Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but Iowa is forgiving on the wallet. Gas prices around Burlington typically run close to or below the national average, and you'll find plenty of stations along US-34 and US-61. Realistic fuel economy is 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for Class A motorhomes, 10 to 14 MPG for Class C, 18 to 22 MPG for Class B campervans, and your tow vehicle's MPG minus about 30 percent for travel trailers. For shoulder-season trips in May, September, or October, you can usually find sites 1 to 2 weeks ahead. Holiday weekends like Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day require booking the day reservations open. Pair your RVezy booking with a Friday-Sunday Big Hollow site and a Sunday-Tuesday Geode State Park site to dodge the weekend crowds and see two distinct landscapes.

Burlington is easy RV territory. The terrain is gently rolling rather than mountainous, highways like US-34 and US-61 are wide and well-maintained, and downtown Burlington has a few steep older streets (Snake Alley is famously crooked, so avoid it in an RV). Watch for occasional strong crosswinds on open stretches west of town and along the Great River Bridge into Illinois, especially in spring. Summer thunderstorms can pop up quickly, so check the National Weather Service forecast before driving. Winters bring snow and ice from December through February, which is why most campgrounds close. Stick to designated truck routes through downtown Burlington to avoid low railroad underpasses near the riverfront.

Burlington-area campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable trip. At Big Hollow Recreation Area you'll find 30 and 50-amp electric, water, sewer hookups at premium sites, a dump station, hot showers, and flush toilets. Geode State Park offers electric sites, modern restrooms, showers, a dump station, and potable water fills. 4th Pumping Plant Recreation Area has electric sites and basic facilities right on the Mississippi. For dumping and freshwater between stops, the Burlington area has public dump stations at several county parks. Bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a basic surge protector: they're the two accessories that make any RV camping Burlington stay smoother.

More than you'd expect. Most RVs on RVezy in Burlington come fully equipped: real beds (queen or king in many models), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, an indoor bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with air conditioning and furnace, and seatbelts for travel passengers. Many listings also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, camp chairs, and a generator for boondocking. Campervan rental Burlington options (Class B) are more compact but still include sleeping, cooking, and often a wet bath. Wi-Fi varies by host. Common extras include bedding and linen packs, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, generators, propane refills, bike racks, and kayak or paddleboard add-ons that pair perfectly with Big Hollow Lake or the Mississippi. Pickup is usually at the host's address, but many will deliver and set up at a Burlington-area campground for a flat fee. Mileage policies vary: some listings include 100-150 free miles per day, others advertise unlimited mileage. Ask your host about late-pickup or early-return windows before booking, since flexible timing can stretch a weekend RV trip Burlington itinerary into a 3-day adventure.

Payment is straightforward and secure. You pay through RVezy's platform at booking, never directly to the host, which protects both sides and keeps your trip covered by the protection plan. A security deposit is held (not charged) on your card before the trip, with amounts that vary by RV and the protection level you select. As long as you return the RV in the condition you received it, with tanks handled per the host's instructions and within the mileage allowance, the hold is released after the trip. Do a thorough photo and video walk-around at pickup and dropoff in Burlington: it's the single best way to avoid any deposit disputes and start your Iowa adventure with confidence.
