We had such an incredible experience renting this trailer! It was spotless, spacious, and incredibly comfortable — absolutely perfect for me and my 2- and 5-year-old. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into making it feel welcoming and stress-free for families. The trailer was stocked with so many thoughtful essentials that made our trip even easier, from shampoo and hair products to bug spray and other little extras you don’t usually expect. It truly felt like everything had been considered. Beth was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She was attentive, quick to respond, and went completely above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. She even came directly to our campsite to show me how to use the thermostat, which was so appreciated. Her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail made the whole experience seamless and enjoyable. I would 100% rent from Beth again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a clean, well-equipped trailer and exceptional customer service!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Havelock, ON

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Havelock, Ontario?

An RV rental in Havelock is one of the more affordable ways to explore the Kawarthas and Trent Hills region. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $100 to $175 CAD per night, campervans and Class B rentals run $150 to $250, and larger Class C motorhomes range from $200 to $325 nightly. Prices peak in July, August and Labour Day weekend, so booking midweek in June or September can save you 20 to 30 percent. For a cheap RV rental in Havelock, filter by travel trailers and look for hosts offering local delivery, which removes the need for a tow vehicle. Shoulder-season fall colour trips through the Kawarthas are gorgeous and noticeably cheaper.

What licence do I need to rent an RV in Havelock, Ontario?

Good news for first-time renters: a standard Ontario Class G driver's licence is all you need to drive virtually every RV listed in Havelock, including Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers and most fifth wheels. No special RV endorsement or commercial licence is required as long as the vehicle and any towed trailer stay within standard weight limits (note that very large Class A motorhomes over 11,000 kg may require a Class D licence in Ontario). RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and ID verification is handled quickly through the platform at checkout. Visiting from outside Canada? Bring your home licence plus an International Driving Permit if your licence is not in English or French.

Is insurance and roadside assistance included with my Havelock RV rental?

Yes, every booking on RVezy includes insurance coverage plus 24/7 roadside assistance through an RVezy renter protection plan, so you can hit Highway 7 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers damage to the RV during your trip, which is reassuring if a branch scrapes the awning at Silent Lake or a stone chips the windshield on a backroad near Belmont Lake. At checkout you choose the protection level that suits your trip, with higher tiers offering lower deductibles. Roadside assistance covers flat tires, battery boosts, lockouts and towing. You are not on your own out there, even on a quiet rural road north of Havelock.

What happens if I need to cancel my Havelock RV booking?

Plans change, and RVezy is built for that. The cancellation policy is set by RVezy (not individual hosts) and includes a money-back grace period right after you book, so you can lock in a great Havelock RV with confidence. After that window, the refund amount depends on how far out your trip start date is. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds the guest or provides travel credits so your trip can still happen. Full policy details are available in the RVezy Help Center and your booking confirmation. The takeaway: reserving early to snag the best motorhome rental in Havelock is genuinely low-risk.

Can I bring my dog on a Havelock RV trip?

Absolutely, and the Kawarthas are made for dogs. Many Havelock hosts offer pet-friendly RV rentals, so just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see motorhomes and travel trailers that welcome your pup. Nearby, Silent Lake Provincial Park and Warsaw Caves Conservation Area both allow leashed dogs on trails and at designated pet beaches, and the Trans Canada Trail along the old rail bed through Havelock is an easy daily walk. Bring a long lead, a collapsible water bowl, and proof of rabies vaccination. Message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees, which typically range from $25 to $75 per trip.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or cottage near Havelock?

Yes, RV delivery in Havelock is one of the most popular options on the platform, especially for first-timers who would rather not drive a big rig. Many local hosts will deliver, level and fully set up your RV at popular spots around the Trent River, Belmont Lake or Round Lake, or at a family cottage in the area. They will walk you through the propane, slide-outs, water system and (if equipped) generator before handing over the keys. Use the Delivery filter when you search, then message the host with your exact campground or cottage address to confirm the fee, which usually scales with distance from Havelock village.

