Campgrounds and RV parks near Royal City, WA

Royal City sits in the Columbia Basin of central Washington, on the high-desert plateau between the Columbia River and Potholes Reservoir. The town is a practical base for RV travelers heading to Grant County's chain of irrigation lakes, state recreation lands, and waterfowl refuges. State Route 26 connects the area east to Othello and west to Vantage, while State Route 262 runs north toward O'Sullivan Dam and the reservoir. Campground options range from full-hookup commercial parks in town to state and federal lands a short drive away. Royal City Public Golf Course and RV Park and Sundesert RV Park serve travelers who want serviced sites close to town. Potholes State Park, roughly half an hour north on the reservoir's south shore, offers reservable RV sites, cabins, and a developed campground with hookups. For anglers and dispersed campers, Beda Lake Public Access and Martha Lake - WDFW Land provide WDFW-managed shoreline access in the surrounding lake country. These sites have minimal facilities but are useful for short stays focused on fishing and wildlife viewing.

Reservation systems vary by landowner. Potholes State Park offers campsites with water and electrical hookups along the reservoir, and reservations are available through the Washington State Parks reservation system at reservations.washington.gov. Phone booking is also available through the Washington State Parks call center. Sites can be reserved up to nine months in advance of the arrival date. Parking at any Washington State Parks site requires a Discover Pass, which is separate from camping fees. Anglers, hunters, and others who park on WDFW recreation lands need either a WDFW Vehicle Access Pass or the Discover Pass; most annual fishing and hunting licenses include a complimentary Vehicle Access Pass for WDFW lands. Private parks such as Royal City Public Golf Course and RV Park and Sundesert RV Park are booked directly with the operator. WDFW water-access sites like Beda Lake and Martha Lake are first-come, first-served where overnight use is allowed.
