2019 Starcraft Travel Trailer
This RV was extremely clean and very well stocked with the right amount of kitchen items (plates, cups, cutlery, small appliances etc..). Also, the host supplied dish towels, pillows, soaps, sponges, cleaning supplies, and a bonus welcoming gift of treats! This gesture was really appreciated. The size of the RV is generous for a family of 4. The hostess Crystal and her partner were very helpful and easy to communicate with. We would definitely recommend renting this trailer to anyone, especially those camping at the wonderful Bon Echo!

Such a wonderful experience with Ralph and Nancy’s easy family getaway! We used the drop off option and that was exceptional. Ralph set it all up and we had a detailed walk through and we were good to go! Lovely trailer and suited our needs perfectly! Both Ralph and Nancy are fantastic to work with. Awesome experience -- first timer, didn't know what to expect. Melinda and Luke answered all of my questions and took the time to walk me through the equipment. The RV looked brand new and was so easy and convenient. With the RV, they also supplied a 3 headed hitch ball, chains, wood blocks, drill for the jack supports, extension cord, hoses etc.

An Absolute Joy for Our Family Weekend! Our family just had the most wonderful weekend renting this Family Maxum Wild Travel Trailer from Alycia! The experience from start to finish was completely stress-free. The trailer itself was perfect for our needs. We were a group of two adults and two kids, and there was plenty of space and comfort for everyone. Everything was spotlessly clean, in great condition, and stocked with the essentials. Alycia, the host, was incredible. Her communications were prompt and friendly, and she made the pickup and drop-off process super flexible, which we really appreciated with kids in tow. It felt like renting from a good friend! The entire booking process on the app was straightforward and easy to manage. If you're looking for a reliable, comfortable, and well-maintained trailer for a great family adventure, look no further. We will absolutely be booking with Alycia again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Madoc, ON

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Madoc, Ontario?

An RV rental in Madoc is one of the most affordable ways to explore Eastern Ontario's Heart of Gold. On RVezy you'll typically find travel trailers from about $90 to $160 CAD per night, Class C motorhomes from $180 to $275 CAD per night, and campervans landing somewhere in between. Because Madoc sits at the quiet junction of Highway 7 and Highway 62 rather than a major metro, owner pricing tends to be friendlier than what you'd see leaving Toronto or Ottawa. Pro tip: book a Sunday-to-Thursday trip in June or September for a cheap RV rental in Madoc, and use the price-range filter plus Instant Book to lock in the best deals fast.

What kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Madoc?

Great news for first-time renters: a regular full Class G Ontario driver's license is all you need for the vast majority of RVs you'll find on RVezy in Madoc. As of Ontario's July 2025 rules, a full Class G covers any motorhome up to 11,000 kilograms (24,250 lbs), which includes nearly every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on the platform. Visiting from another province, a US state, or overseas? Your home license is honoured under Ontario's reciprocity agreements, and international guests should grab an International Driving Permit before flying in. All RVezy guests simply need to be 25 or older with a valid license and pass a quick in-app ID check.

Is there protection or roadside assistance included with my Madoc RV rental?

Yes, and this is one of the best reasons to book through RVezy. Every RV rental in Madoc booking comes with a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance built right in, so you're covered for things like a flat tire on Highway 7, a dead battery at O'Hara Mill, or a tow if you need one. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV and provides real financial peace of mind. You choose your level of coverage at checkout, not the host, so you can pick the package that matches your comfort level. Drive off knowing help is one phone call away.

What if I need to cancel my Madoc RV trip?

Booking is genuinely low-risk. RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy across the platform, so you can book your Madoc RV trip with confidence knowing there's a clear, consistent process. There's a grace-period window after booking where you can get a full refund, and additional refund tiers apply depending on how far out from your trip you cancel. The full breakdown is in your booking page and the RVezy Help Center, and customer support is available 7 days a week to walk you through your options.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Madoc?

Absolutely, your dog is going to love it. Madoc and Hastings County are made for four-legged travellers, with walks along the Hastings Heritage Trail (a former rail line that runs right through town) and shaded paths at O'Hara Mill Homestead & Conservation Area. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Madoc, toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and message the host to share your dog's size and breed. Nearby Ontario Parks like Silent Lake have dedicated pet-friendly campground loops with leashed-pet rules. Pack a long lead, a water bowl, and a tick-check routine, and you're set for a great family RV trip in Madoc.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground near Madoc?

