The camper was clean, comfortable and was perfect for what was needed. They are very accommodating as Greg had to delivery one to a location almost two hours away one way. Then had to turn around and drop off to me which is around an hour. Every thing went smoothly, the generator starts on first pull and was great on gas. We were happy to have the camper on Thursday as it poured for part of the night. In the past when it rained we were in a tent. It was nice to be able to take a shower to get the dust off of me and sweat. Bed is super comfortable and the ac worked well but we only used it for a short time. All in all it was a great experience dealing with them. Will be looking forward to using them again next year.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience renting this small camper! It was immaculate—spotless, fresh, and perfectly maintained. As first-time campers, we were a little nervous, but Krystal’s wonderful communication made everything so easy. Krystal & Greg went above and beyond by personally setting up our sewer and water connections, which was incredibly helpful and reassuring. Their kindness and attention to detail made our trip stress-free and so enjoyable. Highly recommend renting from them—you won’t be disappointed!

**5 Stars – The Little Ditty Was a Dream!** We had such an amazing experience renting *The Little Ditty*! The RV itself was adorable – clean, cozy, and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable getaway. Whether we were camping by the coast or tucked into the trees, it felt like a perfect little home on wheels. But what truly made this rental stand out were Ryanna & Derek. They were absolutely fantastic from start to finish – incredibly helpful, friendly, and excellent communicators. They walked us through everything clearly, answered all our questions with patience, and made sure we felt completely confident and taken care of. Their kindness and attention to detail really made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. We can’t recommend *The Little Ditty* – and Ryanna & Derek – highly enough. If you’re looking for a unique RV adventure with awesome hosts, this is the one!

What happens if I need to cancel my Scotia RV rental?

Bring a tie-out, plenty of water, and waste bags and you're ready.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Scotia?

Yes, RV delivery Scotia is a game-changer for first-timers and a popular option on RVezy. Many local hosts will tow a travel trailer or fifth wheel straight to your campsite at Arrowhead Marina and RV Park in Glenville, Thompson's Lake Campground at Thacher State Park, or Moreau Lake State Park, then level it, hook up water, electric, and sewer, and walk you through every system before they leave. To find it, use the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host with your campground name and dates. This is also the easiest way to rent an RV in Scotia if you're flying into Albany International Airport (ALB) just 15 minutes south and don't want to drive the rig yourself.

Thompson's Lake Campground at John Boyd Thacher State Park (about 30 minutes south) offers gorgeous Helderberg escarpment views. Moreau Lake State Park (45 minutes north) is a family favorite with a sandy beach. Lake George RV Park (an hour north) is a full-amenity resort with pools and a trolley. For old-school charm, Twin Oaks Campground in Saratoga County is a 35-minute drive. Pro tip for RV camping Scotia: book New York State Park sites up to 9 months ahead through ReserveAmerica.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Scotia?

Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for an RV road trip from Scotia, with the absolute peak being late September to mid-October when the Mohawk Valley and Adirondack foliage explodes into red, orange, and gold. Summer highs average 75 to 82°F (June through August), perfect for swimming at Moreau Lake and exploring the Erie Canalway. Spring brings cool 50s and 60s and fewer crowds. Winter is genuinely cold, with January lows in the upper teens and frequent snow, but adventurous renters can still find four-season listings. Pro tip: visit during the second week of August for Saratoga's racing meet, or in early October for peak foliage drives along Route 30 into the Adirondacks.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Scotia?

You'll do great, and you're in good company because first time renting an RV is exactly who RVezy is built for. Every host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup that covers driving, leveling, the propane system, the water and waste tanks, and the generator if equipped, and you'll leave with their phone number for any questions on the road. Scotia is an ideal home base for beginners: roads are flat, well-marked, and traffic is light compared to NYC. Start with a short shakedown drive to Schenectady's Central Park or up to Saratoga before heading farther. Pro tip: for your very first trip, consider a Class B campervan rental Scotia, which drives much like a large van.

What if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You are covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on the Adirondack Northway (I-87), a dead battery at a Schoharie Crossing trailhead, or a lockout at Collins Park is one phone call away from help. Your host is also your first lifeline for quirks specific to their RV, like restarting the fridge or troubleshooting the awning, and most Scotia-area hosts respond within minutes by text. RVezy customer support backs you up before, during, and after the trip. Pro tip: snap photos of the propane tank, fuse panel, and water valves during your walkthrough so you can text them to your host if a question comes up.

Can I take my Scotia RV rental to Canada or another state?

Yes for most of North America, with one important note. Cross-border travel into Canada is allowed on many Scotia listings (Montreal is only about 3.5 hours north via I-87), but you'll want to confirm with your specific host and make sure insurance documentation is sorted before crossing at Champlain or Rouses Point. Interstate travel is generally welcome, and popular RV road trip from Scotia routes include Vermont and the Green Mountains (1 hour east), the Berkshires in Massachusetts (1 hour), Acadia National Park in Maine (8 hours), and Niagara Falls (5 hours west). One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there.

What should I budget for fuel on an RV trip from Scotia?

