🌄 Our First RV Adventure—10 Days of Fun & Freedom! - This was our very first RV vacation, and while we were a little hesitant at first, Bill made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. He was incredibly helpful—available before, during, and even after our trip to answer questions and offer support. His thorough walkthrough before we hit the road gave us confidence, especially with tips on what to do in different situations. We took the RV for 10 days from South Florida to the mountains of Maryland, stopping at six different campgrounds and even plugging in at my sister’s and in-laws’ homes for a few nights. The RV had everything we needed and was in great shape—clean, well-equipped, and surprisingly easy to drive. We returned it with just a minor hubcap issue and no other problems, which felt like a blessing after such a big trip. We had an absolute blast and would highly recommend this RV to anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and fun way to travel. Thanks again, Bill!

We had a great experience with Nicholas and his RV! We had the RV delivered and would do so again. It really relieved some of the hassle of camping 8 hours from home with delivery and set up taken care of. Our toddler slept well in the bunk room, which we all needed. And we were grateful for the A/C when an extreme heat warning started during the trip. We would absolutely rent from Nicholas again.

Hibiscus was amazing! It was nice and clean when we rented it and was fully stocked with everything you would need while camping dished, cookwares, silverware, and even chairs and an outdoor rug! Gary and his wife made sure that we would have a great trip. It was super easy to hook it up and the camp grounds. It drove great and was easier than expected and got even better gas mileage than we expected. I will most definitely be booking with Gary again in the future!

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Urbana, Maryland?

Good news: for the vast majority of RVs on RVezy, a standard Class C Maryland driver's license (or your equivalent home-state or home-country license) is all you need to rent an RV in Urbana. Maryland only requires a non-commercial Class B license if the motorhome's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) exceeds 26,000 pounds, which excludes nearly every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, and fifth wheel on the platform. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified through the booking process. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set to roll.

Winters average 27-45F with occasional snow, and many private campgrounds stay open year-round. Local insider tip: book the weekend of the Great Frederick Fair in mid-September (just 10 minutes from Urbana) for a uniquely local Maryland experience, but reserve your RV early.

I have never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving it from Urbana?

Absolutely, and Urbana is a great launching pad for first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host provides a full orientation at pickup, walking you through driving tips, leveling, hookups, the propane system, and the slide-outs before you leave. The roads radiating from Urbana (I-270, US-15, and MD-355) are wide, well-maintained, and mostly rural once you head north toward Frederick or west toward the mountains. Start with a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Urbana if you are nervous about size. Pro tip: do your first night at a close-by campground like Greenbrier State Park so you can practice setup with the host just a phone call away.

Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone before you leave Urbana, alongside your host's contact.

Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection coverage, confirm directly with the host before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage does not extend there. What should I budget for fuel on an Urbana RV trip?

Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but it is easy to plan for. Maryland gas prices typically run a few cents above the national average, with diesel slightly higher; check current prices at AAA's Gas Prices tool before you leave. Class B campervans average 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 8-12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes 6-10 MPG. Towable trailers do not burn fuel themselves, but expect your tow vehicle's MPG to drop 30-40%. A 400-mile loop from Urbana to Harpers Ferry, Gettysburg, and Antietam in a Class C burns roughly 40-50 gallons. Pro tip: I-270 corridor stations are often cheaper than the smaller routes through Frederick County, fuel up before heading into the mountains.

How far in advance should I reserve a campground near Urbana?

For Maryland State Park campgrounds (Greenbrier, Cunningham Falls, Gambrill, Patapsco Valley), book as early as you can: reservations open up to a year in advance through the Maryland Park Service reservation system. Summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day) typically require a 2-night minimum, and holiday weekends often require 3 nights. Private parks like Yogi Bear's Jellystone in Williamsport and the Harpers Ferry KOA fill up 3-6 months ahead for peak weekends. Pro tip: if your dream site shows as booked, check back often, Frederick County campgrounds see frequent cancellations a week or two before busy weekends.

What are the driving conditions like around Urbana?

Driving an RV around Urbana is genuinely manageable. I-270 (which runs right past town) and I-70 are wide, modern interstates, and US-15 north toward Frederick and Gettysburg is a four-lane divided highway with easy grades. The main caution is rush-hour traffic on I-270 southbound toward Washington, D.C. (6-9 a.m. weekdays) and northbound returning (3-7 p.m.). If you are heading west into the Catoctin Mountains via US-40 Alt or MD-77, expect some winding two-lane sections with notable grades, drive in a lower gear and use engine braking. Local insider tip: check live conditions on Maryland's CHART traffic map before you roll out of Frederick County.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Urbana?

Campgrounds around Urbana range from full-resort to rustic, so there is a fit for every comfort level. Private parks like Cherry Hill Park and the Harpers Ferry KOA offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer hookups, Wi-Fi, pools, laundry, and on-site stores. Maryland State Parks like Greenbrier and Cunningham Falls typically have electric hookups but no sewer at the site, with a central dump station, potable water fills, hot showers, and flush toilets. For dumping along your route, most KOAs and many state parks offer pay-to-dump service even if you are not staying. Pro tip: top off fresh water and dump before leaving any campground, it is the easiest 10 minutes you will spend all trip.

What is typically included inside an RV rental from Urbana?

Most RVs on RVezy in the Urbana area come fully equipped to live comfortably from day one. Expect a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink, basic cookware and utensils), a bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 2-8 depending on size, air conditioning, propane furnace, and seatbelts for everyone traveling. Many rentals also include a TV, Bluetooth speakers, outdoor camp chairs, and an awning; some offer onboard generators and Wi-Fi hotspots. Bedding and linen kits are often available as add-ons. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities section carefully and message the host about anything specific (instant pot, French press, kids' bunk safety rails), most are happy to accommodate.

How do pickup, drop-off, and add-ons work for an Urbana RV rental?

Pickup and drop-off are coordinated directly with your host through RVezy messaging, and they are flexible. You can pick up at the host's location in or near Urbana (think Frederick, Ijamsville, New Market) or have the RV delivered to your campsite or driveway. Common add-ons include linen and towel packages, camp chairs, propane fills, generator hours, bike racks, kayaks, and pet fees. Each host sets their own mileage policy (often 100-150 miles per night, sometimes unlimited) and overage rates. Pro tip: confirm pickup time, fuel-return expectations, and the cleaning/dump policy in writing before your trip, it makes drop-off in Frederick County a five-minute, stress-free handshake.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is straightforward and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card when you book, not directly to the host, which protects both of you. The security deposit is separate from your booking payment and is typically pre-authorized on your card around the start of your trip, then released after the host confirms the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid issues, walk around the RV with your host at pickup, take date-stamped photos and videos, and do the same at return. Pro tip: keep the dump tanks empty, top up fuel and propane to the level you received them, and you will see that deposit released quickly after your Urbana RV trip wraps up.
