Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Sequim, WA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Sequim?
RV rental in Sequim is affordable, with most travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night and Class C motorhomes typically running $175 to $300 per night on RVezy. Because hosts set their own pricing, you'll find plenty of cheap RV rental Sequim options if you book midweek or travel in the shoulder seasons of April, May, September, and October. Lavender Festival weekend in mid-July is the priciest stretch, so book early or shift your trip by a week to save. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book for the best deals and use the price slider to match your budget, then message the host directly about discounts for stays of 5+ nights.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Sequim%2C%20WashingtonWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Sequim?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Sequim. Washington State does not require a special RV license or commercial driver's license (CDL) for any motorhome or travel trailer available on RVezy, so your everyday license works for a Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, or fifth wheel. You'll need to be at least 25 years old, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking, so there are no in-person paperwork hassles. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit from your home auto club before you fly into Seattle, then you're road-ready for the drive across the Hood Canal Bridge to Sequim.
dol.wa.gov/driver-licenses-and-permitsIs RV rental in Sequim covered by protection and roadside assistance?
Yes, every RV rental in Sequim booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 101 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most damages to the vehicle, and you choose your coverage level during checkout, not the host, so you control how much extra reassurance you want. If you get a flat on the way up to Hurricane Ridge or need a battery jump at Dungeness Recreation Area, one phone call gets help dispatched day or night. This provides substantial financial protection so a small mishap won't derail your Olympic Peninsula adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Sequim RV trip plans change?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy, not individual hosts, and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book. That means if Olympic National Park announces a road closure or a family schedule shifts, you have flexibility built in. Cancellation terms depend on factors like how far out from your trip start date you cancel. You'll see the exact policy details during checkout and in your RVezy account, and customer support is available before, during, and after your trip to help you sort out any changes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Sequim?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental Sequim options are easy to find on RVezy using the Pet-Friendly filter, and your pup will love the trip as much as you do. Sequim is dog-welcoming, with leashed-pet access at Dungeness Recreation Area's bluff trails, the paved Olympic Discovery Trail through Carrie Blake Park, and dog-friendly patios downtown. Many local campgrounds, including Rainbow's End RV Park and John Wayne's Waterfront Resort, welcome leashed pets. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet rules, then pack a towel because Dungeness Spit beach walks usually end in happy, sandy paws.
clallamcountywa.gov/294/Parks-Fair-FacilitiesCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Sequim?
Yes, RV delivery Sequim is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game changer if you're new to RVing or flying into Seattle without a tow vehicle. Many hosts will deliver and set up the RV directly at Sequim Bay State Park, Dungeness Recreation Area, or John Wayne's Waterfront Resort, then walk you through every system before handing over the keys. You skip the drive across the Hood Canal Bridge entirely and arrive to a fully leveled, hooked-up rig ready for s'mores. Use the Delivery filter when searching, and message the host to confirm the delivery fee and distance, since rates vary by mileage from their home base.
parks.wa.gov/489/Sequim-BayHow far can I drive on a Sequim RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?
You've got plenty of road to roam on a Sequim RV trip, and yes, RV rental with unlimited mileage is available from many RVezy hosts, especially for longer bookings. Most listings include a daily mileage allowance (often 100 to 150 miles per day), with extra miles available as a small per-mile fee. From Sequim you can easily reach Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park (about 35 miles), the Hoh Rain Forest (around 110 miles), Port Townsend (30 miles), Cape Flattery (95 miles), and Mount Rainier (about 200 miles). Pro tip: when you message the host, mention your planned route and ask about a mileage package deal for the full trip.
nps.gov/olym/planyourvisit/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Sequim for an RV trip?