Yes, RV delivery in Madoc is one of the most popular options on the platform, especially for first-timers. Many local hosts will drive the RV straight to your campsite or a private cottage property near Moira Lake, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through everything from the propane stove to the awning. To find delivery-ready listings, use the Delivery filter on RVezy. Delivery fees are usually a flat rate plus a per-kilometre charge from the host's home base. Pro tip: ask for setup-and-teardown service too, then you literally just show up with groceries.

How far can I drive from Madoc on a typical RV road trip?

Madoc is one of the best launching pads in Ontario because it sits at the junction of Highway 7 and Highway 62, roughly halfway between Toronto and Ottawa. From here you can reach Bon Echo Provincial Park (about 1 hour, 80 km north), Sandbanks Provincial Park in Prince Edward County (about 1 hour 15 minutes, 100 km south), Ottawa (about 2 hours 30 minutes, 235 km east), or downtown Toronto (about 2 hours 30 minutes, 220 km west). Algonquin Park's east gate is about 2 hours 15 minutes (185 km) away. Most hosts include a daily mileage allowance, and several offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for an RV road trip from Madoc through cottage country.

Where are the best campgrounds near Madoc for an RV trip?

You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Madoc for RV camping include Loon Lake Resort (3 km from downtown, motor-free lake, serviced and unserviced sites), Crowe Valley Conservation Area in nearby Marmora (riverside sites along the Crowe River with electrical hookups), Sandbanks Provincial Park (world-class beaches on Lake Ontario, about an hour south), Silent Lake Provincial Park (electrical sites in classic Canadian Shield country, about an hour north), and Bon Echo Provincial Park (towering Mazinaw Rock cliffs). Book Ontario Parks campsites through the Ontario Parks reservation system up to five months in advance. Pro tip: weekday arrivals open up sites that look 'fully booked' on summer weekends.

When is the best time of year to plan a Madoc RV trip?

Late May through early October is prime time for RV camping Madoc style, with the sweet spot being mid-June to early September. Summer highs sit in the comfortable mid-20s Celsius (around 75 to 82 Fahrenheit), evenings cool to the mid-teens (perfect for campfires), and the lakes warm enough to swim by late June. September brings golden maple foliage across Hastings County and far fewer mosquitoes, which is why locals call it the smartest month to visit. Winters get cold (often below -15 C / 5 F with heavy snow), so if you're booking December through March, filter for four-season RVs with heated tanks. Pro tip: time your trip with the Madoc Fair in mid-September for full small-town charm.

Are RV rentals available in Madoc during the winter?

Yes, a winter RV rental in Madoc is absolutely doable and surprisingly magical, you just want the right rig. Look for listings tagged as four-season or winterized with heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, and a furnace, and book a campground that keeps electrical (shore power) sites open year-round. Many local hosts will deliver and plug the RV in at a private property so you can use it as a heated basecamp for ice fishing on Moira Lake or snowmobiling sections of the Hastings Heritage Trail. Message the host before booking to confirm winter readiness, and pack a heated water hose if you'll be hooking up in freezing temperatures.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay around Madoc?

You'll be just fine, and Madoc is one of the best places in Ontario to learn. The roads around town (Highway 7, Highway 62, and the country roads out to O'Hara Mill or Eldorado) are wide, lightly trafficked, and free of the big-city stress you'd hit near Toronto or Ottawa. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering propane, slide-outs, dumping, and driving tips, and you can message them any time during your trip. If you're nervous, book delivery, the RV arrives at your campsite already set up. First time renting an RV? You'll be flipping pancakes lakeside by hour two.

What happens if my RV breaks down during my Madoc trip?

You're covered, day or night. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so whether you've got a flat on Highway 62 north of Madoc, a dead battery at a campsite, or a mechanical issue heading toward Bancroft, one phone call gets help dispatched. RVezy support is reachable 7 days a week to coordinate repairs, replacements, or anything else. The nearest larger service centres are in Belleville (about 40 km south) and Peterborough (about 110 km west), both with RV-friendly mechanics. Pro tip: do a quick video walkthrough with your host at pickup so you know how to spot small issues before they become big ones.

Can I take my Madoc RV rental across the US border?

