resort sits on the eastern shore of Belton Lake in Bell County, Texas, a Leon River reservoir operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Belton Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Belton Dam in 1954, and the 12,300-acre lake is located on the Leon River, just upstream of the confluence with the Little River. The lake is long, narrow, and winding, with many curves and coves that support boating, fishing, and camping in Central Texas.
The town itself is small and residential, with Belton and Temple just minutes away for groceries, fuel, and RV supplies. Most camping options cluster around the lakeshore or along the I-35 corridor, ranging from federal Corps parks to independently run RV parks.
Nearby options include Bird Creek RV Park, Belton RV Park, Gather Campground Bell County, Family Adventure Camp at Tahuaya, and Shining Star RV Park. Cedar Ridge Park, Live Oak Ridge Park, Westcliff Park, and White Flint Park are the fully developed Corps campgrounds offering RV camping sites on the lake, all bookable through Recreation.gov.
Things to do around Belton Lake
Belton Lake is the main draw. Anglers target hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, white bass, catfish, and sunfish, and multi-lane boat ramps at the Corps parks make launching straightforward. With 136 miles of shoreline, Belton Lake offers a wide variety of recreation activities, and the long, winding coves suit kayaks and small runabouts.
Wildlife viewing is easy year-round. Hawks, great blue herons, ducks, geese, songbirds, bobwhite quail, Rio Grande turkey, and the occasional bald eagle visit the lake area, giving birders opportunities in every season.
Off the water, downtown Belton offers boutique shops, antique stores, and restaurants, and Miller Springs Nature Center has hiking near the dam. Salado and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor are short drives south.

Central Texas has a humid subtropical climate, so timing matters. Spring, from March into May, brings wildflowers, mild temperatures, and the year's heaviest rainfall, with a real risk of severe thunderstorms and occasional flash flooding around the lake. It is also when Corps campsites at Belton Lake start filling on weekends.
Summer is hot, with highs often in the mid-90s Fahrenheit. This is peak camping season on Belton Lake, and weekend sites go quickly. Belton Lake is a popular camping destination during the summer season and reservations are limited, so planning a stay in advance helps ensure a campsite.
Fall brings cooler evenings and lighter crowds, making September through November a comfortable stretch for RV travel. Winters are short and mild by national standards, but overnight freezes occur. Cedar Ridge Park is open year-round, but from October 1 through March 1 campsites 1-40 and all screened shelters are not available.

Absolutely amazing experience! We had so much fun, and there was plenty of room for our group of 4 adults and 2 kids. Communication with the owner was excellent! They were very responsive and flexible with both pickup and drop-off. We’d definitely rent from them again if the opportunity comes up!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect RV Experience! Rented this RV for a quick 2-night birthday weekend. The owner delivered it, set it up completely, and picked it up at the end — super convenient! The RV was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Everything worked great and felt like a cozy home away from home. Highly recommend! 5/5 Stars