You're spoiled for choice with RV camping Sequim options, and most campgrounds sit within 15 minutes of downtown. Sequim Bay State Park offers wooded sites with bay views and utility hookups. Dungeness Recreation Area, a Clallam County Park, has 66 sites near the famous Dungeness Spit. Rainbow's End RV Park is a friendly, well-kept option close to downtown shops, John Wayne's Waterfront Resort sits right on Sequim Bay, and Diamond Point RV Park offers full-hookup sites just east of town. Pro tip: reserve summer sites at Washington State Parks the moment the booking window opens, typically nine months ahead.
parks.wa.gov/489/Sequim-BayWhen is the best time to visit Sequim in an RV?
July and August are the sweet spot for a Sequim RV trip, with mild highs around 72°F, dry skies, and Sequim's famous rain shadow keeping you sunny while the rest of western Washington gets misty. Sequim averages roughly 16 to 17 inches of rain per year and the third weekend of July brings the iconic Sequim Lavender Weekend, when the Dungeness Valley fields turn purple. May, June, September, and October are excellent shoulder months with smaller crowds and easier campground availability. Pro tip: even in summer, pack a light fleece for evenings since night temperatures dip into the low 50s, perfect for campfires under clear stars.
weather.gov/sew/I'm first time renting an RV. Is Sequim a good place to start?
Sequim is one of the easiest first-time RV destinations on the West Coast, and you'll feel confident from the moment your host walks you through every system at pickup. The area's main roads (Highway 101 and Sequim-Dungeness Way) are wide, flat, and well-signed, campgrounds are close to town, and traffic is light compared to Seattle. Your RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation covering propane, water, slide-outs, and dumping, plus they're a quick text away during your trip. Many hosts offer delivery, so you can skip driving the rig entirely if you'd rather just settle in. Pro tip: book one night close to home as a shakedown before driving up to Hurricane Ridge.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my Sequim trip?
You're never on your own, and that's the beauty of booking through RVezy. Every rental includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so a flat tire on Highway 101, a dead battery at Salt Creek, or a generator hiccup at Dungeness gets sorted with a single call. Your host is also your first text away for quick questions, like how to reset the inverter, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Cell service is solid throughout the Sequim-Dungeness Valley, though it can get patchy deep in Olympic National Park, so screenshot key contact numbers before heading toward Hurricane Ridge or the Hoh Rain Forest.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/real-timeCan I take my Sequim RV rental on a road trip to Canada or other states?
You can plan an epic RV road trip from Sequim across Washington and into Oregon, Idaho, or beyond, and many RVezy hosts also allow cross-border travel into British Columbia, since Sequim is just a short drive and ferry ride from Victoria. Travel to Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection don't extend there. For Canada trips, message the host before booking to confirm cross-border permission and to get a notarized travel letter if required at the Peace Arch crossing. Popular routes include Sequim to Vancouver Island via the Coho Ferry, Sequim to the Oregon Coast (about 250 miles), and Sequim to Glacier National Park.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for a Sequim RV trip?
Budgeting fuel is straightforward once you know the numbers. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 mpg, and a truck towing a travel trailer typically runs 10 to 14 mpg. Washington gas prices tend to run higher than the national average, and Sequim has several convenient stations including the Costco in Sequim (members-only and usually the cheapest), Safeway Fuel on West Washington Street, and a 76 station on Highway 101. For a week-long loop hitting Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, and Port Townsend (roughly 350 miles), budget around $150 to $250 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Sequim before heading west toward Forks since prices climb the deeper you go into the peninsula.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Sequim?
For summer weekends, book your campground the moment reservations open. Washington State Parks accepts reservations up to nine months in advance through its reservation system, so Sequim Bay State Park books out fast for July and August. Dungeness Recreation Area, run by Clallam County, fills up especially around Lavender Weekend. Private parks like Rainbow's End RV Park, John Wayne's Waterfront Resort, and Diamond Point RV Park accept reservations directly through their websites and tend to open booking windows 6 to 12 months out. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) almost always have last-minute openings, even in peak summer.
washington.goingtocamp.com/What are driving conditions like around Sequim?
