🌄 Our First RV Adventure—10 Days of Fun & Freedom! - This was our very first RV vacation, and while we were a little hesitant at first, Bill made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. He was incredibly helpful—available before, during, and even after our trip to answer questions and offer support. His thorough walkthrough before we hit the road gave us confidence, especially with tips on what to do in different situations. We took the RV for 10 days from South Florida to the mountains of Maryland, stopping at six different campgrounds and even plugging in at my sister’s and in-laws’ homes for a few nights. The RV had everything we needed and was in great shape—clean, well-equipped, and surprisingly easy to drive. We returned it with just a minor hubcap issue and no other problems, which felt like a blessing after such a big trip. We had an absolute blast and would highly recommend this RV to anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and fun way to travel. Thanks again, Bill!

Far and away a better experience than we could have hoped for. Sassy was the PERFECT RV for us. Very clean, adequate space (2 adults and a dog), well stocked with useful items and just all around fantastic. We traveled from CT to West Virginia, the trip just wouldn't have been the same without such comfortable accommodations. The couple was informative and incredibly flexible and accommodating with our unique schedule. We truly cannot say enough good things about our experience. We're already beginning to plan our next trip with Sassy. Thanks so much!!

Dealing with Scott was fantastic! This was my first time renting a trailer and he made things a breeze. He was very easy to communicate with and delivered as promised. We opted for delivery and he was right on time for drop off and pick up! Very helpful throughout the process. As for the trailer, it was exactly as advertised. It was extremely clean and well maintained. Even stocked with cookware, utensils, and dishes. As well as towels, pillows, and bed linens, all clean, fresh and neatly folded. The campground we stayed at did not have electric hookups, so we rented his generator as well. Worked great, easy start up and was decent on fuel consumption. I saw a review complaining about rodents, but there were absolutely no signs of them anywhere. I would absolutely recommend Scott and his trailer to anyone and plan to use him in the future!

How much should I budget for fuel on my Falling Waters RV trip?

Fuel is one of the easier line items to estimate. Expect roughly 8 to 10 MPG for a Class A, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C motorhome rental in Falling Waters, 14 to 18 MPG for a campervan rental in Falling Waters, and your tow vehicle's normal MPG minus 30 to 40 percent if you are pulling a travel trailer. West Virginia gas prices typically run close to the national average, and you will find competitive truck stops at the Spring Mills and Williamsport I-81 exits. For a 3-day, 300-mile loop in a Class C, budget roughly $120 to $180 in fuel. Fill up in WV before crossing into Maryland, where fuel taxes are usually higher.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Falling Waters?

For the best sites, book your campground as soon as you've locked in your RV. National Park Service campgrounds along the C&O Canal and at Antietam use Recreation.gov and open reservations 6 months in advance, those summer weekends and fall foliage dates go fast. West Virginia State Parks use the official state reservation system and also open 6 months ahead. Private parks like Falling Waters Campground and Jellystone in Williamsport take reservations year-round, with summer holidays filling up 2 to 3 months out. Pro tip: if you're aiming for an October leaf-peeping weekend, set a calendar reminder for early April when those slots release, it's the single best move you can make.

What are driving conditions like around Falling Waters?

Driving an RV around Falling Waters is refreshingly stress-free compared to bigger metro areas. I-81 runs right past town with wide lanes and long on-ramps, and Route 11 (the old Valley Pike) is flat and RV-friendly. Watch for occasional fog along the Potomac River bottoms in early morning, and slow down for the curving descent on US-11 toward Williamsport. Winter can bring brief snow or ice from December through February, so check forecasts and ask your host about traction recommendations. Avoid I-81 northbound on Sunday evenings when DC-area weekenders head home; traffic backs up at the Spring Mills exit. Take Route 11 instead for a scenic, traffic-free alternative.
weather.gov/lwx/

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Falling Waters?

Campgrounds around Falling Waters range from full-service resorts to rustic riverside spots, so there is something for every comfort level. Falling Waters Campground and Jellystone in Williamsport offer full hookups (water, electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools. Antietam Creek and other C&O Canal campgrounds are more primitive with vault toilets and no hookups, perfect for self-contained RVs. Dump stations are available at Falling Waters Campground for guests, and several I-81 truck stops near the area also offer dump and potable water for a small fee. Top off freshwater before leaving the campground, since public fill stations are limited in rural Berkeley County.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is straightforward and fully handled through the RVezy platform, with no cash, checks, or awkward exchanges with the host. You will pay your rental total at booking using a credit or debit card, and a refundable security deposit is held separately shortly before your trip starts. Deposit amounts vary by RV class, typically $500 to $1,500, and the hold is released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape, usually within a few days of dropoff. Do a quick walkthrough video at pickup and dropoff to keep things smooth. Returning the RV at the same fuel level is one of the easiest ways to protect your full deposit.

Is winter RV camping possible around Falling Waters?

Yes, winter RV trips from Falling Waters are a hidden gem. The Potomac Valley stays milder than the WV mountains, with January highs typically in the upper 30s to low 40s F. A handful of hosts keep their RVs available year-round, and many feature heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces ideal for shoulder-season camping. Cacapon Resort State Park and Rocky Gap (just over the MD line) stay open in winter with electric hookups, perfect for a cozy weekend with a snowy hike. When booking a winter trip, message the host to confirm the RV is winterized for use (not storage) and ask about freeze prevention on the coldest nights.