How to book campsites
Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Belton Lake are reserved through Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777. Individual campsites can be booked up to six months in advance, and group facilities up to one year ahead. Weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day sell out earliest, so booking as soon as the window opens is the safer play.
Check-in for reservations is 3 p.m. and check-out is 2 p.m., and gate codes for the campground are included on the Recreation.gov confirmation email. Park entrance hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and gatehouses on Belton Lake are no longer regularly manned.
Private parks such as Bird Creek RV Park, Belton RV Park, and Shining Star RV Park book directly through the operator, often with shorter lead times and monthly options.
What to expect on site
At the Belton Lake Corps parks, expect paved or gravel RV pads with water and electric hookups, covered picnic tables, and charcoal grills. Cedar Ridge Park offers 63 single and 1 double RV sites with 50-amp electric and potable water service, 4 tent sites with up to 30-amp electric and water, and 8 screened shelters with 15-amp outlets and an exterior water faucet. Sites range from heavily shaded to full sun, so shade preferences are worth noting at booking.
Quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. RV and trailer tank discharging is only allowed at designated dump stations, discharge of grey water is prohibited elsewhere, and washing vehicles, RVs, trailers, or boats in the parks is treated as grey-water dumping and is not permitted.
Cell coverage is generally reliable near the lake, and grocery and propane stops are minutes away in Belton and Temple.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Morgan's Point Resort, TX
How much does an RV rental in Morgan's Point Resort cost?
An RV rental in Morgan's Point Resort is one of the more affordable ways to enjoy Belton Lake, with nightly rates typically ranging from about $90 to $150 for travel trailers, $125 to $200 for Class C motorhomes, and $200 plus for larger Class A rigs. If you're searching for a cheap RV rental in Morgan's Point Resort, travel trailers and pop-ups give you the best value, especially midweek or in shoulder months like March, April, October, and November. Pro tip: book at least 30 days ahead of Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends when Belton Lake fills up fast, and message hosts about weekly discounts which can shave 10 to 20 percent off your total.
morganspointresorttx.com/Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Morgan's Point Resort, TX?
Good news: a regular Class C driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Morgan's Point Resort, no commercial driver's license (CDL) or special endorsement is required in Texas for personal recreational RVs. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the platform during booking, so there are no surprise paperwork trips. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association and pair it with your home license. Most first-time renters are surprised how smooth the whole process is.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included with my RVezy rental in Morgan's Point Resort?
Every RVezy booking includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can pull out of Morgan's Point Resort with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level at checkout (not the host), so you can pick the tier that fits your family and driving comfort. It isn't traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial protection so a stray tree branch at Cedar Ridge Park or a scraped awning won't ruin your vacation. Pro tip: review the coverage options carefully during booking and select the tier that matches your itinerary, then enjoy Belton Lake worry-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Morgan's Point Resort RV trip?
Plans change, and RVezy gets it. Every booking is backed by an RVezy cancellation policy (not the host's) that includes a money-back grace period after you book and protections if a host cancels on you. That's reassuring in Central Texas where the occasional spring storm rolls across Bell County. Cancellation terms aren't buried in individual listings because the policy is platform-wide and handled by RVezy support. Pro tip: book earlier rather than later to lock in the best lakefront RVs near Belton Lake, knowing the cancellation policy gives you built-in flexibility if your plans shift.

Absolutely, and your pup will love it here. Plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Morgan's Point Resort, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see them instantly. Belton Lake's shoreline, Summers Mill Trail, and the leash-friendly paths around Cedar Ridge Park and Live Oak Ridge Park are all welcoming to leashed dogs, and most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) campgrounds around the lake allow pets on a 6-foot leash. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee, then pack a tie-out, water bowl, and a towel for muddy paws after a swim at the resort's beach.
swf-wc.usace.army.mil/belton/Recreation/index.shtmlCan the RV be delivered right to my campsite in Morgan's Point Resort?
Yes, RV delivery in Morgan's Point Resort is one of the best-kept secrets for first-timers. Many local hosts deliver and set up the motorhome or travel trailer directly at Cedar Ridge Park, Live Oak Ridge Park, Westcliff Park, or even a private lakefront home in the resort, so you never have to tow or maneuver a big rig yourself. They'll level it, hook up water, sewer, and 30/50-amp power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see who offers it. Pro tip: delivery to USACE parks around Belton Lake is especially popular because the loops can be tight for larger Class A coaches.

Pro tip: message the host with your itinerary and many will bundle a mileage package that saves you money.

