David was outstanding to work with from start to finish. His professionalism, communication, and attention to detail made the entire RV rental experience smooth and stress-free. The RV was exactly as described—clean, well-maintained, and ready to go. He took the time to walk me through everything and made sure I was comfortable before hitting the road. Excellent Campervan Experience We recently rented a campervan to travel to Savannah and Northern Georgia. We had a great time, thanks to the excellent orientation provided by Morgan. We truly had everything we needed, from a French Press to start our days out right to a comfy bed that accommodated two adults comfortably. It was an amazing experience, with all the comforts of home while still being able to connect with nature. Morgan was a phenomenal host and we can't recommend him highly enough!

If you find yourself lucky enough to be able to book David's trailer, do it, You will not be disappointed. David is great to work with - helped us get everything set up correctly to tow ourselves and walked us through how everything works on the trailer. The trailer is so well set-up -it has everything you need but it's not cluttered leaving you plenty of space to bring in your own belongings. It was pretty cold at night when we were camping but the heater kept us toasty. the kids loved the bunk beds. The bathroom had a small tub which we didn't use but I liked knowing I could have had the kids gotten (more) muddy. We towed with a Kia Telluride - it was probably the limit of what it could tow but it did just fine for the shorter distance we were going. We probably should have just had David deliver it for us but we wanted to test out how well the Telluride towed.

Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and there's a grace period after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. When is the best time to visit Murphy, NC for an RV trip?

Murphy has a true four-season climate, and the sweet spot for an RV trip is mid-April through June and again from September through late October. Spring brings highs in the mid-60s to mid-70s with wildflowers blooming along the Appalachian Trail. Summers are warm and humid (highs around 84-86°F in July) with afternoon thundershowers, perfect for floating the Hiwassee River. Fall is the showstopper: late October is peak foliage when the Blue Ridge Mountains explode in color. Winters are cold (lows in the high 20s) with occasional snow at higher elevations. Pro tip: book your Murphy RV rental for the third week of October if you want peak leaf-peeping, those dates fill up first.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I really be okay?

Yes, and Murphy is an ideal place for first-time renters. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering propane, water systems, the awning, slide-outs, and driving tips, so you're never left guessing. The roads around Murphy are mostly two-lane highways like US-64 and US-19 with gentle grades, much friendlier than mountain passes farther north. Choose a smaller Class C motorhome or travel trailer for your first time, and consider delivery so the host sets everything up for you at the campground. Pro tip: message your host with any questions before booking, most Murphy hosts are local enthusiasts who love helping first-timers. RVezy's 24/7 support is also a text away during your whole trip.

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You're never on your own. Every Murphy RV rental on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering flat tires, lockouts, dead batteries, and tows. If you have a mechanical issue on a remote stretch of the Cherohala Skyway or near Fontana Lake, just call the number provided in your trip details and help is dispatched. For non-emergency questions (how does this generator work?), your host is your first call, they know their RV inside and out. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup, it speeds up any service call.

Can I drive my Murphy RV rental into Tennessee or Georgia?

Absolutely, cross-state travel is one of the best parts of basing your trip in Murphy. The Tennessee state line is just 15 minutes west, and Georgia is about 10 minutes south, so popular RV road trips from Murphy easily cross both. RVezy's protection plan applies for travel within the United States and Canada, so you can confidently take the Ocoee River whitewater route into TN or head south to Blue Ridge, GA. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: a favorite loop from Murphy is Hiawassee, GA to Tellico Plains, TN via the Cherohala Skyway, about 165 miles of mountain scenery you can do in a long weekend.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Murphy RV trip?

Budgeting fuel for your Murphy RV trip is straightforward once you know the numbers. Class B campervans average 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8-12 MPG, and Class A rigs typically run 6-10 MPG. Gas prices in Cherokee County tend to track near the North Carolina state average, and you'll find competitive prices at stations along US-64 in downtown Murphy and at the Murphy Truck Stop. If you're driving a 200-mile loop to Great Smoky Mountains National Park and back in a Class C, expect to spend roughly $60-$90 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Murphy before heading into the Nantahala National Forest, the next reliable stations on US-19/74 toward Bryson City are 30+ miles away.

