Campgrounds near Veyo, Utah
Veyo sits in western Washington County, Utah, along State Route 18 north of St. George, on the edge of the Dixie National Forest. The village serves as a cooler, higher-elevation base for RV travelers exploring southwestern Utah's red-rock country, with Snow Canyon State Park, Gunlock Reservoir, and the Pine Valley area all within reach.
Campground options range from developed state park sites with hookups to private resorts and canyon sites. Snow Canyon State Park has 36 sites including partial hookups, tent camping, hike-in, and group camping, while Gunlock State Park offers 30 sites, all with power, water, and a covered table structure, plus a dump station, hot showers, and flush toilets. Private options include Holmstead Ranch Resort, Veyo Pool and Crawdad Canyon, and Hidden Springs RV Resort - Utah.
Southern Utah's desert climate means summer temperatures frequently exceed 100°F in the valley, while winter nights can drop below freezing at Veyo's higher elevation, so trip timing matters when choosing between the valley floor and cooler sites.
Things to do near Veyo
Veyo Pool and Crawdad Canyon is a spring-fed desert oasis where temperatures typically run 12 to 15 degrees cooler in the canyon than in St. George. Visitors can swim in the natural spring pool, catch and release crawdads in the creek, rock climb on more than 230 bolted basalt routes ranging from 5.6 to 5.13, or walk the shaded canyon.
Snow Canyon State Park is the headline outdoor draw, with hiking, biking, horseback riding, and photography among red Navajo sandstone and black lava rock. The 7,400-acre park has more than 20 miles of trails accessible directly from the campground.
Gunlock Reservoir supports motorized boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing, and fishing, with kayak and paddleboard rentals available on site. OHV trails are accessible from the park, and Holmstead Ranch Resort adds family-oriented amenities in a private-resort setting near Enterprise.

The Veyo and greater St. George area is a shoulder-season destination. Early spring and fall use of Snow Canyon State Park is especially appealing due to southern Utah's moderate climate, and the park operates year-round. March through May and September into November typically bring the most comfortable hiking and cycling weather, along with peak campground demand.
Summer is hot in the lower elevations. Days routinely reach into the upper 90s and low 100s in St. George, and Snow Canyon posts heat safety alerts when temperatures exceed 105°F. Many RV travelers plan early-morning hikes, midday swims, and evening drives. Veyo's higher elevation runs several degrees cooler than the valley, which helps at night. Flash flood risk exists during monsoon season from July through September.
Winter is the quiet season. Days are mild, nights are cold, and light snow is possible at Veyo's elevation, but Snow Canyon and Gunlock campgrounds and most private RV resorts in the corridor remain open. Crowds drop sharply from December into February.

Wonderful experience! Shaunna was great to work with! Prompt communication. She delivered and set-up, and was flexible with our arrival and departure times. Had an amazing time at Zion!

Loved our experience with Sandy from start to finish. He communicated very well, including letting us know about the need to reserve a campsite ahead of time. The camper was very well stocked with kitchen items. The beds were soft and well prepared. They met us when we arrived to set up the RV and explain everything. The weather was very cold and so the water froze one morning. Sandy came right over within minutes and helped us get it going again. Very nice people and very honest. There were extra things we had ordered that we didn’t need so he offered to takeoff those charges. We would absolutely come back and use them again. We were a family with small children and they even agreed that it felt like home. Thank you for a great experience!
Catherine R. - Jan 2026
Sandy's bunkhouse RV trailer was amazing and had pretty much all the amenities we needed! Sandy was super communicative and helpful throughout the entire process. The delivery/pickup was smooth and easy, would definitely recommend to anyone!

How to book campgrounds near Veyo
Utah's state parks use a central reservation system through ReserveAmerica. At Snow Canyon, reservations can be made 48 hours to 4 months in advance online, and camping within 48 hours is walk up only. Popular weekends in spring and fall sell out as soon as the window opens, so booking near the four-month mark is advisable.
Gunlock State Park is now fully reservable through the same Utah State Parks portal on ReserveAmerica, with all 30 sites bookable in advance. Individual site cancellations made four days or more before arrival incur a cancellation fee in addition to the reservation fee, and cancellations made less than four days in advance forfeit one night's fee plus the cancellation and reservation fees.
Private options such as Holmstead Ranch Resort, Veyo Pool and Crawdad Canyon, and Hidden Springs RV Resort - Utah are booked directly with the property.
What to expect on the ground
Expect a mix of paved and unpaved access. Paved roads reach both Snow Canyon and Gunlock, but some backcountry and dispersed areas in the region involve dirt or sandy tracks better suited to high-clearance vehicles. Larger rigs are best suited to Snow Canyon, Gunlock, and the private RV resorts.
Sites at Snow Canyon are tucked against red sandstone walls and can be tight, with limited shade and a desert environment throughout. Gunlock's layout is friendlier to trailers and toy haulers: the park includes 25 pull-through sites and 5 back-in sites, all with power, water, and a covered table structure, and a dump station is available on site. Shade is minimal at Gunlock, so plan for sun cover.
Bring extra drinking water, and plan for wide day-to-night temperature swings, especially at Veyo's elevation.

