Campgrounds and RV parks near Swanton, VT

Swanton sits in Franklin County on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain, minutes from the Canadian border and adjacent to the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge. RV travelers use the town as a base for the northern Champlain Valley, the Missisquoi River delta, and day trips into Quebec. The area mixes a state-run park, private lakeside RV parks, and cross-border Quebec campgrounds within a short drive. Inside Vermont, Lake Carmi State Park is the closest full-service public campground, roughly 20 minutes east of Swanton near Enosburg Falls. Sunset Rock Rv Park & Lake Shore and Maple Grove Campground offer private-park alternatives with the amenities RV travelers typically look for. Just across the border in Quebec, Kirkland Camping Plage Kirkland and Camping Plage Champlain sit on the north shore of Missisquoi Bay and are useful options when Vermont sites are booked out. Travelers crossing into Canada should carry passports and check current border-crossing rules before booking.

Lake Carmi State Park takes reservations through the Vermont State Parks system online or by phone, up to eleven months ahead on a rolling basis. The park has 138 tent and RV sites, 35 lean-tos, and 2 cabins, with an RV dump station but no site hookups. Most sites are large enough to accommodate self-contained RVs. Private parks such as Sunset Rock Rv Park & Lake Shore and Maple Grove Campground book directly with the operator, typically by phone or through the campground website. Quebec options such as Kirkland Camping Plage Kirkland and Camping Plage Champlain use their own booking systems and require a passport at the border. Booking summer weekends eight to twelve weeks out is realistic, and foliage weekends in late September and early October should be locked in earlier.
