Campgrounds and RV parks near Seven Points, TX

Cedar Creek Lake is the main draw. Visitors use it for largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie fishing, wakeboarding, tubing, and pontoon cruising, with public boat ramps ringing the shoreline. Bank fishing and lakeside cookouts are easy from most RV parks in Seven Points. At Purtis Creek State Park, families can fish from piers, swim in a designated area during daylight hours, and paddle the lake. Only 50 motorized boats are allowed on the water at a time on a first-come, first-served basis, which keeps things calm for kayaking, canoeing, and shoreline casting. Largemouth bass over 16 inches are catch and release only. On-land options include the 4.1-mile Wolfpen Hike and Bike Trail, the 1.7-mile Beaver Slide Nature Path along the lakeshore, and First Monday Trade Days in nearby Canton, one of the largest flea markets in the country.

The area operates on a year-round camping calendar, but demand shifts sharply with the seasons. Spring, from March through May, brings mild temperatures and some of the wettest months of the year, with April and May producing frequent thunderstorms. Wildflowers and active fishing make it a popular window despite the rain risk. Summer is peak season. Highs routinely reach the low to mid 90s from June through August, lake traffic surges, and holiday weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day book out well in advance at both private parks and Purtis Creek State Park. Burn bans are common in dry stretches, restricting wood fires and often limiting cooking to charcoal or containerized fuel. Fall cools quickly after September and delivers some of the most comfortable camping weather of the year, with the first freeze typically arriving in late November. Winter stays mild by North American standards but can bring cold fronts and occasional freezing rain; some private parks offer weekly rates during this slower period.

Cedar Creek Lake is a developed reservoir, not a wilderness setting. Private RV parks in Seven Points generally offer paved or gravel pads, full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, laundry, restrooms with hot showers, and communal amenities such as pools, clubhouses, and small camp stores. Cell coverage on major carriers is generally reliable throughout the area. Purtis Creek State Park is quieter and more rustic. It has 59 campsites with water and electricity, five walk-in tent sites, and 13 primitive hike-in sites reached by a hike of at least 0.65 miles. Gates are open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and after-hours arrivals use a self-pay envelope system at the Iron Ranger, with registration completed at park headquarters the next morning. Expect summer heat, biting insects near the water, and occasional severe thunderstorms. Pack insect repellent, sunscreen, and life jackets, and check current burn-ban status with the park before arrival.