An RV rental in Veyo is one of the more affordable ways to explore southern Utah's red rock country. On RVezy, you'll typically find travel trailers from around $90 to $150 per night, campervans from $125 to $200, and Class C motorhomes from $175 to $300 per night, depending on size and season. Spring (March to May) and fall (September to October) bring peak pricing because of Zion and Snow Canyon traffic, so booking a cheap RV rental in Veyo is easiest in summer or midwinter. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Veyo,UtahWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Veyo, Utah?
You're covered with just your everyday driver's license. Utah doesn't require a CDL or any special endorsement for the RVs available on RVezy, including Class A motorhomes and large fifth wheels. To rent an RV in Veyo, you generally need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID during checkout. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit and you're set. Most first-timers are surprised how quick and painless the approval process really is.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental in Veyo protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RVezy booking in Veyo comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built in, so you can hit Highway 18 with confidence. The protection plan covers most damages to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose your coverage level during checkout (not the host), so you can pick what feels right. Coverage tiers vary in deductible and included benefits. Pro tip: review the protection tiers at booking and pick the middle option if you're a first-time renter heading into Utah's national parks.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Veyo RV trip?
You can book your Veyo RV trip with peace of mind. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. The full policy is shown during checkout before you confirm. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or helps you rebook. Pro tip: book early for spring break or fall foliage season at higher elevations near Pine Valley, knowing the cancellation terms are clear and consistent across every RVezy listing.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Veyo?
Yes, bringing your pup along is easy. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see Veyo-area RVs that welcome dogs, and many hosts charge only a small pet fee (typically $25 to $75 per trip). Veyo is a fantastic launch pad for dog lovers: Snow Canyon State Park allows leashed dogs on the Whiptail Trail, and the BLM lands around Gunlock Reservoir are dog-friendly too. Note that Zion National Park only allows pets on the paved Pa'rus Trail, so plan accordingly. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet details and ask about a fenced setup spot at your campground.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/snow-canyon/Can the RV be delivered to my campsite near Veyo?
Yes, and it's one of the best ways to start your trip stress-free. Many Veyo and St. George area hosts offer RV delivery in Veyo and surrounding spots like Snow Canyon State Park, Gunlock State Park, and Sand Hollow. They'll drive the RV to your site, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees usually run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location. Pro tip: filter listings by Delivery on RVezy, then ask your host to deliver to Snow Canyon Campground, only 15 minutes from Veyo and stunning at sunset.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/snow-canyon/camping/How far can I drive on a Veyo RV trip, and what are mileage policies?
You have plenty of room to roam. Most hosts on RVezy include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect for a longer Utah loop. From Veyo, you're about 25 minutes to St. George, 1 hour to Zion National Park, 2.5 hours to Bryce Canyon, 3 hours to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and about 2 hours to Las Vegas. Extra miles typically cost $0.30 to $0.45 each, so estimate your route before booking. Pro tip: if you're planning the classic Mighty 5 RV road trip from Veyo, filter specifically for unlimited mileage listings to keep your budget predictable.
nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Veyo for RV camping?
You've got fantastic options within 30 minutes of Veyo. Snow Canyon State Park Campground offers sites with full and partial hookups tucked between red sandstone cliffs (book up to 4 months ahead). Baker Dam Recreation Area, just minutes north of Veyo, is a quiet BLM spot with first-come, first-served sites and great stargazing. Gunlock State Park has lakeside camping perfect for paddleboarding. For full resort amenities, Temple View RV Resort in nearby St. George offers pools, laundry, and pull-through sites. Pro tip: Snow Canyon books up fast for spring, so reserve through Utah State Parks' system the moment your dates open.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/snow-canyon/camping/When is the best time to visit Veyo in an RV?
Veyo has one of the most generous RV seasons in Utah thanks to its high desert setting near 4,500 feet elevation. Spring (March to May) brings 60s to 70s F and wildflowers in Snow Canyon, making it the sweet spot. Fall (September to November) is equally gorgeous with mild days and crisp nights. Summers are hot (highs in the 90s F) but more bearable than nearby St. George thanks to Veyo's slightly cooler elevation. Winters are mild (40s to 50s F daytime) with rare snow, making December through February an underrated time for an RV trip from Veyo. Pro tip: time your visit for late October when Pine Valley's aspens turn gold just 20 minutes uphill.
weather.gov/slc/I'm a first-time RV renter. Will I be supported?
