We absolutely loved everything about Amber and Trent’s RV- tons of space, super clean, easy to use, and had the essentials. It was the perfect home base for our family weekend getaway. Trent set it up really nicely for us, gave us a quick tour, and was super quick to respond with any questions we had. We hope we get the chance to rent their RV again soon!

So glad I chose to rent an rv for the first time this weekend, as it rained 2 of 3 days and nights. Communication was smooth, even when a strange fluke occurred and I accidently got locked out. Matt immediately drove out to the site with a spare. It seemed to be a malfunction in the mechanism which I'm sure they will be addressing soon. The camper was clean, well equipped and simple to operate. The bed was comfy and I am particular. So , I was , a happy camper.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Chattanooga, TN?

Great news for first-time renters: Tennessee does not require a special license or CDL to operate a recreational vehicle, even larger Class A motorhomes. A regular Class D driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Chattanooga. You'll need to be at least 25 years old to be an approved driver on RVezy, and identity verification happens right inside the platform when you create your account, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're ready to roll.

Yes, and that's one of the best parts of booking with RVezy. Every RV rental in Chattanooga includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you're never alone if something happens on I-75 or up on Lookout Mountain. The protection plan covers damage to the vehicle and provides financial peace of mind. Pro tip: take a quick video walkaround at pickup and drop-off for a smooth, stress-free trip.

What if I need to cancel my Chattanooga RV trip?

Booking with confidence is easy: RVezy sets the cancellation policy on every reservation, not individual hosts, so the rules are consistent across every listing in Chattanooga. You'll see the specific timeline applied during checkout. If your plans change, contact RVezy support and they'll walk you through your options.

Can I bring my dog on my Chattanooga RV rental?

Absolutely, Chattanooga is a fantastic dog town and finding a pet-friendly RV rental in Chattanooga is easy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see hosts who welcome four-legged passengers (some charge a small pet fee, which shows on the listing). Once you're here, your pup will love the off-leash area at Coolidge Park, the dog-friendly Tennessee Riverwalk, and the patios along the North Shore. Harrison Bay State Park allows leashed pets throughout the campground, and Raccoon Mountain Campground has pet-friendly sites near the cave system. Pack extra water for summer humidity and you're set.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Chattanooga?

Yes, RV delivery in Chattanooga is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drive the RV to your chosen campground (Raccoon Mountain Campground, Harrison Bay State Park, and Best Holiday Trav-L-Park are common drop-off spots), level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Filter for Delivery on the search page to see hosts offering this service, and you'll see the per-mile delivery fee right on the listing. It's the easiest way to skip city driving on Highway 27 and start your trip relaxed.

How does mileage work on a Chattanooga RV rental?

You'll have plenty of room to roam. Most Chattanooga hosts include between 100 and 150 free miles per night, and some offer unlimited mileage packages, perfect for a longer RV road trip from Chattanooga. Additional miles typically run $0.35 to $0.50 each, listed clearly on every RVezy listing. To put that in context, Nashville is about 135 miles north, Atlanta is 120 miles south, the Great Smoky Mountains entrance at Gatlinburg is around 145 miles east, and Asheville is roughly 240 miles northeast. Pro tip: if you're planning a multi-state loop, message the host before booking to ask about a flat-rate unlimited mileage add-on.

Where are the best campgrounds near Chattanooga for RVs?

You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Chattanooga include Raccoon Mountain Campground (about 10 minutes west of downtown, near the caverns and Lookout Mountain), Harrison Bay State Park (about 20 minutes north on Chickamauga Lake, with hookups and a marina), Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga (just off I-75 with a pool and pull-throughs), Chattanooga North/Cleveland KOA Holiday (about 30 minutes up I-75 near the Ocoee River), and Best Holiday Trav-L-Park on Lookout Mountain Highway. Heads up: overnight RV parking is not permitted in downtown Chattanooga, so book a campsite in advance, especially for fall foliage weekends.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip in Chattanooga?

Chattanooga is a year-round RV destination thanks to its humid subtropical climate, but the sweet spots are mid-April through May and mid-September through early November. Spring brings mild 60 to 80 degree days and blooming dogwoods, while fall delivers spectacular foliage on Lookout Mountain that typically peaks mid-October to early November. Summers (June through August) are hot and humid with highs around 88 to 93 degrees, so look for shaded campsites and RVs with strong AC. Winters are mild, with January highs near 50, making it one of the few Southeast cities where RV camping in Chattanooga stays comfortable year-round.

I've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Chattanooga a good idea for first-timers?

Chattanooga is one of the friendliest cities in the Southeast for first time renting an RV. Streets in the suburbs and along the Tennessee River are wide, the surrounding interstates (I-24, I-75, I-59) have generous shoulders, and most campgrounds are within 15 to 30 minutes of downtown so you're never driving far on day one. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, showing you the slide-outs, water systems, generator, and dump procedure. If you'd rather not drive at all on day one, choose a host who offers delivery and they'll set everything up at your campsite. Start with a Class C or campervan for the easiest learning curve.

What happens if my RV breaks down during my Chattanooga trip?

You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so whether you get a flat near Ruby Falls, a battery issue on Signal Mountain, or a tow situation on I-24, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also a direct line of support and can walk you through quick fixes (like resetting a tripped GFCI or restarting the generator) over the phone. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip if you need to escalate. Pro tip: save the roadside number to your phone before pickup and keep the RV's registration and protection documents in the glovebox.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protection

Can I take my Chattanooga RV rental on a road trip to other states?