How far in advance should I book a campground in Murphy?

For the best Murphy campgrounds, plan ahead but don't stress. Federal sites in the Nantahala National Forest like Jackrabbit Mountain Campground open reservations 6 months ahead on Recreation.gov, and summer weekends on Lake Chatuge book up fast. Private parks like Persimmon Creek, Foxfire, and Rolling Meadows usually take reservations 3-4 months out, with some availability closer to your date. October foliage weekends are the single busiest time, so lock those in by July if possible. Pro tip: shoulder-season midweek nights (Sunday-Thursday in May or September) often have same-week openings even at popular parks, perfect if you want a spontaneous RV camping Murphy weekend.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/234180

What are the local driving conditions like around Murphy?

Driving an RV around Murphy is more relaxed than people expect. The main routes (US-64, US-19, US-129) are well-maintained two-lane highways with moderate grades, very manageable even for first-time RV drivers. Watch for tight curves on the Cherohala Skyway and steep sections on the Tail of the Dragon (US-129), which is famous but not RV-friendly for rigs over 30 feet. In winter, occasional snow and ice can affect higher elevations, so check NCDOT travel conditions if you're traveling December through February. Summer afternoon thunderstorms can pop up quickly. Pro tip: avoid the Tail of the Dragon entirely in any RV and stick to US-74 toward Bryson City for a much smoother drive to the Smokies.

What amenities will I find at Murphy area campgrounds?

Campgrounds near Murphy are well-equipped for a comfortable RV camping experience. Most private parks like Rolling Meadows and Foxfire offer full water/electric/sewer (W/E/S) hookups with 30/50-amp service, on-site dump stations, hot showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi. National Forest campgrounds like Jackrabbit Mountain provide flush toilets, showers, and potable water but typically no individual sewer hookups, you'll use the dump station on departure. Persimmon Creek RV Park offers creekside sites with full hookups plus catch-and-release fishing ponds. Pro tip: if you're staying at a Nantahala National Forest site, fill your fresh water tank before arrival and plan to dump at the campground exit. The on-site host can point you to the dump station and potable water fill.
fs.usda.gov/r08/northcarolina/recreation/camping-cabins

What features and amenities can I expect inside my Murphy RV rental?

You'll be surprised how well-equipped Murphy RV rentals are. Most listings on RVezy include a full kitchen (fridge, stovetop, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, comfortable sleeping for 2-8 depending on size, climate control, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth speakers, outdoor awning, and an onboard generator for boondocking in the Nantahala National Forest. Higher-end Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels often add washer/dryers, residential fridges, and king beds. Wi-Fi varies by host (cell signal can be spotty in the mountains around Murphy, so download maps offline). Pro tip: check the listing's amenity list for a generator if you want to camp at non-electric sites in the national forest.
fs.usda.gov/r08/northcarolina/recreation/nantahala-national-forest

What add-ons and pickup options are common for Murphy RV rentals?

Murphy hosts offer some genuinely useful add-ons to make your trip easier. Common options include kitchen kits ($25-50), bed linens and towels ($15-30 per person), camp chairs and outdoor rugs, bikes, kayaks, propane fill, and generator use. Many hosts also offer a dump-and-clean service for $75-150 so you don't have to handle tanks at the end of your trip. Pickup is usually at the host's location near Murphy or Andrews, and delivery is widely available to campgrounds like Jackrabbit Mountain and Rivers Edge. Mileage policies vary, with some offering unlimited mileage and others including 100-150 miles per day. Pro tip: bundling delivery plus dump-and-clean makes a Murphy RV trip nearly hands-off, ideal for families flying into Atlanta or Asheville.

How does payment and the security deposit work for a Murphy RV rental?

Payment on RVezy is simple and secure. You'll pay through the platform when you book, never directly to the host, so your transaction is protected. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment before your trip starts, and the amount is set by the host (commonly several hundred to over a thousand dollars depending on the RV). The deposit is released after your trip if there's no damage, no missing items, and the RV is returned with the agreed fuel and tank levels. Pro tip: at pickup, do a thorough walkaround with your host and take time-stamped photos and a quick video of the interior, especially the slide-outs and exterior. It takes 5 minutes and protects your deposit.