Yes, first time renting an RV is much easier than people expect, especially in Veyo. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and dump procedures before you drive off. You can message your host with questions before booking, during your trip, and after. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: start with a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Veyo for your first trip, and book two nights at Snow Canyon Campground so you can practice setup just 15 minutes from town.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002180533-GuestsWhat if I have a breakdown or issue on the road near Veyo?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so whether you're on Highway 18 heading to Pine Valley, parked at Gunlock Reservoir, or rolling through Zion's switchbacks, help is one phone call away. Roadside covers common needs like flat tires, lockouts, jump-starts, fuel delivery, and towing. Your host is also a direct lifeline for questions about quirks specific to their RV. Pro tip: save your host's number and the RVezy support line in your phone before leaving the driveway, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and plate so you can share details quickly if needed.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Veyo RV rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?
Yes, multi-state RV road trips from Veyo are very popular. You can freely travel to Nevada (Las Vegas is about 2 hours), Arizona (Grand Canyon North Rim is about 3 hours), California, Colorado, and beyond. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed with host approval and additional documentation, so message the host directly before booking if that's your plan. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend across that border. Pro tip: the Grand Circle loop from Veyo, hitting Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands, takes about 7 to 10 days and is one of the best RV road trips in North America.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and what's gas costing near Veyo?
Budgeting fuel for your Veyo RV trip is straightforward. Campervans typically get 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 mpg, Class A motorhomes 6 to 10 mpg, and trucks pulling travel trailers 9 to 13 mpg. Gas in the St. George/Veyo area generally tracks close to the Utah state average, and you'll find stations in Veyo, Central, and along I-15 in St. George. Diesel is widely available in St. George. Pro tip: top off in St. George before heading toward Zion or Pine Valley, since prices often climb once you're closer to the national parks.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Veyo?
For the best sites, book early. Snow Canyon, Sand Hollow, and Gunlock State Parks open reservations 4 months in advance through Utah's state parks reservation system, and spring weekends can sell out within minutes. For national park campgrounds like Zion's Watchman, reserve through Recreation.gov up to 6 months in advance. Private parks like Temple View RV Resort in St. George usually have 2 to 4 weeks of lead time, even in peak season. Pro tip: set a calendar alert for exactly 4 months before your trip start date for Snow Canyon, log in a few minutes early, and you'll lock in the best red rock sites.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/snow-canyon/camping/What are driving conditions like around Veyo?
Driving an RV around Veyo is refreshingly manageable. Highway 18 between St. George and Veyo is a wide, well-paved two-lane road with gentle grades and minimal traffic. You'll climb from about 2,800 feet in St. George to 4,500 feet in Veyo, so expect some engine work on the way up. Winter snow is rare but possible at higher elevations near Pine Valley, so check Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) road conditions before heading uphill from December through March. Watch for cattle near open-range stretches and strong crosswinds on exposed sections. Pro tip: check UDOT's free traffic tool before driving Highway 18 in winter, and review Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel size restrictions if your route includes it.
udot.utah.gov/connect/public/road-weather-alerts/What amenities will I find at campgrounds around Veyo?
Campgrounds near Veyo are well-equipped for an easy stay. Snow Canyon State Park offers full and partial hookups (water, electric, and some sewer sites), plus a dump station and potable water fill. Sand Hollow State Park offers full hookup sites and hot showers. For dump and water fill on the road, several travel centers along I-15 offer access for a small fee. Gunlock and Baker Dam are more primitive, so arrive with full freshwater and empty tanks. Pro tip: plan a dump and refill stop on the way to Zion so you arrive at your campsite ready to relax.
stateparks.utah.gov/parks/snow-canyon/camping/What features will my RV rental in Veyo come with?
Expect a fully outfitted home on wheels. Most motorhome rentals in Veyo come with a queen or king bed, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, roof-mounted air conditioning (essential for southern Utah summers), propane heat, a generator or solar setup, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and camp chairs. Wi-Fi varies, so plan to use your phone hotspot in remote areas. Travel trailers and fifth wheels offer similar amenities but require a tow vehicle. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and check the listing photos carefully for AC and generator, since both are essential for summer trips around St. George and Zion.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Veyo,UtahWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect?
You can tailor your Veyo RV trip with helpful extras. Common host add-ons include linen and kitchen kits ($30 to $75), generator use ($3 to $5 per hour), portable BBQs, bike racks, camp chairs, outdoor mats, and even stargazing telescopes (a hit in southern Utah's dark skies). Pickup is typically at the host's home in Veyo, Central, or St. George, with delivery available for an extra fee. Mileage is usually 100 to 150 free miles per night, with overage at about $0.35 per mile. Pro tip: bundle the linen kit and generator package with delivery to Snow Canyon for a true first-class first-timer experience, all arranged in the message thread before booking.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Veyo,UtahHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and transparent. You pay through RVezy at booking (not directly to the host), and your total includes the rental rate, service fees, your selected protection plan, and any add-ons you chose. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before pickup and released after return assuming no damages. All major credit cards are accepted. Pro tip: do a thorough video walkaround of the RV at pickup and dropoff with your host, noting any existing scratches or dings, so your deposit comes back fast and you can start planning your next family RV trip in Veyo.