Budgeting fuel is easier than most renters expect. Class B campervans get 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but typically 10 to 14 mpg. Gas prices in the Scotia and Schenectady area generally track close to the New York state average, with stations along Route 5, Saratoga Road, and the Northway (I-87) being convenient fill points. For a 4-night, 300-mile loop through Saratoga, Lake George, and back to Scotia in a Class C, plan on roughly $120 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: use GasBuddy to find cheaper diesel in nearby Niskayuna or Glenville before heading into the Adirondacks where prices climb.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground for my Scotia RV trip?

Book sooner rather than later for the best sites. New York State Park campgrounds, including Thompson's Lake and Moreau Lake, open reservations up to 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and prime July and August weekends near Lake George can fill within days of release. Private parks like Arrowhead Marina along the Mohawk River and Lake George RV Park typically book 3 to 6 months out for summer holidays. Shoulder season (May, June, September) and weekdays usually have availability inside two weeks. Pro tip: if your dream campground shows sold out, set a free cancellation alert because cancellations happen constantly as plans shift.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/

What are driving conditions like around Scotia for an RV?

Driving an RV around Scotia is refreshingly stress-free compared to most metro areas. Local roads like Mohawk Avenue (Route 5) and Saratoga Road (Route 50) are flat, wide, and RV-friendly, and the Northway (I-87) heading to Lake George is a smooth, straight highway. Watch for the low rail bridges on Freemans Bridge Road and Washington Avenue (clearance under 11 feet) if you're in a taller Class A or Class C, and avoid downtown Schenectady's narrow Stockade District streets. Winter brings lake-effect snow and black ice from December through March, so most rentals are summer/shoulder season. Pro tip: use the New York 511 app for real-time traffic and any I-90 Thruway construction alerts before you roll out.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Scotia?

Capital Region campgrounds are well-equipped and welcoming. Most private parks like Arrowhead Marina, Twin Oaks, and Lake George RV Park offer full hookups (30/50 amp electric, water, sewer), dump stations, hot showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, dog parks, and camp stores. New York State Parks like Moreau Lake and Thompson's Lake usually have electric and water at most sites with central dump stations and potable water fill stations, plus swimming beaches and hiking trails. To dump tanks or top off fresh water mid-trip, the dump station at Arrowhead Marina is the most convenient near Scotia. Pro tip: most state park sites do not include sewer hookups, so plan a quick dump stop on travel days.
parks.ny.gov/parks/moreau-lake

What's inside a typical RV rental in Scotia?

You'll feel right at home. A typical motorhome rental Scotia comes fully equipped with a queen or king bed, additional sleeping for 4 to 8 in dinette and sofa conversions, a kitchen with three-burner stove, fridge/freezer, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof air conditioning, propane furnace, and a flat-screen TV. Many listings include a generator for boondocking, outdoor speakers, and a power awning. Wi-Fi is hit-or-miss in rural areas of the Mohawk Valley and Adirondacks, so most renters use their phone hotspot. Every passenger seat has a seatbelt for travel days. Pro tip: check the listing's amenity list and message the host to confirm specifics like a coffee maker or outdoor grill if those matter to you.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/seat-belts

What add-ons and options can I get with my Scotia RV rental?

Hosts in the Scotia area love making your trip turn-key. Popular add-ons include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor rugs, propane fire pits (huge at Adirondack campgrounds where wood fires can be restricted during dry spells), bike racks, generators, and kitchen/cookware kits. Delivery and setup fees vary by distance, with most local Scotia, Glenville, and Schenectady drop-offs running $2 to $4 per mile. Pickup is usually at the host's home, while drop-off at a Capital Region campground is often easy to arrange. Mileage policies are clearly listed on each listing page. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, linens, and a generator for the most stress-free RV camping Scotia experience.
tax.ny.gov/bus/st/sales_tax_rates.htm

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay directly through RVezy with a credit or debit card at booking, so there is no cash exchanged with the host at pickup. A refundable security deposit is handled separately from your booking payment and is typically pre-authorized (not charged) right before your trip starts, then released after a successful return. To avoid any deposit hiccups on your Scotia RV trip, do a thorough walkthrough video at pickup and drop-off, return the RV at the agreed time with the fuel and propane levels matching pickup, and dump the tanks if your host requests it. Pro tip: the dump station at Arrowhead Marina along the Mohawk is a convenient spot to top off and dump before your return.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Where can I park or stay overnight in an RV around Scotia?

You've got several solid options for where to park an RV in Scotia. The best bet for hookups is Arrowhead Marina and RV Park in Glenville, just minutes from the Village of Scotia along the Mohawk River. Overnight parking on village streets in Scotia and the Stockade in Schenectady is not permitted, so plan to base yourself at a campground. For one-night transit stops on a longer RV road trip from Scotia, many Walmart locations (like the one in Glenville on Saratoga Road) permit overnight RV parking with manager approval, and Cracker Barrel in Latham is another popular Capital Region option. Pro tip: always call ahead to confirm overnight policy, and never park overnight at New York State Thruway rest areas where it's prohibited.