How many kilometres do I get with a Havelock RV rental?

You have plenty of room to roam. Most Havelock hosts include between 100 and 200 free kilometres per night, and a good number of listings offer RV rentals with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a longer Ontario road trip. Extra kilometres typically cost $0.30 to $0.50 each if you exceed the included allowance. To put it in perspective: Peterborough is about 45 km west, Toronto is roughly 170 km southwest, Algonquin Park's southern access is around 200 km north, and Ottawa sits about 280 km east. Tally your planned route before booking, then filter for unlimited-mileage listings if you are chasing fall colours across eastern Ontario.

Where are the best campgrounds near Havelock for an RV trip?

You are spoiled for choice. Within about 30 minutes of Havelock you will find private parks along the Trent River with full hookups, as well as Warsaw Caves Conservation Area, which is fantastic for hiking and exploring limestone caves and offers electrical and non-electrical RV sites. About an hour north, Silent Lake Provincial Park has some of Ontario's prettiest backcountry-feeling sites, many with electrical hookups. To the south, Ferris Provincial Park near Campbellford is another great Ontario Parks option with the Ranney Gorge suspension bridge nearby. For RV camping in Havelock during peak summer, book Ontario Parks sites the moment the five-month reservation window opens.

When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Havelock?

Late May through early October is prime time for renting an RV in Havelock. July and August deliver classic Kawartha summer with average daytime highs around 25 to 27 degrees Celsius and warm lake swimming, while June offers fewer bugs after the first weeks and great fishing on Belmont Lake. September is the local secret: warm days, cool sleeping weather, and the Canadian Shield turning brilliant red and orange by late September into mid-October. Winter rentals (December to March) are limited because most hosts winterize their RVs, but a few four-season units do operate. For a sweet-spot Havelock RV trip with mild weather and lower rates, target the second half of September.

I have never driven an RV before. Is renting in Havelock a good idea?

Yes, Havelock is a fantastic place for a first time renting an RV. The roads around town are quiet two-lane country highways like Highway 7 and County Road 30, with light traffic, generous shoulders and easy pull-offs, a world away from city driving. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving tips, propane, water, slide-outs and the dump process, and you can message them anytime during your trip. Start with a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer if you are nervous about size. Try a slow practice loop in a large empty lot before heading out to your campground to build confidence.

What if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering tire changes, battery boosts, lockouts, fuel delivery and towing, including the rural stretches between Havelock, Marmora and Apsley. If something mechanical pops up, your host is your first call and they know their RV inside out. RVezy customer support is also available before, during and after your trip if you need extra help. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave, and snap photos of the RV at pickup so any small issue is easy to document.

What road trips can I take from Havelock in an RV?

Havelock is a brilliant launchpad for an RV road trip in almost any direction. Head about 45 minutes west to Peterborough and the Trent-Severn Waterway lift locks, drive 1.5 hours north into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park, or aim about 2 hours south to Prince Edward County's wineries and Sandbanks Provincial Park beaches. Algonquin Provincial Park's southern access is roughly 2.5 to 3 hours north, and Ottawa is about 3 hours east via Highway 7. Cross-border trips into the United States are possible with some hosts (Mexico is not permitted), so confirm directly with your host before booking if you are planning a U.S. leg. Build your route around lake stops; the Kawarthas are stitched together by them.

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for in a Havelock motorhome rental?

Budgeting fuel is easier than you might think. A Class B campervan rental in Havelock usually averages 11 to 14 L/100km, a Class C motorhome around 18 to 25 L/100km, and a large Class A about 25 to 32 L/100km. Travel trailers add roughly 30 to 40 percent to your tow vehicle's normal consumption. Gas in the Peterborough-Havelock area typically tracks a few cents below Toronto prices, and you will find stations right in Havelock village, in Norwood, and in Campbellford. Fill up before heading north toward Apsley or Bancroft, where stations are spaced further apart and prices tend to climb.
natural-resources.canada.ca/energy-sources/fossil-fuels/petroleum-products/fuel-prices

How far in advance should I book a campground near Havelock?