Absolutely, and Chattanooga is one of the best launchpads in the Southeast for an interstate RV adventure. Popular routes include the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (about 2.5 hours northeast via I-75 and I-40), Nashville (about 2 hours north on I-24), Atlanta and the North Georgia mountains (under 2 hours south on I-75), Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway (around 4 hours northeast), and the Gulf Coast at Gulf Shores (roughly 6.5 hours south). U.S. interstate travel is welcome on every RVezy rental. Cross-border trips to Mexico are not permitted, and travel into Canada depends on the host and protection coverage, so message before booking.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Chattanooga RV trip?

Fuel is easier on the wallet in Tennessee than in many states. Expect a campervan or Class B to get 18 to 22 MPG, a Class C around 8 to 12 MPG, and a larger Class A between 6 and 9 MPG. For a weekend loop from Chattanooga to Harrison Bay State Park, Lookout Mountain, and back (around 100 miles), figure $40 to $80 in fuel for most motorhomes. Pro tip: fill up at the Pilot or Love's stops just outside the city limits on I-75 before heading into the mountains, where prices climb quickly.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Chattanooga?

Booking early is the move, but it's totally doable. Tennessee State Parks like Harrison Bay and Booker T. Washington open reservations up to one year in advance through the reserve.tnstateparks.com system, with a $5 nonrefundable reservation fee per site. For summer weekends and October foliage, aim to book 3 to 6 months out. Private parks like Raccoon Mountain Campground and Holiday Travel Park book fast on holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day), so secure those 2 to 3 months ahead. For weekday spring or winter trips, a week or two of notice is usually plenty. Local insider tip: shoulder-season Thursdays and Sundays often have great last-minute openings.

What are the driving conditions like around Chattanooga?

Chattanooga is a manageable city to drive an RV through, with a few local tips to set you up for success. The I-24 corridor through Monteagle Mountain (about 35 miles west of downtown) is a steep, winding grade where you'll want to downshift and use lower gears. Lookout Mountain's Ochs Highway and the Incline Railway area have tight turns and low overhangs, so larger Class A motorhomes should use Highway 11 or Cummings Highway instead. Downtown Chattanooga has several low bridges along Market Street and Broad Street that don't accommodate tall RVs. Use an RV-specific GPS app, avoid rush hour on I-75 between 4 and 6 p.m., and you'll cruise comfortably.
smartway.tn.gov/traffic

What amenities will I find at Chattanooga area campgrounds?

You'll find excellent amenities at most campgrounds near Chattanooga. Harrison Bay State Park offers water and electric hookups (30-amp service, with some big-rig sites accommodating up to 65 feet), a centralized dump station, hot-shower bathhouses in each of the four loops, a marina, and a swimming pool. Raccoon Mountain Campground has full hookups including sewer, plus laundry and a pool. Holiday Travel Park features pull-through full hookups, Wi-Fi, and a dog park. Most local parks let you fill fresh water at your site or at a centralized spigot. Pro tip: if you need to dump on your way back to the host, Camping World of Chattanooga off I-75 offers a public dump station for a small fee.

What's typically included inside a Chattanooga RV rental?

Chattanooga rentals come ready for adventure. Most motorhome rentals in Chattanooga include a fully equipped kitchen (fridge, microwave, stove, sink), a bathroom with shower and toilet, sleeping for 4 to 8 depending on the floor plan, roof AC, furnace, and a propane tank. Class C and Class A units typically have seatbelts for everyone riding, plus a generator for boondocking off Signal Mountain or near the Cherokee National Forest. Many hosts include Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor chairs, leveling blocks, and a fully stocked kitchen kit as add-ons. TVs and Bluetooth stereos are common in newer rigs. Check the listing's amenities section, and message the host about anything specific you need for your family RV trip in Chattanooga.
energy.gov/energysaver/recreational-vehicles

What add-ons and pickup options should I expect when I rent an RV in Chattanooga?

Hosts in Chattanooga offer a great mix of add-ons to customize your trip. Common options include generator hours, propane refills, bike racks, kayak/SUP carriers (popular for Tennessee River paddling), camping chair and table kits, bedding and linen packages, outdoor grills, and pet cleaning fees. Pickup is usually self-serve at the host's home base, often near East Brainerd, Hixson, Ooltewah, or East Ridge. Mileage policies and add-on prices are clearly listed on each RVezy listing before you book. Pro tip: if you're flying into Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA), ask your host about meeting you near the airport for an extra-easy start, many will accommodate for a small fee.

How does the security deposit and payment work on RVezy?

Payment is straightforward and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card when you book, no cash or off-platform transactions needed. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before pickup (typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV) and released after drop-off, assuming the rig comes back in the same condition. To avoid deposit issues on your Chattanooga RV rental, take timestamped photos and video at pickup and drop-off, return with the fuel and propane at the agreed level, empty the gray and black tanks at a dump station like the one at Harrison Bay before you head back, and stay within the listed mileage.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Can I rent an RV in Chattanooga during winter?

Yes, winter RV camping in Chattanooga is a hidden gem. With January highs averaging near 50 degrees and lows around 31, you'll get crisp, quiet days perfect for hiking Stringer's Ridge or visiting the Tennessee Aquarium without summer crowds. Many Chattanooga hosts keep their rigs available year-round, and you'll often find lower nightly rates between December and February. Look for RVs with heated holding tanks, a working furnace, and shore-power hookups, and confirm those features with the host before booking. Harrison Bay State Park stays open all winter. Bring layers and enjoy a peaceful Scenic City escape.