Often yes, but you need to clear it with your host first. Many RVezy hosts allow cross-border travel from Ontario into New York State, which is a popular RV road trip from Madoc since the Thousand Islands Bridge crossing is roughly 1 hour 45 minutes away via Highway 401. Message the host directly from the listing page to confirm cross-border approval and to get a travel authorization letter, which Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) may ask to see. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Bring your passport, vehicle documents, and any pet's rabies certificate.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validity

What kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for around Madoc?

Easy to budget for. Most Class C motorhomes you'll rent in Madoc get around 18 to 22 litres per 100 km (roughly 11 to 13 MPG), campervans do better at 11 to 14 L/100 km (17 to 21 MPG), and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Gas prices in Madoc tend to track slightly below Toronto and Ottawa, with pumps along Highway 7 in town plus stations in Marmora and Tweed nearby. For a 4-night trip looping to Bon Echo and back (about 250 km of driving), budget roughly $90 to $140 CAD for fuel in a Class C. Diesel campers are even cheaper to run.

How far in advance should I reserve a campground near Madoc?

For peak summer weekends (late June through Labour Day), book 4 to 5 months ahead, that's the maximum window the Ontario Parks reservation system opens. Sandbanks, Bon Echo, and Silent Lake Provincial Parks fill the moment their booking window opens at 7 a.m. Eastern Time, so set a calendar reminder. Private campgrounds like Loon Lake Resort and Crowe Valley accept reservations directly through their websites, usually 2 to 3 months ahead is plenty. Shoulder seasons (May, June weekdays, September) are far more relaxed and you can often book a week out. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday to Wednesday) open up premium waterfront sites that look impossible to grab on weekends.
reservations.ontarioparks.ca/

What are the driving conditions like in and around Madoc?

Driving a motorhome rental in Madoc is genuinely relaxed compared to most Ontario destinations. Highway 7 (the main east-west route through town) and Highway 62 (running north to Bancroft and south to Belleville) are well-paved two-lane highways with good shoulders and gentle curves, no mountain passes or steep grades. Watch for white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk on rural roads, occasional logging trucks heading north, and winter conditions from late November through March. Highway 401 to the south near Belleville moves fast but stays flat. Pro tip: keep your tank above half on northern routes, gas stations thin out past Bancroft.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Madoc?

Eastern Ontario campgrounds near Madoc are well-equipped for RVs. Expect a mix of 15-amp, 30-amp, and some 50-amp electrical (shore power) sites, water spigots at most serviced sites, and a central dump station for grey and black tanks (Loon Lake Resort, Crowe Valley, and Sandbanks all have one). Most Ontario Parks have flush toilets and hot showers in comfort stations, plus potable water fill-up taps. Cell service is solid in town and patchy at deeper bush sites, so download offline maps before heading to Silent Lake or Bon Echo. Pro tip: many sites at Crowe Valley and Loon Lake are pull-through, which is a lifesaver for first-time renters who'd rather not back in.

What's actually inside the RVs I can rent in Madoc?

You'll feel right at home. A typical RV rental in Madoc, Ontario comes fully equipped with sleeping for 2 to 8 (queen beds, bunks, and convertible dinettes), a kitchen with a propane stove, fridge/freezer, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, a furnace, and air conditioning. Most rigs include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, awning, and outdoor camp chairs. Many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, onboard generators (great for off-grid camping near Madoc), and starter kits with linens and kitchenware. Each listing has a full amenity checklist, and you can message the host to confirm anything specific like a coffee maker or an Instant Pot.

What add-ons and extras can I get with my Madoc RV rental?

Plenty, and they can make your trip way smoother. Popular add-ons from Madoc-area hosts include linen and bedding packages, kitchen kits, camp chairs and outdoor tables, portable BBQs, bike racks, kayak and canoe carriers, generators, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Many hosts also offer paddleboards or fishing gear (great for Moira Lake right next to town). Mileage policies vary by listing, some offer unlimited kilometres while others include a daily allowance with a small per-km fee after. Pickup and dropoff are typically at the host's home, and delivery to your campsite is offered by many hosts for a flat fee plus per-km charge. Everything is spelled out clearly on each listing.

How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Simple and transparent. You pay for your Madoc RV trip securely through the RVezy platform with a credit card, no cash exchanged with the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV) and released back to your card after dropoff, assuming everything is returned in good shape. To avoid issues: do the walkthrough video with your host at pickup and dropoff, return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels, empty the tanks at a dump station (or pay the host's dump fee), and report any small bumps right away. Everything is documented in-app, so there are no surprises.