Book early and you will camp where you want. Ontario Parks opens reservations exactly five months ahead of your arrival date through the Ontario Parks reservation system, and prime summer weekends at Silent Lake, Warsaw Caves and Ferris Provincial Park can sell out within minutes of the booking window opening at 7 a.m. Private parks in the Trent Hills and Kawartha area typically open bookings in January or February for the upcoming season. For a July or August Havelock RV trip, lock in your campground first, then book your RV. Midweek arrivals (Sunday to Wednesday) are far easier to snag and often $10 to $20 cheaper per night.

What are driving conditions like around Havelock?

Driving an RV around Havelock is refreshingly relaxed. Highway 7 is the main east-west route and it is a well-maintained two-lane highway with regular passing zones. County roads in the area are paved, low-traffic, and comfortable for larger rigs, though watch for occasional frost heaves in spring and the odd deer or wild turkey at dawn and dusk. Cell service is solid in town and along Highway 7 but can drop in the lakes country to the north. Winter trips require winter or all-weather rated tires on most Ontario rentals once snow flies. Local tip: avoid Highway 7 westbound late Sunday afternoons in summer when cottage traffic backs up toward Peterborough.

What amenities do campgrounds near Havelock offer for RVs?

Local campgrounds are well set up for RVs. Private resorts along the Trent River commonly offer full hookups (water, sewer and 30 or 50 amp electric), pools, laundry and Wi-Fi. Other private parks in the area offer electric and water hookups plus a central dump station. Ontario Parks like Silent Lake, Warsaw Caves and Ferris offer electrical sites, shared dump stations and potable water fill taps near the gatehouse. If you are boondocking on private land, Trent Hills operates public services in Campbellford, about 20 minutes south. Arrive with a full freshwater tank from your host so your first night's setup is stress-free.

What is included inside a typical Havelock RV rental?

Most Havelock RV rentals come ready to camp. Expect a queen bed plus convertible dinette and sofa beds, a full kitchen with fridge, propane stove, microwave and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with furnace and air conditioning, and seatbelts for travelling passengers (always match seatbelts to your group size). Class C motorhomes and larger units often include a TV, awning, outdoor speakers and a generator for off-grid power. Wi-Fi varies, so plan to use your phone's hotspot in remote areas like the lakes north of Havelock. When you message a host, ask whether kitchen kit, bedding and towels are included or available as add-ons.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Havelock%2C%20Ontario

What add-ons and pickup options can I expect when I rent an RV in Havelock?

Hosts in Havelock offer a great range of add-ons to customize your trip. Popular extras include linen and bedding packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits, camp chairs and tables, BBQs, bike racks, kayaks or paddleboards (a real treat on Belmont Lake or the Trent River), generators, and Wi-Fi hotspots on some listings. Pickup is usually at the host's home base near Havelock, Norwood or Campbellford, with delivery available for an extra fee. One-way rentals are not standard, but some hosts will consider them; message them directly from the listing page. Confirm mileage policy, generator hours and any cleaning or dump fees in writing before you book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Havelock%2C%20Ontario

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is straightforward and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card at the time of booking, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip once the host confirms the RV is returned in good shape with no extra mileage, generator hours or cleaning required. To avoid issues, do a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, return the RV with the fuel and propane levels noted by your host, and keep all communication on the platform so everything is documented.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Is there a family-friendly RV trip itinerary I can plan from Havelock?

Havelock is made for a family RV trip. A classic 4-night loop: start with a night at a Trent River resort campground (pool and beach for the kids), then head about 25 minutes to Warsaw Caves Conservation Area for two nights of cave exploring, swimming and short hikes, and finish at Silent Lake Provincial Park about an hour north for canoeing on a motor-free lake. Add a day trip to the Ranney Gorge suspension bridge in Campbellford and the Empire Cheese factory store for snacks. Pet-friendly RV rental options in Havelock make it easy to bring the family dog too. Book the RV first, then the parks the day the five-month window opens.