Driving around Sequim is genuinely relaxing, especially compared to Seattle traffic. Highway 101 through town is flat, four-lane, and easy in any size RV, and local routes like Sequim-Dungeness Way and Old Olympic Highway are wide farm roads with mountain views. The main thing to watch is the climb up to Hurricane Ridge, an 18-mile road from Port Angeles that gains 5,200 feet with sustained grades, so downshift, use engine braking, and check brakes at the turnouts. The Hood Canal Bridge connecting the peninsula to the Seattle side is RV-friendly with no height restrictions for standard rigs. Pro tip: check WSDOT's real-time mountain pass cameras before heading to Hurricane Ridge, since snow can linger into June.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/real-time/mountainpassesWhere do I dump waste and fill water near Sequim?
Sequim makes RV logistics simple with several dump and water fill options within a 10-mile radius. Sequim Bay State Park has a dump station and potable water available to overnight guests (when the park is open outside the 2026 summer closure), and Dungeness Recreation Area offers a dump station for registered campers. The City of Sequim and most full-hookup parks like Rainbows End RV Park, Diamond Point RV Park, and John Wayne's Waterfront Resort include site sewer connections so you can dump at your site. For free overnight stays, 7 Cedars Casino just east of Sequim allows complimentary RV parking with water and electric. Pro tip: top off freshwater before heading west toward the Hoh Rain Forest, where services thin out fast.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/sequim-bay-state-parkWhat amenities come with a motorhome rental Sequim hosts offer?
Motorhome rental Sequim listings on RVezy come fully equipped for comfortable Olympic Peninsula adventures. Expect a queen or king bed, fresh and gray water tanks, a propane stove and oven, a fridge and freezer, a wet or dry bathroom with shower, dinette seating with seatbelts for travel, roof AC and a furnace, and often a generator for off-grid stays. Many rigs include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and outdoor speakers, and a growing number of hosts add mobile WiFi hotspots for working from Dungeness Bay views. Class C motorhomes typically sleep 4 to 7, while travel trailers often sleep 6 to 10 for a family RV trip Sequim adventure. Pro tip: check the listing photos for a propane fire pit, perfect since open fires are sometimes restricted in late summer.
dnr.wa.gov/burn-restrictionsWhat add-ons and options do Sequim RV hosts typically offer?
Sequim hosts are known for thoughtful add-ons that make your trip feel turnkey. Common options include bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits with pots, pans, and utensils, outdoor camp chairs and tables, propane refills, bike racks, kayak transport, generator use, and pet cleaning fees if you're bringing the dog. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on for campervan rental Sequim guests flying into Seattle, with fees based on distance from the host's home base. Mileage policies vary, so always check the daily allowance and per-mile rate listed on the page. Pro tip: bundle multiple add-ons when messaging your host. Many will offer a small discount for booking the full package.
commerce.wa.gov/How do payment and the security deposit work for a Sequim RV rental?
Payment is straightforward and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, and your booking total is split into an initial payment and a balance due before pickup. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card and released after the host confirms the rig was returned clean, fueled, and damage-free. To avoid issues, do a thorough walk-around with the host at pickup and dropoff, take date-stamped photos, and return the RV with the same fuel and propane level it left with. Pro tip: empty the gray and black tanks at a Sequim dump station before dropoff to keep your deposit return quick and easy.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a hidden local gem I should add to my Sequim RV itinerary?
Most visitors rush to Hurricane Ridge and miss the magic right in Sequim's backyard: the roughly 5-mile walk out to the New Dungeness Lighthouse on Dungeness Spit, one of the longest natural sand spits in the United States, protected as the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. Time your hike with low tide, bring binoculars for harbor seals and bald eagles, and you'll be one of only a handful of people that day to actually reach the 1857 lighthouse. Park your RV at Dungeness Recreation Area, where the trailhead starts right from the campground. Pro tip: pair this with a stop at Graysmarsh Farm for fresh berries in summer, a sweet ending to a quintessential Sequim day.
