Campgrounds and RV parks near Weimar, TX

The Weimar area works well as a base for exploring the Painted Churches of Schulenburg and High Hill, a cluster of historic Czech and German parish churches known for elaborate interior murals and faux-marble finishes. St. Mary's in High Hill, often called the Queen of the Painted Churches, sits nearby. Round Top, famous for its twice-yearly antiques fair, is a short drive northwest and draws heavy RV traffic in spring and fall. Outdoor options include day trips to Stephen F. Austin State Park near Sealy and Lake Somerville State Park to the north, both within reasonable driving distance for hiking, fishing, and paddling. In town, travelers will find small-town cafes, BBQ, and local history stops. Columbus, Flatonia, and La Grange add additional dining and grocery options along the I-10 route.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RV travel in this part of Texas. March through May brings wildflowers, mild temperatures, and the spring Round Top Antiques Show, which drives heavy demand at nearby RV parks. October and early November offer similar comfort with lower humidity, along with the fall Round Top show that stretches across mid to late October. Summer is hot and humid, with August highs commonly in the mid 90s and heat indexes higher. Air conditioning, shaded sites, and 50-amp service become priorities. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with tropical remnants occasionally tracking inland across Colorado County. Winters are mild but variable. Daytime highs are often pleasant, though occasional cold fronts can drop overnight lows below freezing for a night or two. Most area RV parks operate year-round, but freeze precautions on water hookups are worth planning for in January.

Parks in the Weimar and Schulenburg area are generally small to mid-sized, with a rural feel and quick highway access. Expect full hookups, gravel or concrete pads, and a mix of pull-through and back-in sites. Cell service is typically reliable along the I-10 corridor, though it can weaken on ranch roads. Shade varies by park. Some sites sit under mature oaks, while others are open pasture with limited tree cover, which matters in summer. Traveler-oriented parks near the interstate tend to be quieter than expected given the highway, but sites closest to the frontage road will hear traffic. Grocery, fuel, propane, and RV supply runs are easiest in Columbus, Schulenburg, or La Grange. Cash or card is standard; some smaller parks prefer advance payment by phone.
