Campgrounds and RV parks near Peace No. 135, AB

Peace No. 135 is a municipal district in northwestern Alberta, sitting in the Peace River country roughly halfway between the town of Peace River and the High Level area along Highway 35. The landscape is boreal forest mixed with farmland, dotted with small lakes that anchor most of the region's campgrounds. RV travellers use this corridor as a staging area for trips further north toward Mackenzie Country, or as a quiet destination in its own right for fishing, paddling, and lakeside camping. The closest established sites are within Alberta's provincial park and recreation area system. Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park sits on the shores of Lac Cardinal with about 50 sites tucked into the forest along the lake, while Figure Eight Lake Provincial Recreation Area offers 27 unserviced sites in a boreal forest setting that can accommodate RVs and tents. Smaller options include The Creek Campground, Rendez Vous RV Park and Storage, and Sulphur Lake Provincial Recreational Area, the latter reached by a longer drive up Highway 35 and west on Highway 689.

Alberta Parks runs a central reservation system through reserve.albertaparks.ca, and that is where most provincial sites in the Peace region are booked. At Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park, reservations can be made 90 days in advance of arrival date, and the campground offers a mix of first-come, first-served and reservable campsites. Weekends in July and August fill quickly once the booking window opens, so set a calendar reminder. Smaller recreation areas operate differently. The Sulphur Lake campground is first come, first served and user maintained, with pit or vault toilets, firepits and picnic tables but no potable water. Figure Eight Lake uses self-registration, with payment by cash or personal cheque payable to the Government of Alberta and no credit cards accepted. Private parks such as Rendez Vous RV Park and Storage are booked directly with the operator.