Winters are mild, with January highs near 58°F, making it one of the few U.S. lake destinations where you can comfortably camp year-round. Pro tip: aim for late April for wildflowers along FM 439 and the bluebonnets that paint the Belton Lake shoreline.
weather.gov/ewx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You're in great shape, first time renting an RV is exactly who RVezy is built for. Every host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slide-outs, water tanks, leveling, and propane, and you can text or call them throughout your trip with questions. Morgan's Point Resort itself is small, quiet, and easy to navigate, with wide streets and almost no city traffic, perfect for getting comfortable behind the wheel before heading to a campground. Pro tip: ask your host to demo dumping the tanks before you leave the driveway, that single 10-minute lesson is the one thing every first-timer wishes they paid more attention to.
txdps.state.tx.us/driverlicense/What happens if something goes wrong on the road during my RV rental in Morgan's Point Resort?
Help is one phone call away. Every RVezy booking comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included with the renter protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing, so you're never stranded between Morgan's Point Resort and your next stop. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center, and your host is typically just a text away for quick questions about the RV itself. Pro tip: save the RVezy support contact and your host's number to your phone before you pull out of the driveway, that 30-second step turns potential stress into a quick call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trip routes from Morgan's Point Resort?

Head about 70 miles south on I-35 to Austin for live music and Lady Bird Lake, 60 miles north to Waco for the Magnolia Silos and Cameron Park, around 150 miles southwest to the Hill Country wineries near Fredericksburg, or 150 miles south to San Antonio's River Walk. For a longer loop, Galveston Beach is about 230 miles southeast. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals, so keep your adventures stateside. Pro tip: I-35 traffic between Austin and San Antonio is brutal on Friday afternoons, so leave early or take the TX-130 toll road as a faster alternative.
txdot.gov/What should I budget for fuel on my Belton Lake RV trip?
Fuel is one of the friendlier line items in Texas, with Bell County gas prices typically running 20 to 40 cents below the national average. Plan on roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for Class A motorhomes, 10 to 14 MPG for Class C, and 14 to 18 MPG for travel trailers towed by a truck. From Morgan's Point Resort, a round trip to Austin uses about 12 to 15 gallons in a Class C, or roughly $40 to $55 at current prices. Pro tip: fuel up at the Buc-ee's in Temple just 15 minutes away, prices are consistently among the lowest in the area and the brisket sandwiches make the stop worth it.

Lock in your campsite as early as you can. Shoulder-season weekends (March, October, November) usually have availability 3 to 4 weeks out. The main thing to watch for is summer afternoon thunderstorms that can drop heavy rain and gusty winds from May through September, plus the occasional deer crossing on FM 439 at dawn and dusk. Pro tip: avoid I-35 through Austin between 3 and 7 p.m. on weekdays, take the TX-130 toll loop east of the city instead and you'll save 30 to 45 minutes easily.

Cedar Ridge Park has 63 sites with 50-amp electric and water, Live Oak Ridge has a dump station and bath houses with showers, and Westcliff Park features waterfront 50-amp sites. Full sewer hookups at individual sites are less common at Corps parks, so plan to dump on your way out. Pro tip: keep a 25-foot freshwater hose and a 25-foot sewer hose minimum, Corps sites are spacious and the hookups aren't always close.

Class B campervan rentals in Morgan's Point Resort are more compact but still include a kitchenette, bed, and basic bath. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Morgan's Point Resort, Belton, or Temple, with delivery available for an additional fee. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment and released after your trip, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition you received it. Pro tip: do a thorough walkthrough video with your host at both pickup and drop-off, time-stamped on your phone. That 5-minute habit protects your deposit, and most Morgan's Point Resort hosts genuinely appreciate guests who take the time to do it right.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I dump tanks and fill fresh water near Morgan's Point Resort?
You've got convenient options close by. Sanitary dump stations are available at Cedar Ridge Park, Live Oak Ridge Park, and Westcliff Park (free for registered campers, small fee for day-use). Potable water fill stations sit near each campground's entrance. For non-campers, the Belton Lake Office at 3110 FM 2271 can point you to the nearest public dump, and many travel centers along I-35 in Temple and Salado offer dump and fill services for around $10 to $15. Pro tip: empty your black tank first, then gray, and rinse your sewer hose with the gray water last, that's the trick every seasoned RVer swears by and it'll keep your rental smelling fresh the whole trip.
