Campgrounds near Santa Anna, Texas
Santa Anna sits in Coleman County in the Texas Hill Country transition zone, roughly halfway between Abilene and Brownwood on US-84 and US-67. RV travelers use it as a quiet base for exploring Lake Brownwood, Lake Coleman, and the ranch country of central Texas. The town itself is small, with a historic square, basic groceries, and fuel, so most visitors head a short drive out to lakeside sites.
The closest RV options include M Bar H Lodge and RV Park in Santa Anna itself, plus Wall's Ponderosa RV Park & Marina and Sandy Beach RV Park on nearby lakes. The Hideout Golf Club and Resort for Members caters to members with on-site RV amenities.
For a public-lands option, Council Bluff at Lake Brownwood State Park is about an hour northeast. It sits in the northwestern section of the park on the shoreline of the roughly 7,300-acre reservoir and is managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Things to do near Santa Anna
Water recreation drives most trips. Lake Brownwood supports boating, bass and catfish angling, swimming, and paddling, and the state park offers a fishing pier and shoreline access. Lake Coleman, just west of Santa Anna, adds more open water for boaters and anglers.
On land, Lake Brownwood State Park has nearly six miles of trails, including short interpretive loops and the 2.9-mile Nopales Ridge Trail, which is the only route open to biking. Wildlife viewing turns up white-tailed deer, armadillos, raccoons, foxes, and a wide variety of birds across three overlapping eco-regions.
In town, Santa Anna Mountain is a recognizable landmark visible for miles. Day trips reach Brownwood shops and restaurants, the small museums in Coleman, and Abilene about 65 miles northwest.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in this part of Texas. Spring brings wildflowers, mild days, and the heaviest rain of the year, with May typically the wettest month and thunderstorms possible. Fall cools off gradually and is popular for lake weekends and hunting-season stays on private ranches.
Summer is hot. Daytime highs routinely sit in the mid-90s, so shaded sites, hookups with reliable power for air conditioning, and lake access matter. This is peak season at Lake Brownwood State Park, and full-hookup sites at Council Bluff book out well in advance for weekends and holidays.
Winters are short and mild, with occasional cold fronts and rare snow. Burn bans are common in dry stretches across Coleman and Brown counties. Check park alerts before arrival, since prescribed burns and lake conditions can temporarily affect access.
How to book campgrounds near Santa Anna
Council Bluff and other loops at Lake Brownwood State Park are booked through the Texas State Parks reservation system, online or by phone. Most overnight camping and lodging reservations may be made up to five months in advance, and full-hookup sites fill first for spring, summer, and holiday weekends. A daily entrance fee applies on top of the site charge, and a Texas State Park Pass covers entry for a year.
Private parks near Santa Anna, including M Bar H Lodge and RV Park, Wall's Ponderosa RV Park & Marina, and Sandy Beach RV Park, generally take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. The Hideout Golf Club and Resort for Members is member-oriented, so confirm access requirements before booking.
What to expect on the ground
Roads into the area are two-lane highways with occasional cattle crossings and slow zones through small towns. Cell coverage is decent along US-84 and US-67 but can drop off at lakeside sites. Fuel and groceries are limited in Santa Anna itself; stock up in Brownwood or Coleman if arriving after hours.
At Lake Brownwood State Park, maximum trailer or RV length varies by site, with some Willow Point sites shorter and Council Bluff pads accommodating longer rigs. Two vehicles are allowed per site at most Texas state parks, with overflow parking for extras. Pets are welcome on leash but not permitted inside park buildings.
Expect rocky ground, mesquite, and open sky. Summer visitors should plan for heat, sun exposure, and afternoon storms.
