It was a really great experience and Brandon and his family setup the RV with some amazing welcome gifts. The RV performance was great with just a few hiccups and a broken door handle. Brandon was extremely responsive and answered a few calls with small technical questions.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Shelley, ID
How much does an RV rental in Shelley cost, and how can I save?
RV rental in Shelley is one of the most affordable ways to explore eastern Idaho. Travel trailers typically run about $90 to $160 per night, Class C motorhomes about $175 to $275, and Class B campervans about $150 to $225, depending on age and amenities. To find a cheap RV rental in Shelley, book midweek, travel in May or September just outside Yellowstone's peak, and look for hosts offering weekly discounts or generous mileage. Many Shelley owners also offer delivery to local campgrounds like North Bingham Park. Pro tip: book before Shelley Spud Day in early September, when local inventory tightens quickly.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shelley%2C%20IdahoWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Shelley, Idaho?
Great news for first time renters: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Shelley, Idaho. No special endorsement or commercial driver's license is required for motorhomes, campervans, or travel trailers on RVezy, even larger Class A coaches. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the booking platform, so there's nothing to print or mail. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit. Most guests are surprised how quickly they're cleared to drive away from their Shelley pickup.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my Shelley RV rental protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in Shelley on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance built into your booking. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV, giving you real peace of mind whether you're parked at Heise Hot Springs or driving US-26 toward the Tetons. During checkout you'll choose from several coverage tiers so you can match protection to your trip. It's not traditional auto insurance, but it's designed specifically for peer-to-peer RV travel. Pro tip: choose a higher tier for Yellowstone trips where wildlife on the road is common at dawn and dusk.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Shelley RV trip?
Booking your RV rental in Shelley is low risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and every reservation includes a short money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in plans confidently. After that, your refund depends on how far out you cancel, and RVezy reviews exceptional circumstances like natural disasters or severe winter storms. You'll see your exact terms during checkout before you pay. Pro tip: eastern Idaho weather can shift quickly in spring and fall, so book early to secure your dates and trust the policy to back you up if plans change.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Shelley?
Yes, four-legged co-pilots are welcome on plenty of trips. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Shelley, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings whose owners genuinely welcome dogs (some even leave bowls and beds). Shelley itself is dog-happy: North Bingham County Park has shaded grassy areas perfect for leashed pups, and the Snake River greenbelt running up to Idaho Falls offers miles of off-leash-friendly walking once you're outside city limits. Many local hosts ask for a small pet cleaning fee, which you'll see clearly before booking. Pro tip: pack a tick check kit; sagebrush country east of Shelley is prime tick territory in June.
parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/things-to-do/pets/Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Shelley?
Yes, RV delivery in Shelley is one of the most popular options on the platform, especially for first time renters. Many Shelley and Idaho Falls hosts will drive the RV directly to North Bingham County Park, Snake River RV Park, or your private property, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. That means no towing stress and no figuring out the awning on your own. Filter listings by Delivery to see who offers it and how far they'll travel. Pro tip: ask about delivery to Heise Hot Springs Campground; it's only 30 minutes from Shelley and a local favorite.
binghamid.gov/departments/parksandrecreation/NorthBinghamParkHow far can I drive from Shelley on a typical RV trip?
Quite far, and the drives are gorgeous. From Shelley, you're perfectly positioned for an eastern Idaho RV trip: Yellowstone's West Entrance is about 110 miles (roughly 2 hours via US-20), Grand Teton National Park is around 90 miles via Swan Valley and the Teton Pass alternate routes, Jackson, Wyoming sits about 95 miles east, Craters of the Moon National Monument is 95 miles west on US-20, and Bear Lake is about 150 miles south. Most Shelley hosts offer generous daily mileage allowances, and some list RV rental with unlimited mileage. Pro tip: ask about a multi-day mileage bundle if you're hitting both Yellowstone and the Tetons in one loop.
nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Shelley for RV camping?
You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Shelley for RV camping include North Bingham County Park, a county-run gem right in town with 12 paved full-hookup pull-throughs up to 65 feet and clean showers; Snake River RV Park & Campground in Idaho Falls, just 8 miles north along the Snake River Greenbelt; Yellowstone Lakeside RV Park near Rigby (about 20 minutes north, on a 34-acre lake); and Heise Hot Springs Campground 30 minutes northeast with natural hot pools. For something quieter, try Wakeside Lake RV Park near Rexburg. Pro tip: North Bingham books out fast during Spud Day in September, so reserve as soon as your RV is confirmed.
binghamid.gov/departments/parksandrecreation/NorthBinghamParkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Shelley?
Late June through mid-September is the sweet spot for any Shelley RV trip. Summer days run 80 to 92 degrees Fahrenheit with cool 45 to 55 degree nights at Shelley's 4,600-foot elevation, perfect for sleeping with the windows cracked. May and October are shoulder-season steals: fewer crowds at Yellowstone, lower nightly rates, and brilliant cottonwood color along the Snake River in fall. Winter (December to February) drops to single digits with regular snow, but a handful of four-season hosts rent winterized rigs for snowmobiling trips to Island Park. Pro tip: book early September if you want warm afternoons, harvest scenery, and the famous Shelley Spud Day festival.
weather.gov/pih/I've never driven an RV. Will I be okay picking one up in Shelley?
You'll do great, and Shelley is honestly one of the easiest places in the country to start. The roads are wide, traffic is light, and you can practice on quiet country highways before tackling anything bigger. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup: how to level, dump tanks, run the fridge, deploy the awning, and connect at a campground. You can also message hosts before booking with any first time renting an RV question. Many Shelley owners specifically welcome beginners and will recommend a Class C or travel trailer that's manageable. Pro tip: do a short shakedown loop to North Bingham Park on night one before pointing toward Yellowstone.
itd.idaho.gov/itddmv/What if something breaks down during my trip?
