Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Drayton, ON
How much does an RV rental in Drayton cost, and how can I save?
RV rental in Drayton is affordable, with most travel trailers listed around $100 to $160 CAD per night and motorhomes typically running $180 to $280 CAD per night on RVezy. You'll find the best value by booking weekday nights or stretching your trip past five nights, since many hosts offer weekly discounts. Shoulder-season trips in May or September are noticeably cheaper than peak July and August weekends around the Drayton Festival Theatre. For a cheap RV rental Drayton experience, filter by towable trailers and ask about delivery to a nearby campground so you skip the tow-vehicle requirement. Pro tip: midweek bookings around Conestogo Lake fill up last, so flexibility unlocks real savings.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Drayton%2C%20OntarioWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Drayton, Ontario?
Good news: your regular Ontario Class G driver's licence (or equivalent from another province, state, or country) is all you need to rent an RV in Drayton. No special RV endorsement or commercial licence is required for the Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers you'll find on RVezy here. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and ID is confirmed through the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from outside Canada? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home licence to keep things smooth at pickup. Most first-time renters in Wellington County are surprised how straightforward the whole process feels, so you can focus on the trip ahead.

You choose the level of coverage that fits you during checkout, and the plan helps cover most damages to the RV during your trip. Drive with confidence and enjoy the rolling Mapleton farmland.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat's the cancellation policy if my Drayton RV trip plans change?
Plans shift, and RVezy makes it low-risk to book your Drayton RV trip. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and it includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in dates without stress. Refund outcomes depend on how far in advance you cancel and on unusual circumstances like severe weather or natural disasters, which matter in southern Ontario where summer storms can roll through quickly. You can review the full policy details on the RVezy Help Center or in your booking confirmation. Pro tip: book early to secure the best Drayton Festival Theatre weekends, knowing you have flexibility if life changes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Drayton?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Drayton options are easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page and you'll see listings whose hosts welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Many Wellington County hosts are pet owners themselves and even leave bowls, blankets, or tie-out stakes in the RV. Once you arrive, you'll love that Conestogo Lake Conservation Area and Belwood Lake Conservation Area both allow leashed dogs on trails, and the walking paths right in Drayton are great for a quick stretch. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet details and any cleaning fee, so check-in is smooth and tail-wagging.
grandriver.ca/en/outdoor-recreation/conservation-areas.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campground or property near Drayton?
Yes, RV delivery in Drayton is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV directly to your campground, family farm, or rural property, then level it, hook it up to power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. This is a game-changer if you're nervous about towing through Wellington County backroads or backing into a site at Conestogo Lake Conservation Area. Delivery fees depend on distance and RV size, and you can see them right on the listing. Pro tip: book delivery to your campsite so your vacation starts the second you arrive, no setup stress.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Drayton%2C%20OntarioHow far can I drive on my Drayton RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?
You've got plenty of range for a Drayton RV trip. Each RVezy listing shows the host's daily kilometre allowance up front, and many hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, especially for trips longer than a week. From Drayton, you can reach Sauble Beach in about 1 hour 45 minutes, Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula in roughly 3 hours, Algonquin Provincial Park in around 4 hours, and Niagara Falls in just over 2 hours. If you're planning a big loop, filter for unlimited-kilometre listings or message the host to confirm extra kilometres upfront. Pro tip: map your route before booking so you know exactly which listings give you the freedom to roam.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Drayton%2C%20OntarioWhere are the best campgrounds near Drayton to park my RV?
You're spoiled for choice with the best campgrounds near Drayton. Conestogo Lake Conservation Area, just south of town, offers serviced and unserviced sites right on the reservoir with swimming and boating. Belwood Lake Conservation Area near Fergus has shaded, family-friendly sites and great fishing. Pike Lake Golf and Country Club near Clifford has full-hookup sites and an on-site golf course. Elora Gorge Conservation Area is famous for tubing through the limestone cliffs. Pro tip: Grand River Conservation Authority campgrounds book up fast for July long weekends, so reserve as soon as your dates are set.
grandriver.ca/en/outdoor-recreation/Camping.aspxWhen is the best time to visit Drayton for an RV trip?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Drayton is late May through early October, with July and August delivering the warmest weather (daytime highs around 25 to 28 degrees C) and the longest evenings for campfires. June is great for fewer bugs and lush green farmland, while September brings crisp nights, golden Mapleton sunsets, and lower campground prices. Winters here are genuinely cold (often -10 to -20 degrees C with snow), so most Drayton RV rentals run May through October. If you love theatre, plan your trip around the Drayton Festival Theatre summer season. Pro tip: the third week of September often has mild days, quiet campgrounds, and the best fall colours along the Conestogo River.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/index_e.htmlI'm a first-time RV renter, will I really be okay driving around Drayton?
You'll do great, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Drayton sits in a rural pocket of Wellington County with wide, flat roads, light traffic, and big farm laneways for practicing turns. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering the propane, water, slide-outs, and dashboard controls, and you can call or message them throughout your trip if anything feels off. The county roads around Mapleton and Listowel are some of the most forgiving driving conditions in Ontario for a new RVer. Pro tip: ask your host to record a short video of the orientation on your phone, so you have a personal cheat-sheet for setting up at camp.
ontario.ca/document/official-mto-drivers-handbookWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue on the road?
