Campgrounds and RV parks near Tomahawk, WI

Tomahawk sits in Lincoln County in the Wisconsin Northwoods, at the confluence of the Wisconsin, Tomahawk, and Somo rivers and the head of Lake Mohawksin. The area is built around water: a chain of flowages, hardwood-and-pine forest, and a network of ATV, snowmobile, and multi-use trails draw RV travelers from spring thaw through the fall color season. Campgrounds in the immediate area range from small municipal riverfront sites to larger private resorts. SARA Park Campground is a city-run park on the Wisconsin River with electric and water hookups, a beach, and a boat landing. Terrace View Campsites, Sure-wood Forest Campground, and Northforest Campgrounds are wooded private parks close to town. Willow's End Resort & Campground sits north of Tomahawk on the Willow Reservoir and offers waterfront and off-water RV sites plus year-round-access options. Council Grounds State Park, a short drive south near Merrill, adds a state-run option with a wooded family campground on the Wisconsin River and Lake Alexander.

Booking channels vary by operator. SARA Park Campground takes reservations through the City of Tomahawk's online portal, with a maximum continuous stay of 14 days. Council Grounds State Park uses the Wisconsin DNR online reservation system, also reachable by calling 1-888-WIPARK, and sites can be booked up to 11 months in advance of the arrival date. A Wisconsin State Park vehicle admission sticker is required for any vehicle stopping in state parks and campgrounds. Private parks including Terrace View Campsites, Sure-wood Forest Campground, Northforest Campgrounds, and Willow's End Resort & Campground handle reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. For summer weekends, the Northwoods Fall Ride in September, and Kwahamot Water Ski Show dates, reserve as early as possible: waterfront and full-hookup sites fill first.