You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking in Shelley includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on US-26, a dead battery at Heise, or a generator hiccup near West Yellowstone is just a phone call away. Roadside can dispatch tow trucks, mobile mechanics, lockout service, and fuel delivery throughout eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. Your host is also typically a text away and knows their rig inside and out, and RVezy support is available before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: snap a photo of the VIN and license plate at pickup so you can share exact info quickly if you ever need help.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Shelley RV rental into Wyoming, Montana, or Canada?
Yes to most great Western road trips. An RV road trip from Shelley into Wyoming (Jackson, the Tetons, Yellowstone) or Montana (West Yellowstone, Bozeman) is standard, and your renter protection plan travels with you across state lines. Cross-border trips to Canada may be allowed with host approval; message the host from the listing page before booking so insurance details can be confirmed. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage does not extend there. Popular multi-state loops from Shelley include the Greater Yellowstone Loop and the Sawtooth-Sun Valley run west on US-20. Pro tip: share your full route with your host so they can prep accordingly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on an eastern Idaho RV trip?
Fuel is one of the friendlier line items here. Idaho gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, and Shelley has multiple stations along ID-91 and I-15 Exit 113 with easy RV access. Realistic mileage estimates: travel trailers towed by a half-ton truck get 10-13 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8-12 MPG, Class B campervans get 16-20 MPG, and Class A coaches average 7-10 MPG. A typical 600-mile Yellowstone loop in a Class C runs roughly $200-$260 in fuel. Pro tip: top off in Shelley or Idaho Falls before heading into West Yellowstone; prices climb noticeably at the park gateway towns.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Shelley?
Earlier is better, but you have options. For summer trips (June through August), book Yellowstone-area campgrounds 6 to 12 months ahead through Recreation.gov, and reserve Heise Hot Springs and Yellowstone Lakeside RV Park 3 to 4 months out. North Bingham County Park in Shelley itself takes reservations by phone through Bingham County Parks and Recreation and often has openings even a few weeks out, except during Spud Day weekend. State parks like Henrys Lake and Harriman use Idaho State Parks reservations and open 9 months in advance. Pro tip: if you strike out, check Recreation.gov daily; cancellations free up popular Yellowstone sites constantly within two weeks of arrival.
recreation.gov/What are driving conditions like around Shelley?
Mostly easy, with a few seasonal things to know. Shelley sits on flat farmland along I-15, so getting in and out is straightforward, even in a 30-foot motorhome. Heading toward Yellowstone on US-20 you'll climb gradually past Rexburg and Island Park; toward the Tetons via US-26 you'll cross Pine Creek Pass (6,720 feet) which is scenic but steep, take it slow. Winter brings snow, ice, and occasional ground blizzards on I-15 between November and March, so check Idaho 511 before driving. Summer afternoon thunderstorms can produce sudden crosswinds. Pro tip: avoid driving US-20 west toward Idaho Falls between 4:30 and 6 PM on weekdays when commuter traffic peaks.
itd.idaho.gov/511/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Shelley?
Plenty, and they're well kept. Most full-service parks near Shelley offer 30 and 50 amp electric, potable water, sewer hookups or a dump station, hot showers, flush toilets, and Wi-Fi (signal varies). North Bingham County Park has full hookups, paved pads, and clean shared showers. Yellowstone Lakeside has lake access and a swimming beach. Heise Hot Springs adds natural mineral pools and a golf course. For dumping or refilling water mid-trip, the Flying J in Idaho Falls (Exit 119) and Snake River RV Park both offer dump stations to non-guests for a small fee. Pro tip: pack a 25-foot drinking-water hose; some Shelley-area sites place spigots farther from the pad than expected.
binghamid.gov/departments/parksandrecreation/NorthBinghamParkWhat's actually inside a typical Shelley RV rental?
More than you'd expect, even on budget rigs. Most Shelley listings come fully equipped: a queen or king bed, a convertible dinette or bunk beds for kids, a kitchen with a propane stove, microwave, fridge and freezer, a wet or full bathroom with shower and toilet, roof AC, propane furnace, and a hot water heater. Class C motorhomes typically sleep 5 to 7 with seatbelts for all driving passengers. Many hosts include a generator for boondocking, plus add-ons like Wi-Fi hotspots and outdoor gear. A campervan rental in Shelley is more minimalist but still includes a bed, kitchenette, and heater. Pro tip: ask your host whether linens, towels, and a starter kitchen kit are included.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shelley%2C%20IdahoWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
You can customize your motorhome rental in Shelley with extras that make camping easier. Popular add-ons include camp chairs and tables, bedding and towel packages, generators, bike racks, kayaks or paddleboards, fire pits, and pet kits, with prices set by each host. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Shelley or nearby Idaho Falls in the afternoon, with return by late morning. Mileage policies vary: many hosts offer 100-150 free miles per day with reasonable overage rates, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage packages. Pro tip: bundle bedding, camp chairs, and a generator in one booking message; many hosts will discount the package.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shelley%2C%20IdahoHow does payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Shelley?
It's all handled cleanly through RVezy, with no cash or checks. You pay your rental total and taxes by credit or debit card when you book, and a refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup. The hold is released after a clean return per RVezy's deposit process. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkthrough video with your host at pickup and return, refill fuel and propane to the agreed level, dump tanks if required, and keep mileage within your plan. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos of the odometer, fuel gauge, and exterior at both pickup and dropoff.