You're never alone out there. Every RV rental in Drayton booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If something goes sideways on Highway 6, County Road 11, or anywhere on your route to Tobermory, one phone call gets help dispatched. RVezy's support team is also available before, during, and after your trip to help coordinate with your host. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone before you leave the driveway, and snap a photo of the RV's plate and VIN so you're ready to roll if you ever need to call in.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Drayton RV rental on a road trip across Ontario or into the US?
Yes, an RV road trip from Drayton can cross provincial or international borders, but it depends on the individual host's policy. Many hosts allow trips across Ontario to Algonquin, Killarney, or Prince Edward County, and some permit US travel to destinations like Michigan's Upper Peninsula or New York's Finger Lakes if you arrange it in advance. Travel into Mexico isn't permitted on any RVezy rental. The simplest step: message the host right from the listing page before booking to confirm your route. Pro tip: have your passport and vehicle ownership documents ready for US border crossings at Sarnia or Niagara, and ask your host for the Canadian registration paperwork.
cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/menu-eng.htmlHow much should I budget for fuel on a Drayton RV trip?
Fuel is the second-biggest cost after the rental itself, so planning ahead pays off. Class B campervans typically get about 11 to 13 L/100km, Class C motorhomes use roughly 17 to 23 L/100km, and a truck towing a travel trailer averages around 15 to 20 L/100km. Ontario gas prices commonly fall between $1.40 and $1.70 per litre, with cheaper fills typically found in Listowel, Arthur, and Mount Forest compared to Highway 401 stations. For a 500 km loop to Tobermory and back, budget roughly $150 to $250 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Drayton or Arthur before heading north, since Bruce Peninsula prices climb noticeably.
ontario.ca/page/gasoline-pricesHow far in advance should I book a campground near Drayton?
For the best campgrounds near Drayton, the earlier the better, especially the Grand River Conservation Authority parks like Conestogo Lake, Belwood Lake, and Elora Gorge. Reservations open several months in advance through the Grand River Conservation Authority website, and July long weekend and August Civic Holiday sites can sell out within hours of opening. Ontario Parks reservations (for trips farther afield to Pinery or MacGregor Point) open five months ahead through the Ontario Parks reservation system. For midweek camping in June or September, you can often book just a few days out. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for the booking-window opening date, log in early, and have your site preferences ready.
reservations.ontarioparks.ca/What are driving conditions like in and around Drayton?
Driving conditions around Drayton are honestly some of the easiest in Ontario for RVers. You'll find flat to gently rolling terrain, wide rural roads (County Road 8 and Wellington Road 11 are the main routes), and very little congestion compared to the GTA. Watch for slow-moving farm equipment in spring and fall, occasional Mennonite horse-drawn buggies (especially around Wallenstein), and white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk. Summer brings short but intense thunderstorms, so check the forecast before long drives. Winter can mean lake-effect snow squalls off Lake Huron, which is one reason most rentals run May to October. Pro tip: keep your RV's headlights on at all times during the day in this region, it's law and helps farmers see you.
511on.ca/What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Drayton?
Campgrounds near Drayton range from basic to fully serviced, so you can pick what suits your style. Grand River Conservation Authority parks like Conestogo Lake and Belwood Lake offer a mix of electrical sites (15/30 amp), flush toilets, hot showers, dump stations, and potable water fill stations. Private parks like Pike Lake Golf and Country Club typically offer full hookups (water, sewer, and 30 or 50 amp electrical), Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools. Most provincial parks within a 90-minute drive have dump stations open to non-campers for a small fee. Pro tip: top up fresh water at the campground entrance station before claiming your site, since some loops don't have a fill point.
grandriver.ca/en/outdoor-recreation/Camping.aspxWhat's actually inside the RVs I can rent in Drayton?
You'll be impressed by what's packed into modern motorhome rental Drayton options. Most Class C motorhomes and travel trailers sleep 4 to 8 people with a queen bed, bunks, and a convertible dinette, plus a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a wet or dry bathroom with shower, propane furnace, roof air conditioning, and often a TV. Many include awnings and generators for off-grid use, and Class C and Class A units have seatbelts for driving passengers. Campervan rental Drayton options (Class B) are cozier but include a bed, kitchenette, and often a portable toilet. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities list for a coffee maker and outdoor chairs, two small things that make camping mornings perfect.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Drayton%2C%20OntarioWhat add-ons and pickup options are available with Drayton RV rentals?
Drayton hosts offer add-ons that make life easier. Common options include bedding and linen packages, camping kits with chairs and a table, kitchen kits with pots and utensils, generators, BBQs, bike racks, and even kayak or paddleboard rentals. Pickup is usually from the host's home (often a property in Mapleton or Wellington North), but many hosts offer delivery within 50 to 100 km, which is perfect for getting the RV right to Conestogo Lake or Sauble Beach. Mileage policies and pickup windows are shown directly on each listing. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a setup package and your family RV trip Drayton starts with zero stress.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Drayton%2C%20OntarioHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and built right into RVezy, so there's no awkward cash exchange with your host. You pay securely through the platform with a credit card when you book. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, separate from the booking payment, and it's released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid surprises, do the pre-trip walkthrough carefully and take date-stamped photos of the interior and exterior at pickup and dropoff. Pro tip: use a credit card with a high limit so the deposit hold doesn't crowd your trip spending.
